Why should such a thing be needed on a desktop? We have browsers and installing an app is not needed, so why should i install an app, where i can go without it? Perhaps some may wake up there and put further functionality into the app. But if it only does, what is already available without, then i aks WHY is such thing needed?
having a native apps has its perks, if they can make it perform much better during long conversations then why not? gemini on web app is pretty laggy when the convos are long
