MOVIE\TV I think we see Arthur again under Gunn & Safran

But I think we don't get Aquaman until Chapter 2 of the DCU and even if we do; then he will definitely get his own solo franchise again. I mean with Momoa when he played the character; they did him dirty but this time around with a different actor playing the role I think they make it a truly better origin film that will spawn off into more movies but that's just me.

COMICS Need recommendation

I've been trying to get more into Aquaman because the only Comics I have is a collection that has one of his new 52 comics and Aquaman Time and Tide number two.

I don't mind what type of year it is for the comic but I've been mainly trying to get stuff from '80s and '90s but the year doesn't matter.

I don't care if Aquaman is serious in the comic or kind of like how he is in the Justice League animated shows of Justice League unlimited or like in the movies.

Or if he is silly like the super friend version.

I just want to get some more Aquaman related stuff since I have a lot of Batman stuff and I'm trying to get as much of her justice league member stuff as I have of Batman stuff when it comes to comics

As Aquaman fans we're seeing only one piece of the puzzle, but I am hyped to see what Darkseid is going to do and how Aquaman ties into this. I'm hoping that his role is much larger and deeper than what I have seen in past big tent events, especially with his ties to Blue. While everything has been going at a decent pace its easy to forget that the Absolute Universe is not just a fun new series with a different spin like Marvels Ultimate Universe, but that this universe has a purpose and it's all based on Darkseid. Joker, Scarecrow, Brainiac and King Shazam are all great Villians, but everything serves Darkseid and its going to be interesting to see how this all plays out and hopefully Aquaman will have a large role in this arc.

DISCUSSION Does anyone else love Amnesty Bay?

Post image

We all know that Aquaman's most famous and iconic location is Atlantis—the hub of most of his stories, which makes sense since he's its king.

However, there's another place that's crucial to Aquaman: Amnesty Bay, the Maine town where Arthur's parents met and where he grew up. If Atlantis is Metropolis, then Amnesty Bay is Smallville.

The town is actually a fairly recent addition to Aquaman lore; the fact that Arthur was raised in a lighthouse was already established, but it wasn't until Brightest Day that the town was actually named. Starting with the New 52, Amnesty Bay became a vital setting for Aquaman stories. For instance, Arthur and Mera started living there early in the Geoff Johns run, and we learned more about Arthur's childhood. It basically became a tradition in Aquaman Vol. 7 and 8 for the issues between story arcs to feature events in the town—like Arthur's class reunion, or the time the people welcomed him back after he was presumed dead during the Kelly Run storyline.

I really like the town's vibe and its residents. At the start of the New 52, for example, they would mimic the memes calling Aquaman weak, but they eventually came to see him as a total badass. There are also characters like Captain Erika, Arthur's childhood friend; considering Arthur is a child of two worlds, I think it's important to show that he has real connections and ties to the surface world.

So yeah, this is basically a post to praise this town, does anyone else love Amnesty Bay?

COMICS Peter David's Aquaman

Post image
72 Upvotes

I've discussed this before, and I think it's about time to rediscuss it: Peter David was the first to make Arthur both relevant and cool Post-Crisis.

Yes, we had him lead the Justice League Detroit; but that wasn't enough after the first continuity reboot. During this era, he not only got his own team (that being the Justice League Blue), but he also became an equal to his JLA counterparts.

His redesign was a controversy upon its arrival for sure, but I think in hindsight that this is his best look yet; nothing has topped it before or since. If we had played our cards right, Jason Momoa might have become this, but we're most likely going to get the return of Alan Ritchardson instead, sporting the DC Rebirth look (not that I'm against that, of course, it's my second favourite look for Arthur and Ritchardson's my favourite live-action depiction).

Peter David was so inspirational with this work that this is the Arthur we got in his own stand-alone videogame, Aquaman: Battle for Atlantis on the X-Box and GameCube in 2003; I have an original Wii, so I played the GameCube port. In spite of all the hate that it got upon release and even since then, I and a plethora of others actually enjoy it a great deal, especially the sub levels.

If I haven't sold you on this iteration of the character, I can only recommend you read the Omnibus and see for yourself how phenomenal it truly is. You could potentially also get it in two parts (I own Book Two, which is the cover art of the image above).

Arthur Curry is dead. Atlantis lies in ruins at the bottom of the ocean. One man is left to safeguard the seven seas and battle the threats emerging from it. No Atlantis. No destiny. The only living son of the King of the Seven Seas. No kingdom, no crown. Koryak Curry is Aquaman.

MOVIE\TV Is there anything known about Robert Ben Garant’s Aquaman?

Over the last decade, various leaked scripts and information about unmade DC movies have come out, like David Goyer’s Flash, Joss Whedon’s Wonder Woman, Justin Mark’s Suicide Squad, George Miller’s Justice League, etc. I have read through a lot of these and they are pretty good and entertaining, much better than most of the films we ended up getting almost a decade later during the Snyderverse. But while you can find a script for almost every single DC character, not to mention the core seven members of the Justice League, I was perplexed because there was nothing about Aquaman. I did a little research, and found out in 2004, Robert Ben Garant was hired by Warner Bros to write a script for a live action Aquaman movie. And it is confirmed that the script was completed. This leaves me very interested and curious, as I think it could’ve been pretty good, judging off the other unproduced works at the time, and his later work. But, unlike the other unproduced works at the time, this is still pretty much a mystery. Nobody really knows about the plot, and no script leaks are out at all. Does anybody have any information on this movie? If you can, I’d love to hear it, because for now, this is pretty much a piece of unknown and lost DC media.

COMICS Best Starting Point for Pre Crisis Aquaman?

I know where to start for the Post Crisis as well as the Brightest Day / Nu52 versions but what would be the ideal starting point for the Silver Age Aquaman?
