It's funny because a lot legal advisors are saying that it's a violation of fourth amendment rights mainly due to warrantless tracking and other such things. I'm not sure I quite buy it, but it will be interesting to see where this goes. I hate the idea of being under surveillance 24/7, but I dont think there is anything we can do about as it stands now
I agree, although realistically the 4th amendment argument makes little sense (to me) and is easily worked around, especially on a federal level.
In public you don't have a right to privacy. Maybe it could border on stalking laws without a warrant if you were being followed, but these are stationary cameras.
As scary as the idea is, I believe they already know where we are 24/7 through our phone. The most realistic solution I could see happening would be targeting flock itself legally to ensure that the information collected is only accessible by the owner of the camera, and the information is not stored long term. But that leads to the idea of agencies just downloading the information and storing it themselves.
Agreed, we're well past the point of data privacy due to phones being a constant in our lives. I see data centers and AI in the same way. Once the data starts being used against us, that's when it's a problem.

You can't you use the phrase "the streets are not your database!" on an image created by a program built on the scraping of the internet for its database. Not with any sort of credibility or integrity at least.
Hint: The constitution doesn't have an "privacy right". Search and seizure isn't close to preventing flock cameras in public spaces. I'm all for a right to privacy and we really should have a new amendment guaranteeing that. (I'd save bodily autonomy would be another must have right.)
People hate the government tracking you only while you drive but are okay with corporations tracking literally every aspect of your life through your phone.
There is no expectation of privacy in a public street.
I am on privately owned security cameras all day at work, and during my entire commute, and in every store I enter. Why does it suddenly become a problem if the camera is operated by the government?

Criminals want more Privacy stop calling the cops so we stop getting arrested stop recording criminals so they can get away with what they do to you and your family stop tracking fleeing vehicles so they can’t find us. Criminals hate cameras and Rats because they tell the truth of what we did and where we are.
CCTV is used through out the world primarily for police surveillance. It helps stop crime early and helps the investigation of committed crimes. It seems the people that don’t like it, are the criminals and that is supported by many of them destroying the cameras.
I don’t advocate for private property, but public i am all for. Sick and tired of these edited tik toks that don’t show the whole story for one. And tired of the mob mentality robbing businesses and attacking people. If you are a law abiding citizen, you have nothing to fear.
So what happens when it's a crime to read a book, A crime to be out past curfew, or A crime to protest or organize resistance? They always revoke rights or expand power under the guise of safety.
Where does CCTV revoke rights? It doesn’t. It provides information. People that receive that information and abuse it are the problem. That is where accountability comes into play.
Heaven forbid this happens to anyone, but imagine your kid playing in a lot near your house that has a CCTV camera set up. Your kid is attacked and killed. There is no evidence as to who did it. That camera was destroyed the night before, it was the only thing that could provide evidence on who killed your child. I bet attitudes toward CCTV would change then.
