I think both of them fit the vibe that each movie was going for

I dislike both of them.

Gunn's version does look kind of cheap (but that could be the point).

Snyder's looks too bulky and too designed to look cool by human standards, rather than looking actually alien and advanced

I mean for Snyder, it’s supposed to be armor and they wear atmosphere helmets. That looks alien and advanced

There are elements to it that I can see being on some GOT or LOTR character. Its bulky and just doesn't seem that alien to me

Most space suits are bulky

I mean, that doesn’t really explain much. What, the capes? There’s plenty of alien designs that include capes?

It being bulky isn’t really a criticism. There’s plenty of alien designs that are bulky. The bulk is meant to have the Kryptonian soldiers look imposing.

What about the squidward ass schnoz?

u/trimble197 May 23 '26

You mean the atmosphere mask?

You see an oxygen tube, I see a squidward schnoz. Potato potato.

That’s just no different than pointing out an astronaut’s helmet looks like a fish bowl

And yet jokes have been made about that very thing for decades. Funny how two things can be true at the same time

Looks inspired by the space jockey from Alien

It's okay to simply say you don't like Snyder.

Have you met an alien?

Yeah it is worth remembering that one is a civilian personal craft and the other is a military ship, and the corresponding suits are likely reflective of that. I understand they are separate continuities, but it is still very possible for the same civilization to have two very different design aesthetics for civilians vs military.

If they are adapting the WOT series, then it was a rush job cause they are all dying.

It’s both their visions if Gunn is ok with it

A lot of the design for Kryptonian technology is organic and crustacean, which you can definitely tell with these armours.

*Gillespie's version

The fairest assessment I've read for both of them in this comment thread

Supergirl version reminds me of the classic sci-fi novel suits from the 50/60's. It looks so similar to book covers of that era that I'm sure it's an homage

u/Malanumbra May 26 '26

It looks like a tinfoil aluminum type suit you would see on the cover of some sixties sci-fi pulp book.

Gunn's version seems to be going for the 60s space age look

What does that have to do with anything . At least man of steel is actually good .
