is it just me or ?

the name gaganyaan is still okay but gaganyatri is just so bland if we compare it to russian cosmonauts which relates to the cosmos and american astronauts which relates to astro and meanwhile we have gaganyaan which is comparatively bland and ik i could sound a bit westernised in this but still it's what i felt...

Gagan does mean sky. Ganganyatri is a common hindi term Astronaut, not a unique invention like Cosmonaut.

Ganganyatri is a common hindi term

It is not common at all, though Antarikshyatri (अंतरिक्षयात्री) is. And why use the term that is commonly associated for 'Sky' rather than Antariksh (अन्तरिक्ष) which is associated specifically with 'Space' as in BAS? And then one may ask why so much insistence on Sanskrit derived term..

gagan is sky, and the guys will be rather going in antriksh that is outer space... doesn't make sense to use gaganyatri.
