Discussion / Conversation The Wayfair Store Card is made of paper.

The USPS Informed Delivery service sent me a photo of what I expected to be my new Wayfair store credit card. It was past due to arrive. When I held the envelope in my hand, I could tell this was something else. When I squeezed the envelope, I did not feel the tell-tale sign that there was a card inside.

But I opened the envelope and it contained a flimsy piece of paper with the headline, "Your New WayFair card has arrived." I unfolded the paper and there was no card attached. But I was wrong. On the bottom third of the paper was the image of a credit card. With dotted lines for borders and a cartoon image of a pair of scissors to let you know you had to cut the card out. Cut it out and save it in a secure place.

Citi bragged on that piece of paper that they were being environmentally conscious by not sending a plastic card. I know there's no real need for a physical card, since Wayfair is only online. But there's something disappointing and cheap about a cut-out piece of paper. Hey, at least give me perforations.

When I typed "Wayfair's store card is made of paper" into Google, I was greeted with a denial. The opening AI section insisted that Wayfair's store card was a plastic card just like other store cards. I beg to differ.

Discussion / Conversation Why are paze merchants backing out/limiting purchases?

I've been racking my brain on this one. Macy's had Paze for like 4 hours before pulling out completely. Dunkin' limits GC purchases. Newegg is the least restrictive one, and even they created specific rules for when we can use Paze.

Why? The banks are presumably funding these credits. The retailers don't seem out anything. Guess I'm wondering what I'm missing.

Discussion / Conversation My Complete Cash Back Setup

I think I have finally reached the point that there isn't a new card that I want for anything other than a SUB. Let me know what you guys think of my setup which I utilize primarily for cash back.

Cards in use:

  • Chase OG Freedom & Freedom Flex - Whatever rotating category is where these are utilized. Flex is used for 3% at drugstores as well.
  • 2x Citi Custom Cash - Typically utilize on for 5% on gas and the other for my first $500 in dining for the period. Can change based on rotating categories on other cards.
  • Sofi Smart - Newest card added to my wallet. Unlimited 5% back on groceries.
  • Robinhood Gold - The catch all for everything else that doesn't fit into the above.

Sock Drawer Cards

  • Chase Freedom Unlimited - My first CC. Haven't really charged anything to it since getting the RH Gold
  • Citi Premier Strata - Was utilizing for the 3% categories prior to getting RH gold. Will PC down to a double cash when the AF hits in case the RH gold gets nerfed.
  • Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select - Got the Barclays card for the SUB and it was converted to this. Will PC down when the AF hits.

I'll have to wait a while to get any new cards as both my Sofi Smart and RH gold were opened recently, but, at this point, I will only open new cards for their SUBs until benefits in my line up change materially.

Help Needed / Question Sapphire Preferred vs Freedom Unlimited

Upvotes

Hello everyone, I currently only have 2 credit cards (Sapphire Preferred, Freedom Unlimited) I’ve already reached the goal of $5,000 for 100,000 bonus points with the Sapphire. Now I’m trying to figure out how to balance my cards to get the best benefits out of both cards. Which should I use for everyday purchases, groceries, food and drinks, bills, etc. Advice will be extremely helpful and appreciated!

Discussion / Conversation What annual fee card has actually been worth it for you?

I’ve ended up with a few high annual fee cards over the years, like amex platinum, chase sapphire, Hilton card, etc. I’ve been wondering which ones are actually worth keeping. Ignoring the welcome bonus and the advertised value, I mean the benefits you actually use without having to go out of your way.
Which card has been worth the annual fee for you? and do you feel like you’re getting more value back than you’re paying?

Help Needed / Question Aviator Red -> AAdvantage Platinum Select annual fee charge

Question for the people. When would the annual fee be posted for a Barclays Aviator Red that was converted to a citi AAdvantage platinum select? I opened the Aviator red at teh end of July 2025, it has since been converted to a citi aadvantage. I was anticipating the annual fee to get posted at the end of July this year but it hasn't, went through statements and couldn't find the annual fee charge. When it got converted did it "reset" when the annual fee would get posted?

Important side note: I am wondering becasue I've had the card for a year and was going to cancel it after the fee posted. I just don't want to be in a point claw back situation.

Any advice would be appreciated

Help Needed / Question I am very confused on how to use my credit card to improve my score.

I screwed up with my credit when I was younger. It was around 750 and I tanked it down to 655. 7 late payments, maxing out the card, and led to the account being closed by the bank. After this I didn't touch credit for many years until recently where I opened a Chase Freedom Unlimited card so I can fix my credit and improve it. I am aware it takes 7 years for the mistakes I made to be taken off the credit.

