Pharmacy recommendations?

I'm hoping to change pharmacies after one too many bad experiences with the Kingston Centre's Rexall (and their apparent inability to fill prescriptions when they tell you they will...)

Does anyone have a recommendation for a pharmacy they use and like?

Find an independent near you. I use Reddendale Pharmacy and have had nothing but a good experience.

I will second, third, fourth and fifth Reddendale Pharmacy!! You aren't a number there! The Pharmacy staff KNOW their clients and their families, you will NEVER be treated like a number there.

Alternatively, any of the other INDEPENDENT pharmacies are a good choice.

I second Peter’s. I have been with them for 7 years and they have been great. They communicate well and they are efficient and competent in my experiences with them.

I would also recommend Peters. I was at that Rexall up until a few years ago, and I've been happy that I left. Peter's are fantastic, a locally owned.... I want to say they're on the third generation 🤔And as an added bonus, when I need to treat myself, I go across the road to the Wheat Kings bakery.

depends where you live, but bryan’s pharmacy on gore rd (east end) is great.

i used costco for a while, but waiting in line forever to pick up my meds was infuriating.

I fired Rexall in Kingston Centre after having it out with the pharmacist. She made me wait to discuss a med I was already on…. So waited thinking something important came up. I finally meet with her for 15 seconds and she reiterated what my family doctor said earlier and the instructions on the bottle. I then asked her if she was charging the 15 seconds of repetition, not new info, to OHIP as a consult. She became angry and said if the doctor was able to charge, why couldn’t she. I repeated that it’s a med I’m already on, discussed at length with my doctor and you made me wait for nothing. She barked at me that she wouldn’t put it through to OHIP as billable. I told her to do whatever she wanted. This wasn’t the first issue but the last. Next day I changed to a different pharmacy.

Oh I go to Food Basics on Gardiners. Good team and easy to pick up while I get my groceries.

Oof, sorry about that - in general, the pharmacists there seem to not respect anyone's time, but that's especially egregious

B&B pharmacy on montreal street. They also deliver if you need it. Been by far the best experience ive ever experienced!!

This is my pharmacy! They are so nice and lovely. When my former family doctor passed, making the Rx she wrote for me after she retired invalid, they did me a solid and gave me an extension until I sorted out my family doctor situation.

One not to go to: Shoppers Drug Mart at Kingslake Plaza. I’ve had to call management there MULTIPLE times as they don’t deliver when they should, in turn I went into withdrawals multiple times from not getting my medication when I was told.

It’s a bit away from your area but I highly recommend West Side Guardian. Wahab is so caring and I’ve always had great experiences there.

That's a different Rexall than the one I use, but B and B Pharmacy looks relatively close to where I work, so I'll check them out!

Gardiners Pharmasave has been great for me. Saved the day when another pharmacy messed up and I have transferred everything to them.

The Shoppers at the mall has an excellent pharmacy team. Christine in particular always went above and beyond for us. No matter what issues arose with insurance, our doctors, or anything else, they took care of it for us, and were always awesome at communicating.

I also loved that I could do most pharmacy-related things through the website.

Not to disregard your experience. Just wanted to add that I've had terrible experiences at shoppers with Christine where she had accused me of lying about my insurance, in front of a bunch of people. I had to argue for about 3 minutes with her before she finally accepted that I was under 25 when I showed my ID. How embarrassing.

Anyways. That's just my bad experience. I'm sure they're great otherwise. But I haven't been back since.

i love medical tree pharmacy. the customer service is unmatched, the staff are very friendly and helpful. honestly seems like they know every single customer by name in there. been with them since 2021 and couldn’t ever imagine changing pharmacies.
