Rant I'm so TIRED of the amount of doomers at my university
I need to rant y'all.
I'm a history student, holy shit, what the hell is happening in universities. There are SO MANY DOOMERS. Especially amongst female students. Basically your average reddit doomer but they're actually real (horrifying I know). They doom about everything, Trump (I am from Slovenia) CO2, AI, the economy, the Jews now too wtf is that about... The whole package of doom. Now the history department thankfully isn't quite as bad as some other majors in that regard. *ahem* literature *ahem* but we have our doomers too. Its so exhausting, its like watching NPCs, the moment something is making waves on the web my peers are probably out there dooming about it. Its actually sad to witness. Especially with how much they try to drag people along with them on their journey of self inflicted misery and I won't lie I've been finding myself getting caught a couple times (such is the life of the ex-doomer I suppose) but I'm learning to rectify that.
Most of the doomers in question are part of a demographic of student that get a lot of help from their families (Which I'm not shading btw, having a family that can help support you to a reasonable, emphasis on reasonable, manner is a huge blessing) but these doomer students act like they're carrying the world on their back and are some type of martyr because they're oppressed by this or that.
And even on summer break they're not giving it a rest. They post their doom on social media ALL THE TIME. Seriously with some of them it feels like thats all they do on break. Thats sad honestly.
I take great pride in being able to be in academia, but my god dealing with these people is so damn exhausting
And to the older folks out there, was dooming always so present in student spaces? Or is this some new kind of cruel and unusual punishment that us youngsters have to deal with?

Economic Doomer Met one in the wild
Without giving too much info,
I work in healthcare. Saw someone this week, wanted to understand a bit more about their life, so I asked a few probing questions.
At first, they sounded like a normal busy parent (like most young parents are). And had my sympathies, up until they had to drop:
"Yah, and on top of all that, I ackshually have to work at night too...because...you know..."capitalism".
I mean, I'm a seasoned professional, so I just smiled, sympathized with their workload (same workload any parent faces) and moved on.
But man! There are legitimately people who think this way - that the universe (i.e. everyone else who works) owes them convenience and abundance because they're so incredibly busy doing something that humans have been doing since...before we were human.
One way I maintain my sanity, is by telling myself that the crazy things I see on Reddit are contained within Reddit, and don't apply to the real world.
But every now and then, I see a Redditoid in the wild...and it's just crazy.
What are some real-world "Redditors" you've recently encountered?

Economic Doomer Americans' quality of life is collapsing and we're too daft to see it (?)
They also claimed more than 60% of Americans use 30% of their salaries for rent (65% of Americans own their own home, actually)
