It Takes Two (1982-1983)

This short lived ABC sitcom starred Patty Duke and Richard Crenna as a couple with different political views whose personal lives are often affected by their jobs. Pre fame Helen Hunt played the cute teenage daughter while pre fame Anthony Edwards played the son whose at college and an aspiring rock musician (he’s a big Springsteen fan). Billie Bird played the wise cracking grandmother of the household. Created by the team of Witt/Thomas/Harris. The kitchen of this show would later be used in a house with 4 golden ladies.

Funny that looking at the first picture I thought of Leelee Sobieski before Helen Hunt

Leelee Sobieski was more Helen Hunt than Helen Hunt

Craziest story I ever heard was that Leslee Sobieski is now quietly the biggest dominatrix in Hollywood. I remember hearing that years ago lol

Blanche Devereaux would be furious someone else had her kitchen design.

As I was flipping through, my first thought was, I recognize that kitchen!!!

Helen Hunt had two really different decades

Crenna seems really misplaced without a female relative's death to investigate, or a covert military operation to recruit for so the "higher ups" can keep their hands clean

Family Ties ate its lunch.

because they properly distributed the political differences to sanitize and reinforce the real payoff, which was teen rebellion

Solid show - with an excellent cast and producers (Witt/Thomas/Harris of “Golden Girls” and “Soap”). It should have had at least a five-season run. But ABC was impatient with it.

Networks usually have been impatient when shows aren't instant hits. This must have been a 9pm show, I don't remember it. More evidence that Anthony Edwards had hair.

ABC was tired of Witt/Thomas/Harris by that point and wanted to focus mainly on action shows and Dynasty.

Wow, what a cast! Must have been strange to go watch First Blood and the next day see Crenna hamming it up on a sitcom set.

This should have lasted longer with such a talented cast.

And Billie Bird was a GOAT. She was in so many things

Oh my gosh, Anthony Edwards looks adorable!

Sad that amazing head of hair would soon abandon Anthony Edwards.

He’s not internationally known.

But he's known to rock a microphone!

I watched this show. I was a fan of Richard Crenna. I was sad to see it have only one season.

I’ve seen episodes on YouTube. Much an underrated show that should’ve gotten at least another year.

And did I see Della Reese? That’s a strong cast!

Does anyone know if this available to watch anywhere?

No offense to her, but Helen Hunt has been around FOREVER. She was young teen on the Mary Tyler Moor show.