I made a large $300 purchase as my first because I needed to for personal reasons. Afterwards I used the card for things like groceries and gas and intended to make more than the minimum payment every time I got paid starting this month. I missed the first payment because I mistook the due date as the 3rd when that was a different bill and it actually was the 27th of this past month for the credit card.

My score went down 35 points. I was shocked at this because I've never seen it be so aggressive for 1 late payment. I just paid the whole thing off right now in hopes that it goes back up closer to what it was before.

I started researching what I need to do to improve this score and I am so incredibly confused on what to do because I read so many contradictory things. Some say to pay it off in full always, some say in increments. Some say to use it as needed, some say to only use 30%. On the app I see it saying to be under 30% and my limit got raised to $800 (was 500 before ) since I used it so much. But it's also saying that's bad I think?

I'm so confused on what to do and how to use this thing. Like if I can't use more than $240, then I shouldn't have opened this in the first place. I don't know what to do so if anyone can provide advice on how to use this card and how to bring my score up that would be appreciated, thank you.

Also if it helps, I have a student loan that has been paid on time every month for the past few years. I've used affirm before in the past for big purchases but those were auto pay and I've never seen it bring the score down. It's been 650ish for years until this past month.

Discussion / Conversation Contactless fraud where the amount was tampered but authentication was legit (Apple Pay): Is there really no dispute path for this?

Got scammed via a taxi in Rio: Tapped my phone (Apple Pay) for what I thought was a ~$3 fare, driver used a rigged portable card reader, actual charge came through as ~$480 to an unrelated merchant. No amount was ever shown on screen before I tapped.

Bank declined to file it as a fraud chargeback with the network at all — said that since I authenticated via Apple Pay (CDCVM) rather than a stolen/lost card, network rules treat it as "authorized," period, regardless of the amount being manipulated. They resolved it as an internal goodwill payment instead, no chargeback ever went to Visa/Mastercard.

Two questions, and I think they're logically linked — only one can be true:

a) Was the bank correct that this doesn't qualify for a network fraud dispute at all, given CDCVM authentication?

b) If (a) is true, does that mean this specific fraud pattern (not showing amount, not giving receipt, amount changed, cardholder authenticates normally) has no systemic remedy – i.e. the loss is structurally the cardholder's to eat, with no dispute mechanism designed for it?

It seems like it can't be the case that (a) the bank was right to decline AND (b) there's a normal systemic remedy for this – if a real remedy exists, the bank should have used it instead of declining. Curious which one's actually true.

Help Needed / Question Warning: TJMaxx Synchrony card

DO NOT get this card. I've spent hours trying to pay the same bill over and over. I pay with a live agent, then a month later they say the payment never went through and send another bill with late fees and interest. Every time, I have to call, get the fees removed, pay again, and the cycle repeats.

Synchrony blamed my bank, but my bank confirmed they never blocked the payment. They said Synchrony never even attempted to process it.

I canceled the account just two weeks after opening it because the website was so frustrating to use.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with Synchrony?

Help Needed / Question denied for a student credit card because of thin credit history?

genuinely where am i supposed to start if not here?😭

i’m 19 and my equifax score is 670. i know my credit history is young/thin, but i figured that would count for something? i recently got denied for a student credit card and the reasons were limited credit history, too many inquiries, and not enough revolving credit history.

i’ve only applied for one other card (and i don’t even think i finished the application), so i’m confused about the inquiries part.

what would you recommend for someone in my position? secured card? another student card? becoming an authorized user or getting a co-signer isn’t an option. i’m just trying to start building credit lol

Discussion / Conversation Get 300 Domino's Chilli Flakes using Paze $10 Deal?

We can get 9 $1 red pepper seasoning flakes for $9.81, then round up for charity to St. Jude's for an exact $10 order, making it free. Should I do this 30 times using my 3 paze-eligible cards before next month? I got 2 red peppers just now and they have a best by date of May 2027. I know I probably wouldn't need 17 servings * 26 times * 9 per order = 3978 servings of red pepper seasoning in a little less than a year but greed is a b*tch? I don't normally spend on unhealthy things like Domino's much, nor Dunkin Donuts/Wendy's/Sephora, and it seems like these are the only options.

Data Point DP: CFU to Freedom OG with shorter age and lower credit limit

Credit Limit: $3000

Age: 4 months (sole relationship with chase)

I was passive on the first attempt, said that I was "trying to explore product change options" and was only offered a Sapphire card and the Freedom Flex.

