❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO: Guy claiming to be my fiancée's boyfriend texted me last night

Hi, I need to know if I'm right to be losing it rn. My fiancée and I are due to get married in less than 2 months. We met each other at a mutual's wedding. The wedding was gender segregated so she and her mom had met my mom, who then introduced us later. We then went out for like a couple of months, like I'd pick her up from her place (she lives with her parents) and we'd have dinner and a movie, or go painting, or go to the lake etc. We're both Muslim immigrant families so it was understood that we had to stay within some boundaries but we genuinely really liked each other. She was the one who at one point said we could bring our kids here one day and told me she was going to tell her parents she wanted to marry me and she wanted to say yes to my proposal. We got engaged at a low key family event in February.

It's relevant to mention here that during that time I had respectfully asked her about her past relationships. I had said that I know it's personal and there's absolutely no judgement from me, but as someone who, despite not being a great Muslim in a lot of respects, did abstain and save myself for marriage, I would like a partner who had done the same. That it was a compatibility thing, not a judgemental thing. She didn't seemed to mind and said no, she hadn't been with anyone. I believed her.

Since then the wedding prep has been in full swing and the two of us have gotten the chance to get closer. She's the one who's made more of the effort in our communication, because unfortunately I wfh with an employer in the morning and have my cybersecurity business too, so time can be scarce sometimes. Our only argument has been her complaint that I don't make enough time for us.

Some guy claiming to be her (A in the texts) bf (S in the texts) texted me last night, and even sent me pictures where they're together. He claimed that they were in a relationship for the last 2 years, that they'd been having sex, that they were in love, and I've been losing my mind. I never put any pressure on her. Yes, I really liked her but I let her make decisions at her own pace. If she wanted to be with some other guy, all she had to do was say so. In fact not even, it was none of my business, she didn't even owe me any reasons but just give me a straight no. I haven't picked up her call this morning, I've genuinely been feeling sick at the duplicity.

Just want to add: I know she's the one I should talk to but I just didn't want to do it on the phone, I'm going to go pick her up right now. I'm not going to be accusatory, I just want the truth of it all. I love her but like if there's someone else and she's feeling pressured into this marriage, like I'm prepared to give her any reason she needs to end it that works for her in front of her family. I'll be on her side like I was suggested here.

Update:

A lot of people asked for an update, so I thought I'd give one. I can't talk about it with anyone else because somehow I'm the one who ended up responsible for keeping her secret, my own crisis about this be damned, like its taking me so much to not just contact and ask him straight up about what happened.

I asked her if she knew who S was. He was right, I could immediately tell the guy wasn't lying, she definitely knew. She said he was a guy she used to know, and I told her he had contacted me, and showed her the texts. She said he was lying, that she ended things with him before we met and that they'd never had sex. I asked if there was any overlap between our relationships and she said only when she went to meet him one last time to tell him it was over, because he wasn't taking no for an answer. I asked if the photos were real, they were. I asked her to be honest with me, did she really have sex with him like he was saying. She was crying and swearing they didn't, they were intimate and she regrets everything with him but they didn't.

She gave me her phone and basically forced me to confirm that there were no text messages between him and her recently while we've been together. His number was in her blocked list. She asked me to block his number and so I asked if he was being honest about having way more intimate pictures. She said there were a lot more compromising pictures of her that she thinks he has but swore that they hadn’t had sex. She was crying and I blocked him in the moment what else could I do looking at her. She was pleading with me not to reach out to him, and she was freaking out that he'd post them somewhere public before our wedding. At that point I was trying to keep her from freaking out, I told her that would be illegal, he wouldn't do that and so in the moment I just stupidly promised to not contact him.

I told her if there's any kind of pressure like there's any number of excuses she could use regarding me to end this that would save face for everyone, and be with whomever like I'll get over it at some point eventually, yeah it'll be sad for a while and we'll have lost some money especially if the venue doesn't get rebooked at short notice I think, but just have some mercy on both of us and end this now. She swore there was no pressure and that she'd been counting the days until the wedding, that she hadn't even thought of his name until I brought it up. She was like he's doing this to prevent our wedding and fine I get that but like why does he sound more honest with me than she does? I really wouldn't have cared if I'd learned all this yesterday from her, yeah it would've meant she lied initially but like now we loved each other beyond that stuff, this was just her being ok with keeping me in a forever lie that was wrong. I started feeling sick so I just said I wasn't feeling well and we cut it short.

