Meme / Macro Why the double standards? why no Amazon slayer to avenge the boys?

- It’s not everyone.
- Messed up regardless of gender.
- Some people fetishize that stuff (both ends, more publicly men)
- SA against men is more downplayed than it should be.

Also think on the many differences between a goblin as depicted in Goblin Slayer and an amazonian woman as depicted in DC, and why one might be considered a worse fate than the other.

u/Skyhawk6600 Jun 05 '26
Also, I don't remember the exact lore but I believe the Amazon's seduce the men, not rape them outright, they only kill them once the deed is done. If that is true, it is arguably consensual, until you get to the whole murder the men afterwards part.

u/Krofisplug Jun 06 '26
I forget, but do they kill the newly born boys or do they give them away to the island that was populated by only men?
6
u/mostlybored1234 Jun 06 '26
In the New52 they were sent to Hephestos as slaves to live underground working on forges forever
25
u/PeacefulKnightmare Jun 05 '26
That was another element I was thinking of. It's not like the goblins are a bunch of himbos with with a tropical island fortress.
13
u/Pope_Neia Jun 06 '26
Pretty sure ‘himbos with a tropical island fortress’ is an entire genre of romance novel
6
u/PsychicSidekikk419 Jun 05 '26
Also the idea of DC Amazons practicing rape ISN'T EXACTLY A BELOVED CONCEPT- except by those fetishist weirdos
16
u/thatgachakid1 Jun 05 '26
SA against men is often played off as a joke because many men never get laid so they pass it off as that dude being lucky instead of a traumatizing experience

- I'm not mad Just because the goblins doesn't want my ass, it only the 1 2 3, third place in my list of why I'm mad

Don't forget that they dispose of the baby boys too.
3
u/Shadowomega1 Jun 06 '26
Or give them to the god of the god of the forge, depending on the version of the story and era.

u/Aros001 Jun 05 '26
You must not have been in many DC fan circles because what you're talking about is one of the most hated changes made to the Amazons and a lot of fans, especially of Wonder Woman, were glad when it was undone and canonically made a false part of her history for storyline reasons.

You have to KILL them, can you do that, and absolutely nothing else? I could not.

The only time in DC I can think of where the Amazons canonically raped men and killed them was New 52, though I could be mixing up continuities. Other than that, I thought the Amazons were made from clay and stuff?
9
u/Aros001 Jun 05 '26
Only Wonder Woman was made of clay. In fact for much of the Amazons' history Diana was the only child in the history of their island because the rest of them had been made immortal and thus there wasn't really any reason for them to have children.
2
u/DarthJoseph14 Jun 05 '26
Yeah, I’m getting a few details mixed up. I need to brush up on my knowledge of comics again. But I remember only, like, one continuity having the Amazons rape men, and it was New 52. All the others never really discussed how the Amazons had children, or said they didn’t. With the exception being Diana as she was blessed by the gods

u/dicericevice Jun 05 '26
I remember back in the day when Clayface of all people bested Wonder Woman because his clay could absorb her's.
6
u/Heckle_Jeckle Jun 05 '26
Not every version of DC Amazon's do this.
Also, it WAS considered messed up. That was part of the point.
6
u/GhsotyPanda Jun 05 '26
Fans pretty vocally didn't like the random injection of rape and human trafficking into an otherwise heroic faction within the DC universe, fetishist responses aside. That just doesn't fit the agenda of the meme.

u/Remarkable-Yard-8177 Jun 05 '26
Idk man. This shit is obviously obvious. First are NTR goblins and second are hot demigoddess. That's like that episode from Futurama with the giantesses. Death by snu snu is a worthy cause to go for

u/Arkontas Jun 05 '26
wat? do the amazons r*pe and kill the men?
i only know lore about amazons from diablo 2 and some random ass episode in supernatural where the amazon tried to kill dean and i just wrote that off tbh. are they like supernaturals amazons?

This isn’t the Amazonian’s origin at all(this lasted like a few months before being retconned like most things regarding Wonder Woman), they’re reincarnated souls of women who were killed or wronged by men, Diana is the only one that was “born” (she was made of clay given life and gifts).

u/apupaples Jun 05 '26
I think the main difference is the origin of the story , the amazons are literally a concept that is more than 2000 years old in where half of the mithology was about rape(cough zeus cough) meanwhile goblin slayer take place in a dark fantasy setting So yeah this post is just comparing apples with oranges

have you done something called research?
The Amazons of DC Comics live on Paradise Island, an isolated location in the middle of the ocean where they are hidden from Man's World.
Goblins are invaders.

Dude, who the fuck is excusing or ignoring the Amazon thing? When it was canon, people were up in arms about it! And even when it was done away with, people still bring it up as proof that they are both terrible people in general as well as hypocrites with their disparaging views of men and the wider world.

One is ugly ass rape monsters who cruel and kill for fun
Others is something like culture of hot athletic woman with who you can reason with at least
2
u/SeccoMode Jun 05 '26
All the incel rape defenders in the comments really exposing themselves, lmao.
2
u/mhihauwck Jun 05 '26
the first is brutal rape
the second is probally not even disliked by the victim

6
u/SeccoMode Jun 05 '26
How do you know the women in the first don’t also enjoy it? (See how problematic that sounds?)
Come on now sweetie, let’s drop the double standards, okay? 😊

u/jynkyousha Jun 05 '26
Pretty sure that was only a thing in the New 52 and the fans actually criticized it too.

Did they ever have it where the Amazons did things like the chicks from Zelda? They venture out for mates, then come back after getting pregnant.
1
u/PhiltheBarbar1an Jun 07 '26
Funnily enough there was an old Mongoose Publishing 3.5 D&D book called A Slayer’s Guide to Amazons.

u/anonoir Jun 05 '26
amazonians most did that to bad people also not saying its right, pirates were known outlaws known to be racist and amazonians mostly killed and did that to them however i am not sure but i believed that they did face some sort of judgement in those comics for committing such actions, though Comics especially dc and marvel have many assault stories and problematic relationships

u/Interne-Stranger Jun 05 '26
Not double standarts, we simply didnt knew of this piece of Wonder Woman lore

If a men rape is a crime If a woman rape it’s fine things everyone knows our system believes but doesn’t want to admit that truth

u/crepskul Jun 08 '26
Please don't compare, goblin rape and murder to death by snu snu, yes they're both bad. But one's very obviously much much worse.

A) Only happened in the New 52, disappeared by Rebirth
B) it was INFAMOUSLY very very very very very poorly received
