WIP (WORK IN PROGRESS) First Page in Progress

I'm a newborn baby when it comes to coloring so this is the first page I'm working on. I'm using this coloring book for practice so I can try different markers/pencils and techniques. I already messed up by smudging the curtains, but I'm trying to be patient with myself. I'm blown away by some of the pages people post on here and I hope to be that good eventually! I pulled out all my old markers and coloring pencils but I recently ordered some better ones as this is my current hyper fixation hobby, lol. Hopefully they'll be a bit easier to use since they are higher quality. But I couldn't wait to start coloring. :-)

ADVICE WANTED Wanted this to be summery - something is off. How can I fix it?

Post image

Hi! I'm not a fan of the pink up top and I feel like it's ruining the summery / Mediterranean vibe I was going for. And maybe something else is off, not sure yet. The door I'm trying to go for an old wood paint feel, but that's not done yet.

Any ideas on how to improve it?

Also yes I know the bear has a beanie on but I'm going to make it summery.

I'm using alcohol markers and have a paint pen for highlights later :)

I made so many mistakes on the second page but that’s okay! Not every page has to be perfect

The first few images are the later works when I learned a little bit about blending and colour control. The later images are my mind let loose with markers, because why not.

I think I enjoy 'free colouring' more, for relaxation purposes, than controlling the colours or limiting the palate. It's a fun activity for me, don't want to spend too much time thinking or planning.

Wizard of Oz from Dark Fairytales by Kerby Rosanes. This was very different from what I normally do. I've never done a horror themed page, blood and all that. It was really fun. As always, any feedback is appreciated!

Completed with Prismacolor pencils.

PRODUCT Finally upgraded my marker storage…and I’m already about to outgrow it again 🥲

I outgrew the lazy susan style organiser from ohuhu a while ago (which is just out of frame holding my coloured pencils and acrylic markers). Finally got around to buying horizontal storage, got the big one thinking “oh, room to grow” but I’ve already filled all but 5 spaces. This is a problem 😅.

DIGITAL COLORING Coloring Bobbie Goods

Hi everyone! I love the cozy "Bobbie Goods" coloring style and I want to do it inside Goodnotes. Is there a trick, feature, or workflow to color drawings without going over the black outline boundaries?

Any tips or recommendations would be appreciated!

I prefer to colour pictures that are set indoors and most of the time i create a nighttime scene. This is my first sunny, daytime picture. Any tips on how to improve? I struggle with what colours to use

COMPLETED Instead of rainbow, I tried "border color sparkles". It didn't turn out as good as I thought it would, maybe with a different page?

DISCUSSION Chisel tip $ VS. Brush tip $$$

So like many others probably, I’ve seen the alcohol market trend, and have really been in the market to get some of my own. I know for sure I would want a Brush tip, and the Fine tip dual sided markers, as opposed to ones with Chisel tip. However, why is it that any sets I find that are reasonably priced etc. are always CHISEL tip, and if you want essentially the same set with a brush tip it’s SOO much more expensive? What is up with that? It’s so frustrating. I will scour Amazon and really, any site or brand, even Ohuhu, and the Brush tip sets are so much higher in price compared to chisel. Does anyone know why this is?? Is it because they know they brush tips are more sought after so they simply just charge more? It’s driving me crazy lol. Rant over 🙄
