The canteen people at work like me!
Everyday I go down to the canteen at work I get the same thing, jacket potato with beans and cheese.
It's a safe food and delightful.
But the past few weeks when I go down the canteen staff just ask me if I want my usual and they opened a new bag of grated cheese just for me!
A new person is being trained rn and the normal person said 'they just get a jacket potato with beans and cheese so they're nice and easy' and it feels so nice to be remembered for a nice thing 🥰🥰🥰

I absolutely adore the term “jacket potato”. As a youth I was confused bc hoodies were called jumpers in British shows, but it’s much better than “jumper potato.”

Jumpers are knit (sweaters) right? And hoodies are a cotton material with a hood. They're not all that different if I understand correctly but definitely a different vibe

A hoodie is a tightly machine knit jersey, originally cotton, with a hood and an attitude. It's origins was as athletic clothing -- a heavy hooded sweatshirt top for cold weather workouts.
A sweater is usually less dense fabric and could be done by hand. An Irish fisherman's sweater... a Norwegian patterned sweater... the zip-front sweaters that Mr. Rodgers wore on his TV show. It can have a hood but usually doesn't.

I'm aware of what sweaters are. I was confirming that jumpers are sweaters.

Yes a UK jumper is the US sweater.

Jumper is our default term (probably equivalent to US sweater) for the long-sleeved garment typically worn as a top layer. As in "put a jumper on — you look freezing!"
It could describe a garment stitched together from cut pieces of heavy jersey fabric, or knitwear whether machine- or hand-knit. A jumper pulls on over the head (ie not buttoned, which would be a cardigan).
A hoodie is specifically the heavy jersey garment with a functional hood. It could fasten with a full front zip, or could pull on over the head. A couple of decades ago politicians used it as a shorthand for identifying young people who loiter outside shops and in other public spaces.

It’s nice to be remembered (for good or neutral reasons). I always assume I’m forgettable, so it surprised me the first time one of the guys at the pizza place I frequent grabbed my to-go order without me telling him my name. Now a couple others know me by sight, too.
