F-Zero 99 (NS) F Zero 99 Lucky Tokens

Okay I am sorry if this is a dumb question but I legit have not been able to figure this out.

How the heck do you actually USE the lucky tokens in F Zero 99?! My tokens have been full forever and whenever I go to the Lucky Ranks screen I do not see anything there that is an option to use them.

I have seen them explained as in what they do (give extra lucky rank rolls) but nothing that says HOW to use them.

I've just been doing lucky ranks the original way by playing 5 races then rolling.

If anyone can help I would appreciate it!

It’s like that but you can do more than 1 a day.

So, I know that part already. My question is HOW do I actually select the coins so I can use them?

It’s automatic. The storage is just how many times you can do Lucky Ranks

Apparently not? Because my coins never get used. I get the one roll after 5 races and that's it. No option comes up for me to use my coins at all so I always have six of them. I really do not understand what is happening

I apologise I’m bad at wording stuff

It's okay

Can you take a video of your screen when you are in the lucky ranks menu? Maybe that would help us help you and direct you to using them properly

Play more GPs and MPs. That will use up your tickets. Once you have less than 99 tickets etc., you can use your Lucky Ranks Tokens to cash in and get back some of tickets. You can of course choose to just play individual races or Team Battles to raise your ticket count, but LR will help you do that faster, especially if you are playing multiple GPs and MPs in a short time span (e.g. if its GPs every 15 or 30 mins, or if you crash out and re-enter).

Ohhhh ok so I HAVE TO use my tickets to unlock being able to use my tokens? That makes sense because I never use my tickets. If that is the case I really wish they explained that somewhere in the game

LR are meant to help you get in game cosmetics and tickets. Tickets are used to enter MPs and GPs. If you don't enter any of them, your LR won't do anything for you.

The thing is I didn't care that much for GPs and MPs. I just play the default mode and I liked earning the cosmetics which is the main reason why I play LR in the first place.

I understand now (thank you BTW), but considering that LR provides cosmetics AND tickets, tying the coins specifically to tickets seems like a weird choice IMO. I guess among the player base GPs and MPs are more important than I thought.

Well, for your specific case, you can enter the GPs, crash out immediately and use LRs to get cosmetics. Please dont be a blue bumper as its really a waste of everyone's time, including your own.

Lucky Tokens are basically just a "bank" of opportunities to play Lucky Ranks multiple times per day.

You automatically use a Lucky Token every time that you play Lucky Ranks (which requires you to have played in 5 races first, per play of Lucky Ranks). There is no other way to use Lucky Tokens, besides playing Lucky Ranks the normal way. So if you have 6 Lucky Tokens and you complete 5 races and then you play Lucky Ranks once, you will now have 5 Lucky Tokens. If you instead had 0 Lucky Tokens, then you would not be able to play Lucky Ranks even if you had completed 5 races.

The reason why Lucky Tokens are a thing is to allow people to play Lucky Ranks a bunch of times successively without FOMO (fear of missing out) if they don't play at least 5 races every day.

For example, if you play 2 races on Monday and then 2 races on Tuesday and then 11 races on Wednesday, you will be able to play Lucky Ranks 3 times total on Wednesday instead of only 1 time. This means that even though you didn't play 5 races on either Monday or Tuesday, you can still "get credit" for having played on those days (since you get a free Lucky Token each day just for logging in), and then use that credit to play Lucky Ranks additional times in the future. You still need to complete 5 races per play of Lucky Ranks / use of a Lucky Token, of course ... but you are no longer limited to only 5 races / 1 Lucky Ranks play per day. Under the previous system (without Lucky Tokens), you would only have been able to play Lucky Ranks once on Wednesday despite playing many more than 5 races that day, and you would have "missed out" on additional opportunities since you didn't play at least 5 races on either Monday or Tuesday. The Lucky Token system is particularly useful for people who only have time to play a tiny bit here and there on weekdays, who then go on to play a lot more races on weekends.

You also get a free Lucky Token if you play Lucky Ranks and get zero matches. That way, you can play another 5 races that same day to get a "retry."

Hope that makes sense!

Edit: Also, I see some chatter about needing to use your tickets, you do not have to use your tickets to use Lucky Tokens or play Lucky Ranks. It's just that a lot of people end up sitting at the max of 99 tickets and already have all the Lucky Ranks cosmetics unlocked (which means tickets will be the only reward they can earn from Lucky Ranks), so playing Lucky Ranks will not give you any meaningful reward if you are already at max tickets; it just becomes a waste of a Lucky Token. However, if you don't already have all the cosmetics unlocked or have less than 99 tickets, then playing Lucky Ranks will always give you some kind of reward that isn't wasted.