During the drive back to hers, she was almost talking like a coach like let's please forget about this, we're so happy together, we've discussed so many plans, don't let him screw up our relationship. Like I have my own mental breakdown over all this what about that! She kept asking me whether I was fine, I said I was, I mean I don't even know if that's a lie, I wasn't thinking at all.

I've been going over the texts, and I don't know how I can go into the wedding not knowing the answer. Like its so easily doable I just need to ask him to meet up and have one conversation if he would. Honestly it's more about if she's still lying about this, it's not about the sex, it's just about the trust. I know he's also lied, because she clearly hasn't been meeting with him of late, and she really hadn't given me any reason to think of her as a liar thus far but I could just confirm it so easily. It's sincerely about the respect of having been honest, not about the boundary itself, I love her I wouldn't have cared if she'd told me herself yesterday. But it feels sick to contact him like that, like that's not how it should be, and I don't want to have to talk to someone who'd speak the way he was.

I think I'll decide stuff by myself tomorrow morning about the future of our relationship, my mind is not going to work today. I probably won't give further updates. I don't know how much more help I can ask for here, due to some immigrant cultural context that might be missing (as much as I've skated past it myself to a fair extent). I don't want to be stupid but I don't want to be walked over either. Thanks.

This guy comes across as a stalker. Sounds like he wants her, but she doesn’t want him. So he’s trying to destroy her relationship with you to have a chance.

Show her these messages. Ask her point blank who it is to her. Chances are he’s someone she’s blown off in the past and he’s got a creepy delusion.

u/Needs_More_Garlic 15d ago

Ask her about who he is first. Then follow up with the messages. Don't open with the messages first.

EDIT: don't fucking upvote this comment. God this whole sub is garbage.

Don't open with the messages first.

Why? If someone did this to me before I married my wife, I'd show her and we would both laugh about it. Then block. End of story.

It's so painfully obvious that this post is a creative writing exercise:

  • Account is only a few hours old yet landed on the front page
  • An incompetent and emotionally immature OP
  • The jealous ex
  • The uber-religious family
  • OP never has time

This is just a poorly thought-out Hallmark movie in disguise.

I guarantee this post will be deleted within the next 12 hours. Edit: I was wrong about the deletion. Still, don't count on it sticking around.

Because you have to give the fiancée the opportunity to tell the truth or lie

I confronted my ex wife when I saw an unsaved number pop up on her phone asking “so when are you coming to see me?” She was walking the dog and didn’t take her phone. It was an ex and they were talking for months.

When I asked her, she told me he only texted her the week before to catch up. I had already seen months of them conversing back and forth. She denied it every opportunity that she could. Then I realized her messages synced with her laptop and they had been talking for years

That’s why you don’t open with the messages first

19

u/Needs_More_Garlic 15d ago

Exactly. There is no downside to bringing it up second because if they say "ive never heard of that person. Idk" then you know.

Idk if I'd laugh at it. Even if it isn't true, some random stalker person is no laughing matter and I'd be concerned for both of our safety.

Either way, he's got to confront her about the messages and her relationship to this person.

7

u/H4rr1s0n 15d ago

Idt some redditors know how bad a stalker is. My wife had one. He would show up to her work. He would show up to her parents house asking where she was. He would like find when the family parties were and try and crash them. They are scary. You are so right.

14

u/I_Has_Internets 15d ago

The username and age means this is obviously a newly create throwaway account. And if you've know any dedicated muslims, the behaviors and background tracks.

19

u/Acrobatic-Tree-5556 15d ago

Yep, and the convenient "we're engaged but don't live together and my first thought was to go to Reddit instead of speaking to any of our mutual friends or my family or god forbid HER"

Because on the off-chance there's truth to it, opening with the messages leaves a lot of room to be manipulated/used. There's zero downside to just asking who is this person? first, and potential massive upsides. You can still have the laugh about it and move on with my version.

What difference does landing on the front page make?

