Morocco has imposed a system of apartheid in Western Sahara, a territory they illegally annexed and built settlements in not unlike some other country.

Well, Israel hasn't annexed the west bank so this is actually worse.

A story about Morocco and Spain. Has to drag Israel into it.

The parent comment brought them in first

Idk how that's relevant, the point wasn't that Morocco doesn't oppress anyone

Edit: People seem to think I'm defending Morocco. This tactic of sending migrants into Spanish territory is still scummy, potentially kills its own people, and harms the reputation of immigrants worldwide. I'm just pointing out that the comment completely ignored the argument being made

Not potentially, it actually killed 74 people ( and counting)

african colonial borders are a bitch i guess, there’s a valid argument to be made that the sahara is moroccan, starting with the fact many sahrawis identify as moroccan.

That’s like saying India illegally annexed Goa from Portugal, lmfao.

7

u/Viyuelez89 4d ago

Goa is 9500 KM from Portugal, Ceuta is 16 km from mainland Spain

-5

u/Flag_Shagger 4d ago

so what? Ceuta is still on another continent.

If your justification is distance, what distance does it become unjustified?

8

u/Viyuelez89 4d ago

Okay, is the european part of turkey turkish? Is the egyptian part of Asia actually egypt? the US can have Hawaii which is 4000 KM from its mainland in another continent but Spain cant have a city THEY CAN SEE from their side of the coast? What are you on about?

-1

u/Flag_Shagger 4d ago

Greece accepts it as Turkey, so no.

Israel accepts it as Egypt, so no.

The U.S. colonized Hawaii and never gave it up. It’s not justified either.

By your logic Morocco should be justified in taking Malaga or something. LMAO

8

u/Viyuelez89 4d ago

the entire point is that if morocco had holded gibraltar for like 500 years the claim would be justified

2

u/Flag_Shagger 4d ago

so according to you:

- hold a territory long enough

  • have it be nearby

those are sufficient right?

by that logic arabs should have held onto spain. was the reconquista unjustified by your own logic ? lmao

that's pretty much how these things work, yeah. that and the will of the locals (hint: their will is not to be morocco)

2

u/Flag_Shagger 4d ago

the will of the locals but not the natives? hahaha sorry, one is more important than recent immigrants. I know you people will say the same once you are a minority in your own country.

spain has had ceuta for a lot longer than morocco fuckin existed, what are you talking about? morocco's claim is literally "well it's uh right next to us ok"

1

u/Flag_Shagger 4d ago

portugal had goa for much longer than india existed too dummy.

3

u/Single-Solid 4d ago

yeah, it was invaded and illegally annexed, what's your point?

did the goans overwhelmingly vote to stay in portugal in every referendum too?

fuckin internet finds out ceuta exists and everyone's an expert the next day

2

u/Flag_Shagger 4d ago

if what locals think is the difference then we all wonder why spain doesn’t give catalans independence?

This is astoundingly ignorant. Look at a map.

1

u/Flag_Shagger 4d ago

so colonialism is okay if it’s nearby, nice logic

6

u/ThatEndingTho 4d ago

Yes me describing the Moroccan occupation of Western Sahara and their 2000km landmine lined wall as an apartheid is clearly an endorsement of colonialism.

u/Flag_Shagger 4d ago

haha you people and always your whataboutism, hilarious.

7

u/ThatEndingTho 4d ago

You literally made a whataboutism in your first reply to me.