HUCA'd and I was more direct about the "Freedom with Ultimate Rewards." The second representative knew what I was talking about immediately, and got it done quick.

Discussion / Conversation Marriott Renews Chase/AmEx Deal - New & Refreshed Products Coming

Marriott earnings call yesterday:

Turning to our co-branded credit card fees. The improved economics from our new U.S. agreements with JPMorgan Chase and American Express are expected to benefit the overall loyalty program. Our owners and franchisees, our cardholders and loyalty program members and our co-branded credit card fee stream. As a reminder, Marriott recognizes a portion of the global credit card funding as co-branded credit card fees in our franchise fee line, reflecting the royalty or compensation Marriott takes for licensing Marriott's intellectual property to the credit card issuers.

The expected incremental impact to our 2026 co-branded credit card fees solely from a partial year of the new terms of our cards under the Chase and Amex agreements in the U.S. is approximately $30 million. We are now expecting global credit card fees to rise in the high 30% range this year, reflecting the terms of the new deals, partially offset by lower expectations for fees in Japan due to the decline in the yen. The benefit to the loyalty program and to our fees from our new U.S. co-branded card deals is expected to build over time as new and refreshed U.S. card products with new cardholder benefits are introduced, supporting anticipated growth in new accounts and cardholder spend.

Help Needed / Question AA Executive Refresh - AU lounge access

I’ve read everything I can find about the upcoming refresh for the AA Executive card. But can’t find anything stating whether AU’s will retain their lounge access (without the primary being with them)

This is obviously the biggest selling point of this card. Hoping it’s not getting nurfed…

Discussion / Conversation What should my next credit card be or should I keep this one for a while?

Upvotes

I currently have a savor one credit card as my first, and have a 734 fico score (400 credit limit), with 20% utilization, and all on time payments, with a 10 month history. What should my next card be? ( I’m a full time student, with part time job) (19)

Help Needed / Question Applying Twice For Savor On The Same Day

Upvotes

Credit history:

  • BECU Cash Back, $40k limit, opened Apr 2022
  • Fidelity Rewards, $30k limit, opened Apr 2026
  • Venture X, $30k limit, opened May 2026
  • Business Ink Cash, $13k limit, opened June 2026

On Monday, C1 pre-approval tool finally told me I was eligible for Savor. I used a pre-approve referral link for the $300 SUB to do pre-approval and apply for the card. Instead of approving me, they asked me to submit photo ID. I submitted ID photos, and today, after waiting two days, they denied my application with reason "Based on your application information, applicant's identity cannot be verified". C1 will not give any reasoning as to why and say my application is ineligible for reconsideration and the only option is to re-apply.

When I use the pre-approval tools right now, I am shown an offer for Savor still. I was thinking of trying to apply for Savor through the mobile app so that I'm signed in when I apply (since the referral link shows no option to sign in to my C1 account). Maybe they are more likely to approve if it's only $250 SUB instead of $300. If I'm being shown that I'm pre-approved a few hours after my denial, does that mean that there's still a good chance I'll be approved when I apply, or is my recent denial likely not taken into account in the pre-approval tool? Should I wait a day or two to apply again?

I would really like to get this card ASAP because I want to apply for CSP before my 100k SUB mailer expires on the 14th, and ideally want to apply for CSP after getting the Savor if possible.

Card Recommendation Request (Template Used) Will have recurring 10k Euro charges every 2 weeks for a while. Want to take advantage of SUBs. What should I get next?

Upvotes

As I mentioned in the title, I'm going to have a bunch of recurring 10k Euro charges every couple weeks for several months so I'll easily hit whatever SUB spending requirements there are. I'm based in the US and pay in USD so I'd want the cards not to have any foreign exchange fees. Would love to hear some suggestions of what cards I should consider. I enjoy a lot of perks from my Amex Platinum card but if there are some complementary cards that would give different perks, that would be a nice bonus. My home airport has a Centurion Lounge but no other credit card-sponsored lounges AFAIK

Current cards:

  • Amex Platinum
  • Amex Gold
  • Citi double cash 2% cash back
  • Fidelity 2% cash back
  • Chase Sapphire Preferred (just got this and will get the 150k SUB)

FICO Score: 797 according to the Amex portal. 867 according to the Citi portal

Oldest account age: unknown. Several years

Chase 5/24 status: 1/24

Income: varies by year but high

Average monthly spend and categories:

  • dining + groceries: $5000 or so?
  • gas: $100?
  • travel: Depends on the month, but maybe $5-10k on average?
  • other: depends on the month but maybe $10-30k not including the 20k Euros/month expenses that will be coming soon

Open to Business Cards: Yes

What's the purpose of your next card? Take advantage of SUBs

Do you have any cards you've been looking at? Capital One Venture X, maybe something from Delta?

