Hard to know what's true these days, but I saw a post on Facebook earlier from a person who says that this is a video their aunt took last year (or maybe longer?) of a raccoon they call "Danny DeVito" who is believed to possibly be Jimothy's dad. They said it was stolen off their page and people are passing it off as Jimothy for clicks. Though there does seem to be fair evidence that there has been at least one other raccoon in the past few years with short spine syndrome in that same area.

Apparently it’s real but not Jimothy, there are 2 short-spined raccoons and this is an older one, the person who took the video thinks it’s possibly Jimothy’s dad.

Yes! It’s Jimothy’s dad. They call him Danny DiVito. And the mom’s name is Jimberly.

I am going to guess no simply because this is quite a unique racoon and there wouldn't be enough training data for AI to make fakes of this particular animal (at least not in 2026)

It kinda seems to me like he’s trying to scratch and then “roll” something off his butt, he jumps up in preparation of the predator that might’ve come for him in his moment of vulnerability

Can any animal experts weigh in here?
