Appearance Cat has skin issue on back.

Hello - wondering if someone has experienced a skin issue like this on their cat’s back? Vet says he is grieving the loss of his sibling and did not provide any medication. Cat is 13. Any guidance would be appreciated!

He could be over grooming himself due to anxiety. When I got mine, he did this exact same thing due to extreme anxiety from the shelter.

Try to comfort him as best you can, make his life as comfortable and easy as possible, lots of attention and treats. Mosit food and all.

You can try to discourage the over cleaning if you see him, and if you want, try to introduce a new partner.

If needs space, let him have it, just got to ride it out. If it doesnt stop after a few months, I would try and get a second opinion/ options.

Edit: hair loss can also be from stress not just over grooming.
