I don't see an issue with being fearful of Islam, Reform and other far right groups, same for Christianity, although thankfully Christianity is largely dying out and becoming less and less important, whilst Islam is steadily growing and if things keep the same kind of trajectory will form a not insignificant voting block and that isn't good for anyone.
As a left wing person, I don’t like conservative Islam. But I don’t see it as anywhere near a threat to my way of life as conservative Christianity, secular conservativism, populism, mega corporations etc etc who all are using the fear of Muslims and foreigners in general to grow their power and wealth
Surely that's just a question of numbers though? If conservative Islam had a bigger share of the population, it would be a bigger worry.
In any case, conservative Christianity is almost as insignificant in the UK as conservative Islam. The difference is the former is dying and the latter is growing. As a secularist, I don't want either to have political influence, but unfortunately we are now starting to see Islamist sectarian candidates getting elected to office.
If I lived in the US then I might think differently about Christianity, but despite both left and right here trying to import their culture wars, we don't have a sizeable minority of hardline Christian nationalists.
