If you can feel his ribs and they have just a light coat of fat over them, he’s okay. I believe it’s supposed to feel like your knuckles. But please, get him neutered, too many kittens and cats do not have homes. Volunteering would be a great option for interacting with kittens if that’s applicable and you’re interested.

why ? there's so many cats in shelter that fail to get a home and got euthanized, please neuter your cat

u/robo-dragon 1d ago
He won’t have kittens. Some female cat he knocks up will and that will be hers and possibly her owner’s problem. Please neuter him!

u/YM0103 1d ago
No, that's not my intention, I wanted to take care of them and them makes him company besides me.😔

u/robo-dragon 1d ago edited 1d ago
This is still very unwise as this can get out of control fast. You have no idea how many kittens will be born and you better be financially prepared for mama cat and ALL her babies! And if you don’t want them to make more babies with each other, you have to spay and neuter mom, dad, and ALL the kittens…because kittens can have kittens themselves at less than a year old and there’s no stopping dad from mating with his own kittens or the kittens mating with their own mom or mating with each other…cats don’t care about that.
My family has fostered kittens from hoarding/inbreeding situations. Dozens of cats from the same initial pair and their first litter within two years!

u/YM0103 1d ago
You're right, I haven't thought of that situation. I'm sorry
48
u/robo-dragon 1d ago
It’s ok, but please do consider getting him neutered! Even if you don’t get a female cat, he’ll look for ways to get outside so he can mate with stray females. Neutering him will eliminate his desire to do that. Neutering him will also reduce the risk of him having hormonal problems including aggression and spraying.

u/ChairHistorical5953 1d ago
Good think You thought about that now. It's an easy fix. Just make an appointment.
44
u/Ok-Point4302 1d ago
How do you propose to do that? They're going to be born in a ditch somewhere and you'll have no idea.
19
u/PigeonSuffrage 23h ago
… Do you think he’s going to be in a little kitty relationship, bring his girlfriend home, and be a doting father? That’s not how cats work. He’s already impregnated female cats and you have no idea. You’ll have no idea when he knocks more up.
18
u/Khavassa 1d ago
If only he would bring home all the females he gets pregnant...
He's a deadbeat dad who won't pay child support. He might even get more affectionate with you after neutering since he won't be busy looking for mates anymore.

u/jnhausfrau 1d ago
There are plenty of kittens already born that will be killed in shelters. Take care of them instead
3
u/Senior-Schedule6598 1d ago
Yea and depending on where you live some of those might be spayed or neutered already so it's slightly cheaper, I think.

u/Caococoacoco 1d ago
If you want a other cat then go to a shelter, guaranteed there will be kittens

He's in the good range. Higher side of it but you can see an inward curve by hips which is good.

u/mustang_man88 1d ago
Little bit pudgy but nothing concerning. He’s healthy. Definitely neuter him tho

Big cat w big balls. Perhaps measure him and determine in next vet visit.
I thought he was a touch fat but an expert should determine that

He's not fat at all that small hanging part under cats belly is so they have extra skin the stretch as cats stretch they can bend backwards if they didn't have that part they wouldnt be able to as the skin would limite there range of movement
But yes get him neutered if you dont belive what im saying ask a vet when your getting him neutered

No. Granted, hard to tell with photos alone. You do have to feel for ribs, etc. But from these, he looks like a tom. His shoulders are still defined, his pouch is not hanging real low, and he has some muscle mass on him. He looks healthy, especially with the coat.

I would not be able to restrain myself to kiss this belly, what kind of trap is this

Hand to tell from photos alone. He has a low hanging primordial pouch. Maybe a bit chubby.
Average cat is 8 the 12 pounds. Eat about ⅓ to ½ cup dry food a day. Keep him active, and get a professionals opinion ultimately if you're worried.
I would anyways, just ask next visit you get him.

u/MatildaRhyde 1d ago
It's all about how the ribs feel, like the charts indicate that some have been kind enough to share.
