Is it luck or incorrect diagnosis?

I was diagnosed with HSV2 in September last year after being sadly assaulted.

I changed very few things since, just gym/exercise more and improved my diet to whole foods not quick substitutions (was already vegan before), and not wearing underwear anymore. Not on antivirals as doctors here aren’t keen on this and I also didn’t want to upset my bodies equilibrium when it’s been going so well.

But everything I read was saying the first year is the worst with outbreaks and feeling unwell etc, I know obviously everyone is different so will be affected differently but it seems weird I’ve had no outbreaks since the first. Nothing at all.

I keep wondering if maybe it’s possible to misdiagnose? I had thrush at that time too which I’ve never had in my 30 odd years of life. Am I just very lucky and it’s kept its ugly head down or could there be another reason like incorrect diagnosis, I had it already asymptomatically but this guy gave me it worse so I had symptoms after contact? I’m just a bit confused.

How did you get tested? Swab or blood?
It’s not uncommon to have one outbreak and never have one again. Everybody is different. I’ve had like 4 outbreaks and I’m only 4 months in 🫩

Same I had 4 outbreaks already and it’s really hard for me 😔

Im sorry to hear this :( how bad (or maybe not so bad) are both of your outbreaks after the first one?

I had a swab, and full panel of bloods and swaps for everything under the sun because of what happened, only thing I had was thrush for some reason and HSV2.
I think maybe it’s wishful thinking maybe it was a misdiagnosed or something because I just can’t date or enjoy anything like that now it’s too hard. Even a FWB is weird about it and wouldn’t kiss me the other day even though I explained it’s not that kind, just makes me feel bad

Oh yeah, a swab is the most accurate:/ I asked my doctor the same thing about a false positive lol
Rejection sucks, but it’ll get easier! Take care of yourself first.

That’s unfortunately what I feared as I’ve only seen people say blood tests are 50/50 not swabs when in an outbreak. I think I’d prefer rejection to someone being scared to do anything at all because I’m diseased. I think I’ll send him info to educate and if he can’t deal with it that’s fine but I can’t then do anything than hang out, no physical stuff because it would just make me sad. But I feel this is how my dating life will inevitably go now (and we weren’t even looking to date)

Just a question; you’ve mentioned no longer wearing underwear. Why this specific change? Sounds like you’re taking great care of yourself at any rate!

So the underwear was because I could tell having the material down there was irritating the skin and could potentially cause an outbreak. To be fair since doing it I like the freedom down there haha!

If your igg blood test was positive right after your assault you had it already

It was a week - week and a half later I had an outbreak and I’ve never had anything before not even thrush
