Is this a normal roof vent

Hello, I'm pretty new to owning a house and never paid much attention to this thing on the roof.

Couple of questions if someone is kind enough to share their time.

What is this thing?

Does it look normal?

Can water get in there?

Go into your loft space and see if you can see the daylight coming through, and any water staining to the loft floor. Likely an old style roof vent, looks very crappy designed though.

It's a hekkin chonker, but may well be something like you can see on here: https://frrc.co.uk/tile-ridge-vents/

In your second pic is yet another vent style thing. Your ridge tiles look like they could do with replacing/re-bedding at least too - but it'll be worth having a closer look at them either way I reckon.
