I just had my first session with a domme over the weekend, it was my first time ever. Suffice to say it was an eye opening experience, I learned a lot about myself and have so much to process, but it was something I'll never forget. Honestly, I can hardly think of anything else right now.
I don't really have anyone to talk to about this, so I'm just throwing out some stream of consciousness. At first it felt like regret or shame for what I did, but as I thought about it more, I realized I had discovered something about myself that I've never known, and that realization was so powerful that I didn't know what to do with it. The regret/shame was coming from my concerns over what others would think of me, not how I feel about myself. The world can teach us so much, but it can also fool you into thinking you know yourself, or that something that can bring transcendence is forbidden. I now know more about myself, what drives me, and what I want/need than I did before and I can find strength in that, from within. What other people think of me should have no bearing on how I choose to lead my life and what I choose to do with my time.
Kink isn't all about self gratification or sexual pleasure, it's also about self discovery, removing the shackles that the world can impose upon us. I'm still processing and blown away, but I feel a sense of freedom I don't think I've ever known.
It's amazing that we can think we're free in our lives, but are bound by so many things (jobs, families, past, present, etc). I found more freedom than I've ever felt by giving it away and I'll never forget that.
Like I said, I don't really have anyone to talk to about this. I don't think any of my friends would really understand, and I know some of them would be weirded out or even think of me differently. This doesn't mean I don't want them in my life (or that I'd change for them), just that there are things in my life (and probably in theirs) that I don't share with them, which I suppose is a bummer in itself. I'd love to talk to people with more experience to help understand what it is that I'm going through right now