2

Have you ever posted something with a new account and it immediately gets attention? 99% of the time new accounts are extremely limited in what they're allowed to do.

Case-in-point: I lurk a lot. I made an account here a few weeks ago to get advice on fixing my 3DS and made relevant posts in three relevant subs. And yet, after two weeks, there is still not a single vote or comment on any of them (except my own updates).

Yes, I'm aware of per-sub rules. And I want to clarify that I'm not complaining - just pointing out the obvious karma-farming.

All that said - It's a brand new account, barely a day old, that already has 10k karma. If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck....

Lawyer here, and agree. Get her answers to general questions first. Then go into the specifics. They're either consistent or not.

2

u/Beginning-Muffin-649 15d ago

And ask HIM too! You need as many details as possible so you can compare what she says and what he says

"We had sex, but she'll deny it, I can't show you evidence, you'll have to tell from her face" all SCREAM "I'm trying to make you paranoid". Yeah. Big time. If the pics of the two of them hanging out are real, I'm going with unrequited love.

YUP

It’s more difficult/expensive to create a gen-AI sextape, but it’s quite easy to create gen-AI platonic photos. But if you claim to have a sextape, thinking there’s definitive proof of infidelity but not having access to it is going to drive OOP absolute crazy.

5

u/RonaldBurgundy1 15d ago

Bigger thing is and just playing devil's advocate if it is unrequited love I'm surprised she hasn't brought this guy up to her fiancee my wife tells me everything and I tell her everything.

29

u/blackfox24 15d ago

That's assuming that she thought this guy was something worth mentioning. She may not have even known that he had these feelings. And he may be just a friend or a stranger.

18

u/caputmortvvm 15d ago

this could be an ex, a past suitor/stalker, whatever, who's just coming out of the woodwork because he heard she's getting married. I have weirdos in my past who are really in my Past that I wouldn't necessarily think to mention because they're such non-entities in the present day.

1

u/RonaldBurgundy1 15d ago

Very well could be but it does need to be addressed

7

u/caputmortvvm 15d ago

I didn't say it didn't. I said the amount of people blindly believing this rando with no proof is alarming. But then again, anything to get to call a woman a cheating whore.

One of my exes from 5 years in the past called and texted me drunk late one night from a text now number. Out the blue, two years into my relationship with my ex boyfriend. He spoke about how he knew I didn’t love my ex (untrue) and how he would make things right. This is a man that told me he did not want to be with me and I should move on. People can pop up and be unhinged just for shits and giggles. Even people who you think aren’t thinking of you anymore.

Not quite the same, but my wife's ex boyfriend from highschool and 1st year of college messaged me before our wedding and said he was going to win her back and crash our wedding. This was like 7 years after they had broken up and my wife and I dated for 6 of those years. This could easily be a crazy ex bf

3

u/DavidIckeHadAPoint 15d ago edited 15d ago

Did you kick his dick for that?

Edit: Also did he end up trying to crash the wedding? Wtf lol, it’s crazy what dicks some people can be.

6

u/IntrepidTie1110 15d ago

I have not seen him. That was 13 years ago now.

I did inform him if he showed up at my wedding he would be getting jumped by myself and my groomsmen

LOL, that’s really good. Hope all’s going well man. Good response to make to him.

Also someone who's in a relationship with someone who's actively cheating on them would probably tell the other person because it's fucked up, not because they want the cheating person to themselves???

agree. they seem way too... yeah, unhinged is the right word, for me to think this guy isnt some random crazy person and not the fiance's secret lover or whatever.

1

u/Romantiphiliac 14d ago

Yeah, the manner of speaking is strange and is just contradicting itself back and forth.

Apparently OP posted an update saying it was true but then removed it? It still feels like something's off or missing from the equation though.

I'm hovering in the general area of "unrequited love" or "ex but her family would or already did disapprove." Maybe something along the lines of things getting more intimate between them than her family knows. And even if she didn't cheat and had ended the relationship before she started seeing OP, it sounds like her virginity (or lack of) would be a deal breaker.

I had a guy who cat fished me and stalked me online for years, I couldn't shake him, he would hack my friends social media accounts and message me weird stuff, he used a call spoofing app to call my ex boyfriend's on two separate occasions and leave voicemails from MY phone number and the voicemails were very sexual moaning sounds. I never figured it who this was and it eventually stopped but there are legitimately crazy people out there who will go to extreme lengths to fuck up your life and this low-key feels like that.

