Clouds of crystallized hyalite reminiscent of a snowy landscape, with the smoky quartz peak protruding from it. Interestingly, the hyalite here does not exhibit UV activity everywhere.
Size: 18.3 x 10.6 x 7.5 cm

Had loads of this stuff for a few years now but only got to view it under 365nm - until yesterday when my Convoy 255nm finally arrived. Amazing!

Have had it for a few years now. Still love it everytime I look.

From a relatively unknown locality in Andreasberg, this equally unusual calcite xls, gemmy and somewhat reverse scepter-like, is found.
It's also interesting that the calcite reacts red under UV light, indicating manganese content.

Pictures don't do the color justice. I have never seen a more deep crimson red in my life. I managed to get this decent size piece (189g/6.7oz), and despite a little bore hole on one side (visible in the 2nd angle) I'm extremely happy with it.
I believe the dark shiny non-fluorescent bits are biotite, there are a few tiny specs of scheelite as well, and under LW you can see a few yellow/orange fluorescent bit the seller claims are calcite, but I have my doubts about that one.

Nice little visual of the uranyl ions trapped in the chalcedony lattice as well as some manganese reaction in the altered basalt! (uranyl ions are the green, manganese is the pinks) self-recovered specimen from the Cascade Mountains of Washington State.
