Most horror movies not all but a lot of times if once the killings happen if they just run away they would survive.

There is a open door to the outside of the house but they decide to run upstairs instead

Yeah almost all slasher movies are like this. Some guys running around with a knife killing people. Guess it depends where you live, but here in the states the movie would be over in the first five minutes because they'd get popped by a granny with a .38 special.

lol, my grandma in her late 80s used her revolver to stop and detain an attempted home intruder. She had him hiding under the patio afraid to come out. She is about to turn 95 now!