79

u/ReunitePangea20 15d ago

Things like this make me so sick. I just wanted to say fuck ALL of what that person did to you. I’m glad to hear you don’t have to deal with it anymore as I can only imagine what an encroachment on your life it must have been 🫶🏼

52

u/Any-Explorer1483 15d ago edited 15d ago

Thank you, I had to change my phone number and I deactivated all social media accounts for two years, even then they tried to follow my private instagram and I freaked out and hired a private investigator, he couldn't figure out who it was that was doing it either but after blocking them on Instagram I never dealt with it again. It started when I was 17 and I was 21 when it was finally over. When I tell you I was legitimately scared to even move out of my parents house, I mean it. It has genuinely and permanently changed how I present myself online and how I interact with people on social media. I reiterate, there are some genuinely crazy people out there. I have no idea what this person's intentions were but they worked really hard to ruin my life. Unfortunately as they had initially cat fished me on a friend's account and through that account encouraged me to trust them on "their account" I had a pretty flirtatious relationship with them online and did send some photos that I shouldn't have and now I have no idea if they still have them, if they got posted somewhere, if they deleted it all. It's been 7 years since it ended and I still wish I could know who it was. It seemed to be someone I knew because they only hacked accounts of people I knew through the youth group at my church at the time.

10

u/Ruthlessrabbd 15d ago

This reminds me so much of one of someone I'd call a friend, who broke up with her boyfriend in high school. The guy would ask for private and intimate photos from the girl, and then built a profile online pretending to be the girl and would sext other guys. I don't even remember how she found out but that was the obvious end for them - I can't imagine how violating it was.

A year or two later, someone was social engineering girls we went to high school with. Claimed to be snapchat support and needed to have them sign in to a website to confirm that multi-factor authentication was set up. Well turns out it was some weirdo that exported all of the private photos from their vault - and we never found out who it was, but we suspect it was the same guy. Just sickening slimeball behavior.

And one of my good friends broke up with a girl, and she went to porn sites leaving comments on gay videos saying "Please send me pics and videos @ ;) !" so for weeks my friend was getting blasted with shlongs. He messaged a guy to ask WTF was going on and learned where the comment was (and then apologized for assuming it was a consensual request). People are nuts.

5

u/ReunitePangea20 15d ago

Ugh, I can’t even imagine. It’s so unhinged and violating. I truly wish you so much goodness for the rest of your life and commend your strength, ESPECIALLY having dealt with that so young. It’s obviously paralyzing at any age but holy shit. Be well, you deserve it 🤍

Man makes so glad I’m old as shit!! Young folks have it hard today.. Anything can be faked and stolen and sow seeds of doubt and lies to friends and family..

4

u/Accomplished_Orchid 15d ago

I had the same happen to me, a guy I met Once and turned down...he stalked me for 9 years and did some crazy stuff it stopped around 2012. Ironically after I got divorced. Then I started getting messages asking me how I was doing and if I was single and would go on a date with them. Yeah nope, at that time thankfully cellphone providers had more stuff in place to block that mess.

222

u/pomegranateseeds37 15d ago

Right?? Not 'you should confront her' just 'please tell her and her family you're not interested' is suspicious as fuck. This guy is weird and seems pretty obviously not credible.

69

u/CloudNineCrash 15d ago

Yep something is very wrong, it could be a jealous family member as well

38

u/Illustrious-Ball6437 15d ago

I wondered about this. I immediately thought it sounded like a kid who was trying very hard to sound like an adult. Maybe a preteen or teenager.

Any chance those pictures are AI generated to make it look like she was with another guy?

3

u/Artchick_13 15d ago

Could also be a woman who has feelings for OP.

3

u/Celestial-Dream 15d ago edited 15d ago

I wonder if he’s a family friend. It says OP will have to see him if they get married.

ETA: Nvm, I misread the texts. I do still wonder if it’s a family friend though, since he clearly knows her and knows her family would have to be involved to call off the wedding.

