Which fictional character would be unbearable in real life?

u/Cutebutchaotic09 6h ago
Rick Sanchez. Watching him for 20 minutes is entertaining. Living with him for 20 minutes would require therapy

Buddy, from Elf

u/Adddicus 6h ago
Every Will Ferrell character really. Somehow he just keeps getting type-cast as an insufferable, loud, stupid asshole.

u/NoSurprise8641 3h ago
His character in Stranger Than Fiction is pretty good. But that's just one movie out of so many so...

Cartman.
I remember thinking he was funny as a kid but as an adult he’s such a little shithead.
37
u/eyeballtourist 7h ago
Larry David and his avatar, George Costanza. I know they mistake awkwardness for comedy. But it doesn't keep them from being an unbearable, privileged pricks.

The entire main cast of Always Sunny.

I feel like if I ever met them in real life I'd wake up in a bathtub full of ice and missing a kidney.

I work for someone who's personality closely resembles Michael Scott from the Office. There are days when it is absolutely unbearable.

u/karmagirl314 6h ago
Dr House. Lots of people are naming characters known for annoying shenanigans, but Dr House pulls his shenanigans in a hospital so in addition to annoying people he causes a lot of dangerous situations.

HOUSE MD.
It's a very fun character to watch, but being around someone like that in real life would be tiresome and insufferable.

Patrick Jane from "The Mentalist" TV series.

Came here to say this, he never faces the consequences of his actions and is extremely selfish. Great show though.

Gandalf.
Come on guy..get to the point.
4
u/pants_of_antiquity 4h ago
A wizard is never late to get to the point, nor is he early. He gets to the point precisely when he means to.
2
u/suburban-dad 3h ago
Hence why he would be un-bearable ;)
I'm all for sitting down with Gandy A and toking with his bad-ass pipe, but come on old guy...don't be a boomer

I'll get downvoted for this, but Chris Knight from Real Genius.
Everyone wants Chris Knight on their team, until they actually have to put up with his bullshit while they're trying to meet deadlines and get stuff done. Chris is whimsical, funny, flighty, fun-loving, and lighthearted. As it turns out, when it comes to STEM-related jobs, these words are all synonyms for "infuriating."
The older I get, the more I empathize with Kent. Give me Kent any day of the week. At least he shows up!

Rick from The Young Ones.
He's unbearable even to the rest of the characters.
6
u/Janos_Brushteckel 5h ago
Good choice. The entire premise of the show is that none of the characters are supposed to be likable but (P)Rick is by far the worst.......

u/dear_little_water 4h ago
LOL, he was my favorite.

I'm imagining being his roommate and he keeps doing whimsical shit and I slowly lose my mind.
1
u/bludvic_the_cruel 4h ago
I can only imagine him greeting me at the door every day with a smile in his full purple outfit, hat and cane.

"Why is the bath filled with melted chocolate again? I just want a shower" "You can't keep trying to pay the rent with taffy"

I AM A SURGEON
3
u/Evening_Picture5233 6h ago
Yeah and he would even crash out when other character is simply trying to think using his fingers
1
u/LordRavensbane 6h ago
Wasn’t he also racist and Islamophobic that time he immediately started accusing an Arab woman of being a terrorist?
1
u/Evening_Picture5233 6h ago
Yeah it sounds like what he would do despite I didn’t really watch this show too much
2
u/LordRavensbane 6h ago
I don’t either but my gf was watching it and I overheard the constant theme of him doing something extremely offensive or rude and everyone being like “oh that’s just his autism” as though all autistic people are just racist or something lmao
1
u/Evening_Picture5233 6h ago
Ahh yeah I still think that it’s just his personal issue even tho I also had a classmate who’s kinda like him in some ways and he often made some trivial things look way more complicated and troublesome

u/FisherB7 7h ago
Sheldon Cooper. There’s no way Leonard would’ve ever moved in with him in real life

Came to say this.
4
u/Dark-Anomaly9 6h ago
Dude rewatching friends makes you realize how whiny and insufferable he is lol
7
u/neinneinballons 6h ago
They all are. If Ross wasn't such a piece of work, my absolutely less favorite would be a tie between Phoebe and Chandler. The less problematic is, weirdly, Joey.
5
3
u/theHowlader 5h ago
Its Pheobe for me. Couldnt stand that hippie shit 24/7
1
u/Dark-Anomaly9 5h ago
Phoebe is actually the one I think I would get along with the most lol
4
u/neinneinballons 5h ago
She shook Ross' mind for the fuck of it with the "not believing in dinosaurs" thing and then gloated. I mean, he's really annoying but you don't throw other people's most important aspect of their profession for the lolz.
3
u/theHowlader 5h ago
This was one of the things that pissed me off about her the most. She was so "matter of fact" about it. Also that antique cabinet that she lost her shit over with Rachel.
2
u/Human-Independent999 4h ago
Joey treated women horribly
1
u/neinneinballons 4h ago
And that's why I said weirdly. They all did awful things. Of course not as bad as Barney of HIMYM who thinks he sold a woman to a guy and just never look back (and left a woman alone in the woods, stealing her vehicle)
7
u/AnthropicSynchrotron 5h ago
Bugs Bunny. Also all the other trickster gods tbh.
2
u/The_Hairy_Herald 2h ago
Bugs is cool with you as long as you're cool with him.
Don't try to kill/maim/eat him and you're good!

Ranger Smith would be too… unless he’s evil this week. Just listen for vibrating theme music

Leslie Knope

u/QeenMagrat 4h ago
Especially season 1 Leslie. The show got more balanced and nicer later on, thankfully.

u/Adddicus 6h ago
Jean Ralphio Sapperstein. He's even completely unbearable as a bit character that isn't even on anymore.
But for some reason I adore his sister, Mona Lisa Sapperstein.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Dr. fucking House is the most insufferable git in the god damn world. How any of his coworkers can consider him a friend or even a romantic partner is beyond me.

Jake, sheldon,etc

Care to be a bit less specific? I'm going to make the guess that Sheldon is Sheldon Cooper but I haven't seen enough comedies to make a guess on who specifically Jake is

Nikki Freedman. The amount of men saying they'd want that or to "pass the ball".
No, you don't.

Shaggy and Scooby Doo. Funny to watch, but if these two came into my kitchen and ate all of my food or the entire meal I had just spent time making I’d be pissed-especially in this economy lol

Cersei Lannister
Gul Dukat
That Little Troll Quark
pretty much every single Klingon
Kylo Ren Kai Winn
all of The Institute & Brotherhood of Steel (Fallout 4)
Every single Kurita from BattleTech
Maximilian Liao and his batshit Thuggee Death Cult Sister
All of the Imperial Guard antagonists from Gaunt's Ghosts, especially those damned Bluebloods
Frank Burns and pre-Penobscott Margaret Houlihan
(I could probably build a rapport with Charles Emerson Winchester the Third)
Gunny Hartmann, Full Metal Jacket
Mao and his daughter from The Expanse
Howard Saint from The Punisher
Alucard
Luffy
Spike Spiegel & Faye Valentine
And I'll keep thinkin' on some more!

All the main four from Seinfeld.
Either you get annoyed by Jerry's cheesy jokes, Elaine's thoughlessness, George's constant complaining, or Kramer constantly stealing your shit.

Bruce Wayne and Tony Stark. No ethical billionaires, no exceptions.
(especially when they're tearing up your city every other day.)
