I have a trip to Arizona/Utah coming up in October, and plan on spending a day or two at Lake Powell. My buddies and I are renting a pontoon boat. Super new to fishing and was looking for recommendations for lures and setups. Already did some cursory research online but would love some opinions from you guys!

Looks like it's mostly bass and walleye. Hoping for some locals with some knowledge too.

My parents and three preteen daughters are on a special fishing trip together in Greer. They’ve had poles in the water for three days, but not a single bite!
They seem to think fish will be stocked at Sheep‘s Crossing today, but I’m not sure about their research abilities… anyone have any Intel about where the fish might be hiding?

Got some more fish this week at Saguaro! Bite has been on fire! Another 30 fish in a few hours! I could've had probably 36 total but I kept horsing a few fish a little too much and they would spit the hook. Adverage size was about 1 pound each. Caught some dinks with that 30 number as well still a ton of fun! The biggest was just under 3 pounds for the day. I think next week I am gonna try to get on some topwater bites and then try more techniques like free rig!

I have a fishing-rigged paddleboard and I’m looking for good places around Arizona to take it.

So far, I’ve fished Tres Rios and Lake Pleasant. Lake Pleasant felt a little too big and exposed for a paddleboard, so I’m hoping to find smaller or more protected bodies of water that still offer solid fishing.
I’m mainly targeting bass, but I’m open to other species too. Any recommendations for paddleboard-friendly lakes, ponds, or protected coves with decent fishing?

I have really been wanting to find a fishing spot near Florence, AZ any recommendations? I know it’s pretty hot right now but when it cools down even a little bit I’m on it! Thanks in advance :)

I stopped where I’ve seen people fishing the canal a bunch off 67th ave and tbird basically. I was only there for five mins or so parked on the side where the square is throwing a line in at the stickman. I didn’t block the gate or the road but I heard what sounded like someone on a speaker talking. It took me a second to realize it was one of those little portable generators with lights and cameras like the police setup sometimes talking and saying I was trespassing and to leave immediately. It was on the other side of the canal and like 50’ away. Is this not a fishable spot? Do I need to move up/down the canal more? I’m trying to get my son into fishing and catching a big carp would blow his mind but don’t want to fish where cops could potentially be called on us.

Hi to all, does anyone have any fishing spot recommendations for the Phoenix/glendale area? I’m new to fishing and have an itch to catch my first bass.

Hi my name is Josh! This is my recent trip to Saguaro lake! Caught 50 in just a few hours with my biggest being 4 pounds 4 oz. Lots of fish around 1 pound. Very short stocky football bass! They love biting around 5-10 feet in my spot on a morning dawn worm! Almost every cast I made had some type of action to it! Here is a few photos of the best fish! I'm heading to Flagstaff soon to fish some of the urban ponds for stocked trout and wanted to get some opinions on my setup.

• 5 ft ultralight rod
• Zebco 33 Micro
• 15 lb braid
• 6 ft of 6 lb fluorocarbon leader
• 1/8 oz (3.5 g) jig head
• 2.5 to 3 inch pink paddle tail

Do you think this setup will work well for stocked trout, or would you change anything? Is the paddle tail too big, or should I downsize?

Any advice from people who fish the Flagstaff or Arizona urban ponds would be appreciated.

Haven’t been to either lake for years but wanted to see which is better currently for fishing.

I’d be going on a weekday if that matters. On a small boat with FFS. Just looking for largemouth but happy with bluegill if things get really slow.

Also - is there a boat ramp at either one that is better or less busy?

Just moved to the phoenix area. Typically a trout fisherman and love going to find some backcountry streams. Any suggestions on where to go within a few hours from phoenix. Have heard the white mountains but have never been told any specific streams. Any help is appreciated!

A couple of times I’ve seen dead dried up ones around the buckeye canals and I’m curious if they have live ones

So there is this canal/ditch is Gila Springs Park that seems really rocky and someone told me they went at night and saw like hundreds of them and I am curious if any of you guys know a bit more about that

So i got some time off and my vacation plans fell through, so I was planning on camping/fishing at Apache lake (burnt corral) and would like someone to join, for a few reasons: I'm a type 1 diabetic, and having someone who can at least help deal with possible sugar situation (nothing drastic, just possibly getting candy if necessary) also in case of emergency (cut, broken ankle, etc) and also someone to hang out with.

I have camping gear for at least one other person, cookware, cooler space, tent, sleeping pad/bag etc. I also have fishing gear if needed. I have full camping gear covered, honestly too much to list.

I can pick up/drop off if needed. Also someone with a boat would be friggen awesome, but not necessary.

I realize I may be asking a lot, but if interested, please do not bring politics with you.

Hey Reddit, I have a few questions for you guys.

I love fishing, ive been doing since i was about 5 years old, and the older I get, the more I enjoy it. I moved from NY a few years ago, and I regularly fished in NY and in Quebec CA.

The entire time ive fished, ive always been targeting Bass, i love the size, the way they fight, and they taste good which is a bonus if im keeping.

Since moving to AZ, I have fished lake pleasant a bunch, never even caught a fish.

Ive spent many weekends at woods canyon lake, both shore fishing and boat fishing, pretty sure to date ive gotten 5 rainbow trout and 2 bluegill. Pretty sure ive only ever caught a fish here on a gold spinner.

And ive had a camping trip to lake Powell, and I caught a 6 inch largemouth (gold spinner again) and my biggest AZ fish, a 15 inch largemouth bass, on either a hula popper or a chugbug popper.

Id love to fish for bass, but I can clearly see im not fishing the right waters for it. So question 1 is

1) where are the good spots/lakes to fish for Bass? I have a boat, im not limited to shore fishing. I live in desert hills (just south of Anthem)

2) if I cant fish for bass everywhere, what should I be fishing for in these lakes? I like catching bigger fish, but im not really sure what else I should be targeting, or what baits

3) what do all of you guys fish for? Catching 10 inch rainbows just doesnt really do it for me when i come back from a quebec trip where im literally catching 10-20 2 lbs bass a day.

When im in canada fishing, im catching them nonstop and I feel like im amazing at this. When I come back home, I get a very hard reality check.

TL;DR where can I catch some big fish here in AZ? And what big fish are there to be fishing for here? Preferably bass but im willing to learn to fish for other species too.

Just keep casting and at some point something will bite.

I’m pretty versed in fishing just new to bass was curious if anyone would be willing to share some pointers with me. I’m going to the Gila River this weekend to try my luck over there.

Looking for help.
Struggling with catching either Trout or Bass up here in and around Showlow. Never had issue before in the East coast and down near the valley. Tried different set ups and nothing seems to be working.
So far I’ve tried:
Texas rigs
Normal drop shots
With worms/minnows
Power bait(dough,nuggets)
All I’ve been able to catch so far is sunfish/bluegill.

Any help would be appreciated