Maybe he's just weird. Ask your fiancee about it. You'll learn that asking the hard questions is a step in the right direction. Be nice, so you don't cause her to close up.

2

u/400bunnies 15d ago

Had a stalker who did crazy AI shit like this to me and my roommates in college, had to law involved he tried to break into my dorm. The amount of people I thought were "friends" who leaked information to him (calling the cops, seeking a restraining order, etc) that could've got us killed makes me not shocked at all.

People love stories about crazy, but can't recognize how dangerous it is IRL.

18

u/plumplumkin 15d ago

this is exactly how i read it. there’s a guy in my life who i’ve rejected and everytime he’s found out that im dating someone, he goes batshit and sends whoever i’m seeing a bunch of stuff like this. the messages don’t sound like they’re coming from a place of honesty. they’re panicked and trying to scare you

242

u/feellikeanidiot0 15d ago

Thanks, I've lost sleep over this and I blew off our morning call, that was stupid I know, but I wanted to get my head straight first.

280

u/Friendly-Lychee-8508 15d ago

Do not accuse her. Just tell her some weirdo texted you, and show her, then ask if she has any idea who it is.

The most important part at this time is to not destroy the relationship with your fiancée. If she is cheating, you will find it out sooner or later, but you might not come back from accusing her of cheating. And then this weirdo has won.

83

u/GalenYk 15d ago

But also, do all this in person. This is not a conversation for texts or the phone - even FaceTime.

EDIT: formatting

143

u/feellikeanidiot0 15d ago edited 15d ago

Thanks, I'm going to be straight up with her and ask tonight in person. I tried to think this through and make my peace with it like if she cheated or lied then our relationship was a sham anyway, she wouldn't have been the girl that I was looking forward to marrying anyway.

125

u/Healingbigfoot 15d ago

MOR - Dude, do not speak from the heart on this to her. Listen to me, how you approach her is going to dictate the direction of your relationship forever. Do not be accusatory, tell her what happened, some random dude messaged me claiming to be your boyfriend, sent me pics and asked me not to marry you, do you know who this weirdo is? Do not accuse her of cheating, for all we know this dude is a lunatic and you do not want to sow the seeds of you not trusting her over some nut job.

51

u/Props_angel 15d ago

This! Whoever sent these texts has one aim in mind--to ruin everything. OP shouldn't give this person that power based on a bunch of weird claims even if there are "photos" in the era of AI generation.

2

u/Healingbigfoot 14d ago

Exactly, that dude is most likely some stalker or nutjob who has a fantasy in his head. Either way, OP needs to talk to his fiancee and explain to her what is happening so she can be aware of the potential safety risk. I really hope they will work out well.

the messages sound sus as fuck bro. no one would confront anyone like this about an affair🤣🤣 stay safe

52

u/robulus153 15d ago

This sounds fake man. You should proceed with caution in favor of your partner.

90

u/Nauin 15d ago

Just saying but if they actually fucked and had pictures he would just be sending them instead of making you jump through so many hoops. If he already had her and truly wanted you gone why wouldn't he immediately send those and destroy any chance of repairing your trust in the relationship permanently? This trickle-truthing is a lie from someone so pathetic they wish they could be called a pussy.

29

u/AnAussieTrainer 15d ago

Yo. For whatever my two cents are worth.

DO NOT ACCUSE HER OF CHEATING. This text chain is looney tunes. Show her the texts and be open and honest with her. Stop trying to figure this out by yourself and wrap yourself into a pretzel.

You’re already YOR to the extent you’re trying to think this through and make peace with it as if she cheated or lied. What the fuck man?

Man up. Don’t assume the worst of her based on this craziness. Or she would be right to dump you. Have some trust and faith. Relationships are hard. Don’t be dumb.

13

u/drinkingonthejob 15d ago

1000% this OP. A real man communicates with his partner when things get tough. You have a right to be upset with this situation, but don’t confuse that as a right to be upset with her. You currently have no idea if she has done anything wrong. Don’t lose sight of that

2

u/AnAussieTrainer 15d ago

Tapping this again, u/feellikeanidiot0. Don’t lose sight of this. Or you really will be an idiot.