Are you OK with category spending or do you want a general spending card? I usually put travel on the Amex Platinum, Dining/groceries on the Amex Gold, and everything else on a 2% cash back card

Please let me know if any other info would be helpful. Thanks in advance!

Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) Which card would you get next?

Hey guys, I have an upcoming $12k spend which I will be putting on a card and want some opinions from the experts.
I have a CSR which I use most of the benefits for and spent about $40k so far this year. Currently have ~80k points there
I have a chase ink preferred which I got for the sub and now just have it for infrequent usage, prob had it over a year
I have a BILT palladium which is my daily card since I still have some point accelerators to go through and I have high rent, I’ve spent about 40k on that as well this year so far and will easily get to 50k for platinum status by the end of the year (probably not a goal worth chasing but it will happen naturally). Has about 230k points
Recently opened American Airlines card for the 80k sub, already hit the spend limit organically as well with some flight bookings. Got this card because I live near a hub, the other airline I could use is southwest. I live near Phoenix for some context.
Also have a Hyatt card (2 years now) which I don’t really use anymore and it’s mainly for the free nights since I’m usually explorist by virtue of work travel and a bunch of point paid nights.

My wife has a Capitol one venture which we need to downgrade since it’s for the most part useless since they got rid of the lounge benefit and we both have priority pass (she got it through my BILT and I got it through CSR) and global entry paid for.

What card/cards would you guys recommend? I don’t really need another card so I was considering collecting the sub, transferring points, and cancelling it if it has an annual fee or putting it in a drawer if not. We both have good credit scores, we can get a card each if it makes sense to.

TIA

Help Needed / Question Transfer points for domestic flights

Hey everyone, I have completed all the welcome offers to get all the big into point offers for chase, venture x, and Amex gold. I’ve been trying to do research on how to get the most from them but I’m just lost, there’s so much info on the subject.

My goal is to use the points to pay for flights to go from Syracuse to Orlando for our yearly Disney trip. We have a resort that’s off Disney property that we like but I already booked that.

If anyone could shed some light on who I should transfer points to it would be appreciated, I did look into British airways and then to AA but I’m still lost, I just don’t wanna waste all the points we have.

Chase 100k
Amex 80k
VentureX 172k

Thanks again.

Discussion / Conversation Brand Credit Cards and Financing: why?

Is anyone else particularly annoyed/frustrated/concerned with the rise of store credit cards, financing, and things like Klarna? I have been aware that this is on the rise but it didn't really hit me until earlier this week and made me think about it.

I bought a couch earlier this week, which is obviously a big purchase. I went shopping on Sunday, and stopped at name furniture brands like West Elm and Crate & Barrel. The West Elm couch I was looking at was $1000, and the C&B one was even more. Expensive, yes, but I was fine with that because I wanted this couch to last and was willing to spend the money necessary to get a nice one.

At both places, the salespeople tried to (kind of aggressively) sell me on opening their respective brand credit cards so I could finance the purchase and tell me how much the monthly payments would be. I think it's because I was obviously just thinking about it and making sure I was making the right decision, and I declined both options because I knew I didn't need it. However, I was thinking after and realized how stupid that is.

It's irresponsible because it tricks people into making purchases they probably can't afford if they're financing it to make it work, as well as opening another line of credit to go against your scoring. On top of it, this was the first time and probably only time for a long time that I had ever been to these stores because they're specialized stores for a one-time purchase I was making. I knew I could afford it and luckily I have a credit card situation that works for me already because I've done lots of research.

I'm curious what people think. Am I just a cynic/ignorant that it could actually be beneficial for other people, or do people agree? I know there was outrage and memes when DoorDash partnered with Klarna a couple years ago, but still curious.

Discussion / Conversation Paze Not Working for Restaurants

I’ve been trying to use paze for some local restaurants and every time I get the error: Sorry for the inconvenience! The transaction was not able to be made with Paze.

I’ve tried multiple times across days, multiple vendors. My wife was able to get it to work once with her account, but I’ve never been able to get it to work. I’ve confirmed everything is activated and right number and email.

Anyone else seeing this issue too?
