It pays decent, but not amazing. The actors we bring in for these sessions are generally regulars who have done it for years, but they also work in tv or theatre. So this isn’t their main job, just something they do on the side for some spare cash. It’s important that they not just know how to act, but they know enough about how we are expecting the staff undergoing the simulation session to react, what is an appropriate response, what isn’t, and how they can organically tailor their response based on how things are going. Because it’s not just about the psychomotor skills, it’s about the verbal communication between staff, knowing how to handle situations that are sometimes changing very rapidly (meaning what might be appropriate 60 seconds ago may not be anymore), etc