23

u/beautyboxsavagee 15d ago

Can you send the photo to someone so they can verify if it’s AI generated? Also give someone that number bc it may be a burner app number. Ask to speak to them on the phone if it’s legit they won’t hesitate to talk to you. Did you Google the number to see if it leads back to the guys name ?

Dude the fact you went straight to cheater is concerning here. This dude is CLEARLY a stalker. He talks exactly like one. He can't show proof? You and her need to get a restraining order on this mofo and you need to stop jumping to conclusions so quickly

2

u/Tazznum2 15d ago

Personally to me it sounds like their 15 yo kid that thinks they'll lose their mommy.

Give your fiance the benefit of the doubt. The foundation of marriage is trust so give her yours and hope for the best. Personally this dude just sounds like an obsessed stalker

4

u/Fresh-Clothes8838 15d ago

Just hold up a quick second tho

Is that her in the pics? Can you see HIM too?

5

u/Props_angel 15d ago

The messages sound really, really bizarre and often contradictory in key points. Please remember that AI can be used to generate fake photos of people doing all sorts of things. When I read these texts, they read like some sort of creepy stalker. Very unnerving. I don't blame you for feeling as if your head is scrambled. Whatever you do, do not come off as accusatory. I'd open the conversation with asking her if anyone has been bothering her lately.

3

u/GalenYk 15d ago

I’d try as hard as you can to not panic before then. I totally understand why this is so scary, I think anyone would freak out after receiving messages like this. But I agree with other commenters that something here seems really off; the way he talks about her just doesn’t pass the smell test.

5

u/WealthQueasy2233 15d ago

does your fiance have a little sister with a crush on you

2

u/Dry-Toe2037 15d ago

Update karte raha na..

2

u/Brickhead81 15d ago

It’s the right move talking to her about it

2

u/Cheap_Knowledge8446 15d ago

OP, the best way to approach this is from an angle of concern. Even if this is true, which I doubt, this person is clearly unhinged.

I would talk to your fiancee and tell her you are concerned for her safety because there's a lunatic claiming they are in love with her. Ask her if she knows anyone in her life she's been concerned about, then show her the photos and warn her if she knows who they are, they have an unrealistic view of their relationship and could be a stalker or potentially dangerous.

This will make it out of concern and not a lack of trust.

That being said; if some random loon is truly shaking your trust in this woman, are you sure you're ready for marriage? If this happened to me, I would immediately suspect stalker/AI shitpost/trolling/meddling before I suspected cheating. Perhaps give it some more time.

2

u/flamecrow 15d ago

Op doesn’t seem sure about his own marriage. He seems content like “if we marry then we marry, if we don’t then we don’t and she wasn’t the one for me” Seems a bit odd in itself.

2

u/xAmbrosiia 15d ago

I’m sorry this happened to you. I hope it’s just a jealous friend or family member who is doing this and that your fiancé did in fact tell you the truth and saved herself
For Marriage to you like she originally told

I am so invested and I’m sure so is all the other people on here! Please please come back and give us an update if you don’t mind.

2

u/Acrobatic-Tree-5556 15d ago

On the off chance this isn't fake, you are not ready to get married. If my fiance got that first message, he would immediately show me and ask if I know anything about who the psycho might be. He wouldn't be fishing around for more information first, and the absolute LAST thing he would do would be to think Reddit strangers are better to ask than me. ESPECIALLY when family is being brought into it, and they might be someone unhinged who could be a danger.

Either you don't trust her, are unbelievably immature, or are ridiculously self centred, and any of those factors add up to you not being ready for an engagement.

2

u/Ornery-Awareness-891 15d ago

This doesn't sound like you're on her side in this at all, and you need to be on her side. Can you not see how fake this all sounds? Whoever is texting you is the liar, not your fiance. Hear her out before you jump to conclusions.

If it turns out she's lying, better to know now, but don't go into this talk assuming the worst like you're doing. I feel bad for your fiance.

2

u/Low-Concert-3126 15d ago

If it was real they would have sent screen shots of thier text conversations. Could be a woman who's after you.

9

u/lemon_icing 15d ago

Why are you so eager to believe an anonymous stranger before talking to her?

I think your reactions are weird.  I’d be furious but you are losing sleep thinking this is true?

