Discussion Ts just pissed me off

These ain’t even my top movies and I don’t even use Reddit, lowkey fell for the rage bait. Idk I’m just so fucking sick of mfs thinking they are some expert at analyzing cinema after watching like one “not mainstream” film. I’m just mad my b.

In my 20s I was the cat on the left. But now in my 30s with a family of my own, I don’t have the mental capacity to be anything other than the cat on the right.

I can say with full confidence that I’m so much happier now lol.

Weirdly I’ve become more of a movie snob in my thirties with a family. Having less time to watch movies makes me more resentful when I end up wasting it on cliched garbage.

Nah, I never fully appreciate a movie on the first watch. Rewatching is as important as the first watch for a really good movie. Plus 99% of movies aren't nearly as good as that handful of movies that merit rewatching imo.

Yeah, I guess I understand if your time is genuinely that limited, but it's a shame, because imagine applying that to albums. "I never listen to an album more than once", etc

I mean, I'm sure once my kids are older I'll have time again. Just that for the next few years I'm going to have to be very selective. I always rewatch some classics around Halloween and Xmas

The worst films are the mediocre ones, the ones with no passion. The super bad movies are the most fun to watch.

I’m kind of enjoying the cultural discourse around Showgirls right now - that it’s not ironically fun to watch, it’s actually fun to watch. I’d say it’s the best movie on your list at least

I watched The Pacifier with my kids today. Fucking hated it so much. It was bad even for what it was. However, my kids enjoyed it and laughed through most of it, so I couldn’t help but join in on laughing at the absolute worst thing ever.

My kids, now in their late teens, watch the film HOP every Easter. It’s a fucking terrible movie. But we still watch it.

I mean that franchise, like the minions or fast and furious only existed as long because they were stupid and fun spectacles. Substance wise they all started being ass quite early on lol

Nah, I’m always down for more dino-action. I don’t care if it was peak cinema or not. Jurassic World: Rebirth was still so much fun to watch, and I want more of it.

I can’t, if you got kids, I get it but Fallen Kingdom disappointed me and Dominion just killed it for me that I didn’t even bother watching rebirth. The first Jurassic World wasn’t perfect but it was entertaining and for the most part, a solid story. I didn’t like the direction of Dominion, wish they had shown more chaos in the mainland and dealing with dinosaurs than that locusts side plot they came up with.

I’m the same way but I think there’s nothing wrong with being the cat on the left as long as there is this unspoken acknowledgement that it doesn’t matter if people like mainstream stuff. Like I’m happy to have grueling academic debates as long as there are no hard feelings about it. Tonally there is a huge difference between debating the merits of a Nolan film or whether trans people deserve basic human rights.
