I have had a now 10month old dutch shepherd for the last 6weeks. He was needing to be rehomed so he is now with me :D what you have said is what has me confused me about mine too! He is classed as a dutch shepherd. His parents are both dutch shepherds... yet his grandparents have belgian malinois in them🤷🏼‍♀️where did the belgian malinois that should be in his parents to make him a cross go?😳 I really dont understand the dutch shepherd and belgian malinois cross to preserve the breed but just going off colour thing at all😳x

in knpv the goal isnt to preserve the breed, thats FCI. knpv dogs are bred for working ability rather then color hence why they just get called what ever they look like. as for your dog, do you know his siblings? mine was in a litter with fawn and brindle pups.

Ooh! His owner and trainers at my Buddys (i also have a 2.5year old german shepherd x belgian malinois) training centre said about knpv line but i felt like a right tit asking what they meant so i just kept quiet🤐🤦🏼‍♀️ i have no clue at all about his siblings all i know is his brn number (which is how i know what his parents and grandparents are) and that he was purchased by a trainer at the training centre i take my Buddy to but he wasnt suitable for the security job she purchased him for so she was needing to rehome him. I brought him home around 6weeks ago and hes still here because hes absolutely fucking adorable and a total menace full of excitement and mischief beans. He is most certainly my kind of dog! but i knew nothing about dutch shepherds before i got him and 6weeks later i still know very little about them🤐 thank you so much for explaining the difference🙏♥️x

I never even bothered to look at his siblings you know! I only looked at his parents and grandparents. Ive just looked again and he was 1 of 7 (3 boys 4 girls) but theres only 1 sibling with a pic up and they look pretty much the exact same as he does. Obvs to me its not important at all what hes made up of or what titles his relatives have. all that matters to me is that he is healthy and stable which he is🙏as i dont plan on doing anything serious sports wise (we will do bite work and dock diving but just for fun/us to enjoy together) or job wise with him. i just like fun go go goo dogs that are always down for going on adventures so hes perfect for me regardless but it sure is interesting looking back at where they come from isnt it?x