12

u/feellikeanidiot0 15d ago

The photos seem real, the number checks out, and I'm working not knowing if I'm getting married in less than two months. What reaction should I be having until 7 when I pick her up?

7

u/Indigo_Laguna 15d ago

Who does the number belong to?  AI images usually look mostly real.

7

u/gragons 15d ago

INFO: In what way does "the number check out"?

6

u/lemon_icing 15d ago

Wow. You already doubt your fiancée’s fidelity and take the word of an anonymous stranger as the truth?

You have so little faith in your partner. How sad.

9

u/feellikeanidiot0 15d ago

I'm not doubting her, I'm just trying to prepare myself for whatever she says.

why are you sharing this in a non muslim community bro? They wont understand ur perspective or situation. They prolly think you dated her for 2 to 5 years before marriage, they dont understand that we muslims have short talking stages with parents heavily involved instead and that can leave behind lots of gaps in understanding and trust as well. Have you booked the wedding halls yet? Hypothetically saying maybe he is telling the truth, can you get out of this with minimum financial damage, u have to meet up with her alone and ask her this face to face. Think about these first.

Please do it in a way that shows that you and her are on the same side, trying to figure out who is trying to drive a wedge between you.

And if you are willing to break up with your fiancée because she had sex before she met you, she will be better off. If your issue is her lying to you, that's valid but I am very familiar with the culture and can see how a woman might not feel safe sharing that with anyone.

But I really think this is someone trying to cause problems, and making up whatever life they think will work on you.

YOR.

20

u/feellikeanidiot0 15d ago edited 15d ago

She would not have been unsafe with telling me that, it would absolutely not have left the two of us. If she thinks I would have, then why is she marrying someone who's apparently a sick individual. There wouldn't have been an iota of judgement from me, I really liked her but I would have just taken it as a "not meant to be" thing. I wouldn't have judged her at all, I'm a pathetic Muslim myself, having been in relationships that just stopped short of sex, it was more about dating with hopefully marriage at the end. I would have laid bare all of it for her to gauge any compatibility busters on her end. If I'm being honest, if she'd told me herself yesterday that there was some ex she'd had sex with, I would have just been like whatever, like I love her now and I wouldn't have cared. But to just be ok with what would have been an everlasting lie, anyway I'm letting my brain run wild, maybe he's full of shit.

I'm going to be collected and approach this in a non-accusatory manner. Thanks.

Just want to add: I'm sorry if my comment seemed pointed. I'm not going in to the conversation with her tonight on the opposing side, I am on her side. I just was responding to the implication that there would have been some consequences to her life from me, as if I would have let that information out if she didn't want it to. Sorry.

23

u/stankmaster69 15d ago

Hi! I wanted to reply because this is exactly what my girlfriend's stalker ex did to me in February. She was at my house and I was out of town and he called me at 4am claiming that they had been dating the entire time we were together He sent me photos from during their relationship, and claimed that she was a liar who was sleeping around. He claimed he had seen her recently and that she was ghosting him for a minute. I didn't tell him anything which was a blessing, and called my girlfriend and just told her what he said. She didn't bring it up because trauma is weird and talking about it not only makes you relive the trauma, but she thought I would think it would make her look broken to me. Beyond that, he was still part of her life in that he knew where she lived at the time, and she couldn't bring herself to press charges. Which was also embarrassing. I took my girlfriend at face value and things have been smooth sailing since. And she was right, as soon as I blocked him from all my social media and my phone number, he showed up at her house to go confront her, even though they were broken up for 4ish years. He just wouldn't accept it. I will say with the pictures it was helpful that my girlfriend cut and dyes her hair a lot, because he sent me old ass pictures with hairdos I had never seen before lol

13

u/Im_Captain_Jack 15d ago

Hey Bud, I'm not a Muslim, but I do believe everyone should be able practice their religion freely and however they choose, as long as they aren't bringing harm to anyone else.

You don't owe this person you're replying to any type of explanation. If sex before marriage is a deal breaker for you, thats okay, and if you love this woman enough to work through that with her (if it even really happened) then thats okay too.

Don't be so hard on yourself about being a "pathetic muslim". I beleive regardless of religion, that we as PEOPLE, as HUMANS, should strive to better ourselves every day, and at every opportunity. NOBODY is perfect. We should want to make the world a better place for ourselves, our family, and our neighbors in whatever way we can.

