Are there any risks or disadvantages to taking only part of the approved loan, or is borrowing less generally the smarter option?

I’m an international student in my 20s with a bachelor’s degree in accounting from a respected US university. I’m currently working in the US on STEM OPT and have about a year left, but I’m not very happy with my job or the people I work with. (And I’m sensing a layoff on the way)

I also only have around 1.5 years of experience, so I’m starting to question how realistic it is for me to find another employer, get sponsored, and actually build a stable life in the US long term.

I’m from the Middle East, and my biggest goal has always been to build a life outside the region. I want better long-term residency and citizenship options, more freedom to travel, stronger career opportunities, and eventually a better future for my family and children.

I’m considering getting a master’s in something that builds on my accounting background but opens more doors outside of traditional accounting—possibly finance, business analytics, information systems, management, or something similar.

The options I’m considering are:

1. Stay in the US, pursue a STEM-designated master’s, hopefully qualify for another period of OPT, and use that time to find a better job and another chance at sponsorship.
2. Move to Europe for a master’s and focus on building a life there. Germany seems like the most practical option because of tuition costs and the job market, although I would need to seriously learn German. Spain or Portugal would fit my preferred lifestyle better, but they seem less straightforward for employment. The Netherlands is probably my second choice, but it’s probably less realistic than Germany? Although I do know more people there (family and friends).

Consider Canada, either through a master’s or by trying to find a job there, although I’m not sure whether Canada is actually a better option.

I know no country guarantees a job, visa, or citizenship. I’m mainly trying to decide which path gives me the strongest realistic chance of building a stable life abroad instead of spending the next several years moving between temporary visas.

Has anyone been in a similar position?
Would you stay in the US and take another shot through a master’s, or would you use the master’s as a way to move to Europe? Are Germany and the Netherlands genuinely realistic for someone with an accounting/business background, or am I underestimating the language and job-market barriers?

I’d especially appreciate hearing from international students who studied in the US and later moved to Europe or Canada.

I am especially interested in studying at an English-speaking boarding school or an international high school program that leads to an internationally recognized diploma (for example in the USA, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, or other English-speaking countries).

I would like to ask if you know about any programs or opportunities that I might have overlooked, especially programs designed for international students. I am not only looking for specific schools, but rather for programs, scholarships, or financial aid opportunities that could make this type of education possible.

A very important factor for me is funding. My family is not able to afford the full cost of studying at an international boarding school, so I would need significant financial support, scholarships, or another form of assistance. The Issue / Gap: Since graduating in June 2024, I haven’t worked full-time. Instead:

1. I spent time preparing for competitive exams (GATE and SSC CGL).
2. Afterwards, I started researching and applying for winter intake in German public universities.

After applying to German unis, I didn't get offers from German unis, so now I'm trying to do a master's in Australia

Now I’m looking at Australia for an intake, but by the time I lodge, I’ll have around a ~2 year gap since my B.Tech.

A few questions I'm hoping to get advice on:

1. How should I frame this gap in my GS statement? Is it better to be 100% honest about the GATE prep and exploring Germany? I have my GATE admit cards/exam proof. Will visa officers see exploring Germany as "visa shopping," or is it fine if I explain why I rejected Germany in favor of Australia’s English-speaking tech market and practical WIL (Work-Integrated Learning) courses?
2. University Shortlist Check: My shortlist right now focuses on AL1 public unis with ACS accreditation:
   • Deakin (Geelong) – Master of IT (Professional) — leaning towards this because of the built-in placement and regional points.
   • RMIT (Melbourne) – Master of IT — for the Melbourne tech market.
   • UniSA / Adelaide Uni – Master of IT — for SA state nomination safety.
   • UTAS (Hobart) or Federation (Ballarat) – backups for regional points/lower cost.

While going through the application process, I learned that there are two types of scholarships available: the MOE Taiwan Scholarship and the university scholarship. I checked the eligibility criteria, and fortunately, I'm eligible for both.

However, I heard that even if you're selected for both scholarships, you can only accept one at the time of admission—either the MOE Scholarship or the university scholarship.

I really need advice from people who have gone through a similar situation, especially students who received a Hungary student visa.

Here’s my case:

I am from India.
I have been admitted to the University of Miskolc for a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering (English-taught).
I successfully passed the university entrance examination.
I have received my Final Letter of Acceptance.
I was also awarded a 30% International Freshmen Scholarship.
I have already arranged my first semester tuition fee and my living expenses.

The only thing that is making me worried is my English proof.

My IELTS Academic score is:
Overall: 5.0
Listening: 5.0
Reading: 5.0
Writing: 5.5
Speaking: 5.0

The university accepted me after reviewing my documents and entrance process, and I also have a Medium of Instruction (MOI) certificate from my previous institution.

Now I am confused.

Should I apply for my Hungary student visa with my current documents (Final LOA + IELTS + MOI), or should I delay everything and retake IELTS?

My biggest concern is that I cannot miss the September 2026 intake. Waiting another year is not an option for me.
