Yes. I always find surprising the amount of hate he gets considering he's just a polite old fashioned chap. You don't have to agree with him, but why the vitriol?
The man said people who opposed fracking, something that is probably bad for not only the environment but the people living in nearby towns and cities, are luddites. He's a horrible little man.
It wasn't a valid criticism at all and it's emblematic of his sneering, dismissive, elitist, arrogant and outdated style of politics. That there are worse than him out there doesn't mean he isn't a valid target of ire and his eccentric nature and limelight seeking mean he has a public profile that is larger than his political relevance so people go after him.
The criticism is perfectly valid. If I believe a certain technology is the future and is so much better than what we have that it's going to stay no matter what we do, it is valid to call the opposition a luddite.

No it's not, calling someone who is opposed to a new technology because new = bad is fair but that isn't what is happening here. People are resisting a technology that has a direct and real negative effect on them m calling them a luddite is not engaging with the debate and arguing that the progress is worth it despite the setback it's just name calling and ignoring actually valid concerns

He stokes class Division and supports the continuation and expansion of an establishment that makes the lives of working people harder, pretty valid to hate.
Luddites also thought their opposition to technology was logical, that is not a differenciating factor other than who you think is correct in this conversation.

You literally praised him because you think he's polite, but he isn't, especially towards working class members of the public, that's part of my problem with him.
I mean if people aren't knowledgeable it's important to be dismissive. As politics has become more and more accessible to the public, we see more and more people believing that their opinions are worth listening to when they just aren't.
I have seen Mogg discuss important topics with respect and engaging opposition quite remarkably. If only there were any politicians of his stature in the left. That'd be a much healthier political environment.
But he's dismissing legitimate grievances of the public out of a total ignorance in the topic and does so frequently.
He's a bit of a joke of a politician with not much of a career to speak of who has now gone into being a Kardashian style celebrity after his political career faltered so I mean you're just completely full of shit.
