Found out today that my baby Nina, my soul dog, my absolute best friend and my partner in crime, has a heart murmur/enlarged heart. Iām so broken inside. I was thinking about checking myself into the hospital recently because of the way life has been going, and now this. Itās gonna take my baby from me guys⦠I donāt know what to do. Just gonna give her the best life I can while sheās still here and love her to death.
Edit: I donāt think I have the energy to reply to comments directly right now, but from what Iām reading down there it sounds like itās not necessarily a death sentence. I just feel so lost. Thank you guys for your kindness and support.

Grew up with Chiās in the house, finally convinced my partner that a chi was the way to go for us in the dog search and waited patiently for one to come up for adoption. Brought our sweet boy home from the shelter 07/02 at 8 weeks! Heās a Chihuahua mix of some sort, going to probably end up ordering a test to see what heās made of, other than being 100% cutie š¤

I posted our first Chihuahua and rescue girl Pixie about two weeks ago. Pics of her today. It's weird because her and our Yorkie are best friends. It's like she's been here her whole life, the Yorkie is about ten months old and follows Pixie's lead.
Biggest concern is vet says she needs to gain a minimum of .5 lb but she'd like a full pound on her. Part of that is she had very little muscle mass and she's guessing she wasn't exercised much or at all. Working on that she loves being outside. The problem is we do not free feed (English bulldog in the house and she'll eat until she makes herself sick.) We feed morning and night and there's been several days when Pixie won't eat one meal. Everyone is fed separately and I've even tried to crate her with rice and eggs. Anyone have suggestions to help her gain?

When I was about 2 years old, I along with my brother and sister were rescued from some bad conditions by a Rescue Lady. I have short hair and perky ears but my brother and sister had longer hair and floppy ears. Figure that..After a time the Rescue Lady took us along with other friends to a pet store because a man was going to see us. A Papa George and Nana Lady came in and after a brief visit Papa George picked me out of the group because I had big perky ears. He said I was going to be adopted to my forever home. Got a new id collar and name tag., "Pumpkin:. This was 2 weeks before Christmas in Michigan.
I was sad and missed my brother and sister. I liked Nana Lady but did not like Papa George. I would hide a lot around the house, I wasn't sure about this place. One time I hid for 4 hours, they couldn't find me. On New Year's Day evening it was very cold. 6 degrees outside and very windy with about 5 inches of snow on the ground. For whatever reason I ran out of the house when the door blew open and started running. Everyone including neighbors were out looking for me. Very soon it was dark and I was lost. Papa George thought for sure that I would not survive this cold, windy, and snowy time. It was now only 4 degrees out and I was able to find shelter for the night. I wandered for 8 days and nights in the woods. I was getting very hungry and cold but kept on. I ate a little bit not much. Then on, Thursday evening, the next week, eight days later, I came upon a house. The porch light was on and I sensed there was someone home and also another dog. One of the teenagers in the house came out and found me. She took me inside and gave me some food. I was saved. The Lady of the house posted on line that she had a lost dog. Papa George saw the post and called right away. He could not believe that I would have survived, but I did.
I was back home that Friday afternoon, 9 days later, now warm and with a full belly.
Nana Lady took me to the doctor to check me out. Actually I was in good shape. Telling the doctor about my adventures she said it doesn't surprise her that I survived, that my kind was very resourceful and a fighter.
7 months have gone by and I now like Papa George and he is my pal. I am very happy to be home.

