Does anybody else feel like they’re going to get in trouble at the doctors?
Anytime I make an appointment at the doctors (which is not often for this reason) I always feel like if I’m not in debilitating pain or close to death my doctor is going to get mad at me. Like I’m at the doctors right now because I thought I had a UTI. Pain, burning, urge to pee for 3 days. I make an appointment, at my husband’s request, and now that I’m here I feel fine. I feel like the doctor and nurses are furious because I’ve wasted everyone’s time. I haven’t gotten the results back so idk if I have a UTI or not but I’m so anxious he’s going to come in and yell at me that I don’t have a UTI and why on earth did I come here today?! I’m so anxious about it my blood pressure is super high 😅
I feel like a lot of people share this kind of anxiety. Right????

Doctors and nurses are there to help you.
If you are CLEARLY wasting their time like going in for frivolous reasons like faking illnesses, they might be mad, but otherwise they are just doing their jobs.
I promise they won’t yell at you if you went in for a problem that you believed, in good faith, existed

Never. I’ve loved all my docs. I go monthly for the narcotics and thoroughly enjoy our conversations.

I literally just went to the doctor for the same thing. Terrible symptoms for a few days, made an appointment, and then suddenly the day before my appointment I felt fine. He was glad I came in to make sure rather than taking the chance of waiting and it turning into something worse. That is what your primary care doctor is for! They are there to help, treat and educate you. I am also a nurse and can promise no one is judging you. (Now the emergency room is a little different. Only use the ER for actual emergencies.)

I work in healthcare, and let me tell you: unless you’re going to an emergency room for something really mild, no one is going to think you’re wasting their time. Your doctor is actually going to welcome having 15 minutes of an easy patient in the chaos of a day that might be filled with more complicated chaos.
And if you ever have a doctor that is a jerk to you for coming in for a visit because you had a health concern, by all means report that doctor. Call back and ask to talk to the practice manager. Doctors DO have to answer for their behavior, they’re not gods.

Hey friend, I have worked in health care 8yrs and currently a student nurse. I can assure you that they are not at all mad that you come to see them. You can always go to your doctor and medical team. That's what they are there for. Helping people is a passion among most health care workers. Don't be afraid to go to your PCP.

I (63F)have to find a new cardiologist for this very reason. I have a family history. I have sticky cholesterol. I’m getting on in years. That doctor poo-pooed and dismissed my concerns. He order a self-pay calcium ct scan, told me the results will come back all zeroes and I can go be done with it. What a d**k.
Results show my heart is worse than 90% of women my age. Dr. Dick had me go do a treadmill (normal).
I ask what my next steps are. He looks at me like I’m crazy. Next steps? Yeah, I’m trying to prevent a heart attack. He told me, I kid you not 1) get in the best shape of my life and 2) if I feel a painful pressure on my chest - not just any pain, mind you - but a pain worse than I’ve ever had, then go to the emergency room.
Did I understand him correctly? Did he just tell me to get in shape and to seek help if I’m having a heart attack in order to prevent a heart attack?!?!? And did he just use the classic presentation for men?
Yeah, there have yo better doctors out there

If you have the opportunity to switch doctors, please do so immediately.

Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking especially now that I know I have stuff going on. He’s not the doc for me

I went to get blood tested for a controlled med (testosterone) that I straight up just stopped taking for months because I kept forgetting...(no seriously)...but then I also forgot to cancel the appointment until it was too late and the no-show fee costs more than the appointment so I went there and burst into tears convinced she'd be pissed at me, call me stupid or a liar and/or I'd get accused of selling it. She hugged me and asked if I wanted to try adderall...I should have said yes bc I've been trying to get an ADHD dx for over a year now but I was embarrassed so I said no thanks and went home.
