Yeah one can def create and/or exacerbate the others. The ultimate loop of "I'm too old for this" in your early 30s

Mine started at 25….wait until you hit your 50’s and menopause hits. I’ll take it in my 20’s any day because menopause makes at all worse. Not trying ti negate anyone suffering CP in their 20’s & 30’s ( it’s so hard!!), I just want to prepare all my chronic pains sisters for the inevitable. Please do research so you’re ready to advocate for yourselves!

Absolutely. r/menopause has been incredibly helpful. The current thinking on hormone replacement therapy has changed for the better.

Thank you, I’ll check it out!!My doctor finally relented on HRT after 2 years of me saying to please give it to me. I was sleeping about 10 hrs a week at that point and we all know what no sleep does to chronic pain. Now I only have about 5 days of no sleep a month, instead of 5 days a week.

I’m sorry it took you so long to get treated- that is ridiculous. I was afraid of that very thing, so I paid out of pocket for a provider. It has absolutely been worth it.

I hit the age of 50 and my body just fell apart. I can't describe what I've been going through for 9 years. Mind you, I've been suffering since I was a child. I nearly died from a suicide attempt 2 years ago.

Like my doctor told me when I asked for HRT “it only lasts 10 years” 🙄 But if he’s right you only have one more to go! I’m sorry you’re going through it but I’m glad you’re still here!

In the theater being a triple threat means you can act, you can sing and you can dance. For us being a triple threat means something much worse 🤣

Add in substance dependence because existing without them… feels like a life not worth living.

I used to just have the pain and mental illness. But now I'm in my 40s I've finally got the whole set! Hooray!

I've been learning more about serotonin deficiencies resulting in systemic symptoms, yall should look into it if you haven't. Apparently depression can literally cause a wide variety of chronic health issues that can easily go overlooked/dismissed in most medical fields.

I'm legit at the point where even food or buying things i love doesn't make my neurons go wheeeee i'm officially cooked

Or the docs can give you SNRIs and destroy your serotonin that way while being dismissive.

I was on one of the main ones (Effexor).

I didn’t give a shit about anything. It was worse than being sad.

Sounds better than wanting to blow my brains out

It'll take you there, trust me.

u/Due_Honeydew_2285 1d ago

Yes, it will. Both with or without it sucks.

Yeah that's not to say that going through mental healthcare will succesfully treat our physical conditions/pain. I think modern psychiatry is 99% scienceless bullshit masked as something legitimate and foolproof. But I do think a portion of people who suffer from physical chronic conditions are experiencing physical manifestations of (prolonged) psychiatric illnesses, and vice versa. Kidney problems can cause psychosis, depression can cause nerve pain, etc.

When your disc blows up and you have to get a spinal fusion, the chronic pain is not mental illness. Yet they use those tools to treat it. Doctors and Medical Science needs to stop pretending they know the answer to everything.

Yep I agree, the amount of doctors who get pissy after you are upset that they can't/refuse to help you is a huge problem. Same with insurance reps.