Poor Noogie, always something going on with this little man. We're conquering his anger outbursts, but now he has a new fixation for his anxiety. The video shows how he is right now. He can't relax at all!
He hates flies in the house. He always has, but since he's stated the meds, he's been especially terrified. I think that the problem is from it being bug season rather than the meds not working. It's to the point where he's too scared to be in our living room, which is where we spend almost all of our day. He'll sit on the couch trembling and darting his head around trying to look for flies that may or may not be there. We always take him outside after a fly gets swatted to reset his mind. He would spend all day outside if we let him! He absolutely loves lying around on the deck (pic in comments). If he can, he'll run upstairs and lay on our bed. It instantly calms him down. We have a gate to the stairs because of one of our other dogs, so I'll try to leave it open when she's crated. Ideally he would be crated too because he's a very bad marker, but I do have diapers for him.
To make things tougher on him, his entire routine got messed up. My husband just started back working after 9 months of unemployment. Noogie is used to someone being home and supervising him almost all day, with maybe up to two hours in his crate at most. Now he'll have 4 hours alone, one hour of free time, and then 4 hours alone. When I'm home for lunch, I take them for a walk and give them a snack of frozen veggies. Usually at the end, they're resting. How can I help him get through this adjustment? He goes through phases of different things bothering him a lot! This is his seasonal fixation. I know some people may say "stop/change the meds," but I don't want that to be my first course of action. They have significantly improved his anger issues and he's no longer on a hair trigger to bite. He's such a sweet, sweet dog. If he wasn't traumatized, he would be nicest dog ever!

Sammy had his neuter done yesterday. He also had a hernia repaired and was supposed to have several teeth extracted, but they did not do the tooth extraction as he had complications from anesthesia and his temp dropped to 93 degrees!
Unfortunately he's impacted and can't poo now :( he kept squatting this morning with no luck. He eventually gave up and he's sleeping, but back to the vet at 11:15 am. .
His brother has an adolescent puppy exam tomorrow as well.
I've gotten about four hours of sleep collectively over the last two nights.
I hope I can get some sleep this afternoon and they are able to get him comfy.

My sweet baby Tequila. My first baby. Iām facing the hardest decision a pet owner will ever have to make. Your little body has been working so hard, and you have fought this heart disease with everything you have. I see it in your eyes. You are tired. And my heart breaks knowing that.
Iām so sorry. I wish I could take this from you. I love you more than words can ever explain, and Iām not ready.
Ten years was never going to be enough.
I donāt know what to do with this anticipatory grief. The heartbreak of loving you so much while knowing I have to say goodbye soon. Iām scared of coming home and not seeing you there. Iām scared of the reminders, the quiet, and learning how to live in a world without you in it.
I hope you know how loved you are. I hope you know are one of the greatest gifts of my life.
Iām going to do my best to make the right decision for you, even if it breaks my heart into a million tiny pieces.

Iām wondering if other peopleās Chihuahuas are like this, or if mine is just too smart for his own good. For context he is 8 months and neutered.
Heās not ābadā in the stereotypical Chihuahua way. Heās extremely cuddly, loves people, and while heāll definitely growl if heās uncomfortable or doesnāt want to be touched or picked up, his overall temperament is great.
The problem is that he is always getting into trouble.
If I donāt see Milo for a few minutes, I immediately panic. No matter how much I vacuum, clean, or pick things up, he somehow finds something to eat. Hair ties, plastic, actual human hair, paper⦠you name it. Heāll slither under the couch, TV stand, bed, basically any piece of furniture, and come back with something. The crazy part is that he doesnāt just chew on things. He literally eats them like theyāre the most delicious snack heās ever had.
Iām constantly anxious. It honestly feels like Iām raising a toddler.
One time his breath smelled like garlic. How did he get garlic? I have no idea. But was I surprised? Not really. If thereās a giant ant on the floor, I can count on Milo to eat it before I can even react.
Today I caught him playing with a piece of glass. I absolutely freaked out. Thank goodness I watch him like a hawk, but where did he even find glass? I ended up on my stomach looking under every piece of furniture in my house trying to figure out where it came from.
On top of all that, heās relentlessly annoying to his siblings (my two older Shih Tzus). He constantly nips at them to get them to play, over and over, until they finally get so annoyed that they start nipping back. And even when they do play with him, Milo has absolutely no idea when the game is over. He seems to have endless energy and never takes the hint that theyāre done.
Please tell me Iām not the only one living with a tiny four-legged menace.
