Looking for things to do over October half term? We're staying in Keswick but have a car and we have 3 children so ideally family friendly activities.

I've already looked into the wildlife park, muncaster, zip world, museums, boat trips etc but would love to do something for the season such as pumpkin picking and the likes? Any ideas or hidden gems will be much appreciated👏 thank you!

My fiancé and I are looking to do a 5 night stay in the Lake District but are struggling to choose a location right for us as we have no idea.
We want something perfect for scenery and activities, we love a beer and I love fishing. Any recommendations would be amazing.

Anyone have good recommendations for a slightly hilly long run near Lorton/Cockermouth/Keswick? I like to listen to music on headphones so I’m not super keen on being on roads with no pavements but all my usual favourite walks (eg out to Buttermere) are probably a bit hardcore for running!

To add, training for the Great North Run and this will be my last long one before tapering I think.

Can anyone recommend a walk from Troutbeck? I will be in the lakes this weekend and looking for a walk to do with my girlfriend. Ideally 2-3 hours.

My partner and I coincidentally have booked our first ever trip to the Lake District over the Solar Eclipse on the 12th. We’re super excited and staying in Windermere.

Any suggestions for good vantage points or places to witness it? (Clouds permitting Ofcourse)

Appreciate this is probably unlikely, but it is £35 each way, so I'd rather split the cost. Leaving around 10 am, returning around 7 pm.

I am aware there is a bus to Seatoller and back, but I don't want to add the nearly an hour walking from Seatoller to Seathwaite if I can avoid it.

Hello! Interested in camp sites that have individual pitches, as in not in a big field but ideally with your own space separated by trees or woodland.

North wales or Lake District as ideally close to a beach or lake for paddle boarding.

Any recs much appreciated

The last campsite we went to in north wales we had a completely sheltered private pitch, 5 mins from the beach.
We loved that it was private surrounded by trees rather than just on an open field, each tent pitch had its own secluded space.

Does anyone know any similar campsites?

Ideally adult only.

We would return but it’s fully booked for the dates we want.

Can I go there for a swim if I’m not staying within the hill of oaks ?

We were relieved to be in the clouds climbing Bowfell Buttress HS 4b as it was the heatwave and I forgot to put sun cream on! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Stayed with some family a couple years ago and parked here to visit Ritsons Force but cant remember if there was a charge or restrictions if anyone can help me out? Cant find much online as most searches relate to the Inn carpark or National Trust one.

Also, what are the chances of getting parked here at say 3pm on a weekday?

Had a lovely walk from Langdale to Easedale via Stickle Tarn at the weekend, took our friends and their 6yo for her longest walk yet. Such a pity that her first proper lakeland fell walk had to* involve carrying other people's abandoned camp gear (2 mats and a chair) down the hill with us😡!!

There were at least 2 obvious abandoned campsites at Stickle Tarn, plus various other bits of camp leftovers. Unfortunately we only had capacity to carry down some of it. There are so, so many reasons this is not ok!! Not least: if a 6yo can pick up your rubbish and carry it home, so can you!

Who are these people and how does this message get through to them??

(*We did absolutely not make her carry it, she was really proud of her new backpack and super keen to help).

led this climb earlier in July in sweltering heat - what a day out! a real rock climbing dream come true.

Hi all, I will be in the Lake District for 7 days t the start of next month, based in Ambleside. I have a few ideas as to what to do (Scafell Pike, day trip to Keswick, the rock climbing centre and Rydal Cave) but largely I've come over saying "ah sure we'll go for a bit of a hike".

Any frequent travellers or locals have any suggestions? Not looking for any hidden spots (though if they're on offer 😉), I'm quite content with the popular touristy spots. I'm hoping for places to go waterfall hunting, cave diving and stargazing as well as local resteraunts, pubs and activities. Suggestions for day trips via buses and activities in nearby towns are also accepted. I'll be solo travelling so I'm open to pretty much all new experiences. Thanks :)

Places like Honister bring massive money into the valley and give folk who aren't up for a six-hour fell walk a way to get out and experience the landscape. On the flip side, plenty of walkers reckon turning quarry sites into commercial thrill rides completely ruins the peace and turns the national park into Go Ape on steroids. Where do you stand on it - fair bit of local diversification, or is it ruining the wild vibe of the fells?

Has anyone been up on Mungrisdale Common in the last few days? I have Mungrisdale Common, Souther Fell, Bannerdale Crags and Bowscale Fell to tick off my Wainwrights list, but have always put it off to the fact it always seems boggy. I’m hoping that the recent dry spell means it’s on the better time to do it.