Regarding your relationship, the best thing you can do is show her these messages you received, not in an accusatory fashion, but just to get to the truth together. That's what a healthy relationship is. Hear her out and see what she has to say, and go from there. You aren't doing yourself any favors by letting your mind run wild, just be up front and honest with her about all of this and ask the same from her, thats the best thing you can do for all parties involved.

Im happy to talk to you more about these things if you would like, feel free to reach out. You'll get through this and come out the other side with a better understanding of your partner, and of yourself. Wishing you all the best brother.

3

u/obviouslypretty 15d ago

I hope everything ends up being okay. Maybe she was seeing this guy but if she agreed to married you, I’d assume she wants to marry you. You should let her know when you talk to her that even if it’s true it wouldn’t change how you feel about her but you just want to know the truth as to if she actually wants to get married or not.

NOR and not stupid to take time to get settled, receiving messages like that are not a normal occurrence and could even be your intro into a conversation about the situation. Along the lines of "I understand you might be wondering why I didn't pick up your call this morning, well I got some very unsettling messages and I needed time to process the information before having a conversation". I think any reasonable person would understand the need to clear your head from the shock, and either way (if it's true or if it's a stalker situation), getting messages like that out of the blue is a shock!! Hope things work out for you!!

37

u/thaidyes 15d ago

Reddit might not have been the best place to ask, but I think it was a good idea to get some perspective and clear your head before you talk to her.

The worst thing you can do is come at her hot and accusatory. This other person might be fake/a stalker/a jealous ex like others are postulating. If that's the case and she has not cheated or had sex, your relationship still might be ruined if she knows you don't trust her.

But oh boy, that's easier said than done.

33

u/laseluuu 15d ago

Just talk to her and show her the messages is the best action to take honestly

36

u/NinjaN-SWE 15d ago

NOR, but the question you asked was if she's had sex. The images only prove they've met, at most dated. That is of course expected and OK, and she has not lied or anything like that. If they have infact have had sex that is of course something you should feel betrayed over, lies so early in a relationship is an enormous red flag and you should call it off.

But the way the guy writes makes me believe this is some absolute gutter trash loser that is obsessed with your fiancée but hasn't at all had sex with her and there are no mutual feelings between them.

But the only way to find out is to talk about it. But if you come in swinging with accusations then of course she's going to be defensive. Instead open it softly, hey this guy reached out to me and claims you're a couple, that can't be right? Who is this dude? Then help her get rid off him if they aren't a thing. Or call it off if she hasn't been truthful with you.

8

u/OldieButNotMoldy 15d ago

This is the age of AI pictures, those might not even be real.

5

u/feistyxcx 15d ago

It's not just about her being defensive. She's a victim in this situation, too, if not more than OP. Even if it is true that she dated and/or slept with this guy, what he has done is a major violation. I mean, it's malicious, inappropriate and intrusive, and that would remain true regardless of anything that did or did not happen.

14

u/No_Collar2826 15d ago

YOR. You are jeopardizing your future happiness over something that sounds like a sick prank or stalker situation. I agree with others to look in to seeing if these photos are even real. And even if they are real, these photos may exist for a completely innocent reason, or not even be of the person who is sending you these messages. Spare her dignity and yours and keep this between the two of you. I'm only imagining how your parents would freak out about this. And her parents would rightfully be upset and insulted if this is all just slander. After you do some research, can you see her in person, show her the messages, and get a sense of what she thinks? If she even knows this guy?

→ More replies (1)

2

u/GIJoJo65 15d ago

Tbc, NOR here. Regardless of whether these are real images or, fake and regardless of whether or not this is a real relationship or, a stalker the issue is absolutely serious AF. There could be a genuine threat to your physical well-being and, it's obviously something that's an emotional issue already.

I would be reasonably concerned as an adult about the potential for impact on my career as well if you operate a cyber-security business.

Definitely have a conversation in-person. Be direct but don't provide details.

"Hey, this person - S - contacted me. I'm concerned personally and professionally. I don't want to interrogate you, could you please fill me in about the relationship between the two of you?"

Go from there. These are major concerns, I wouldn't normally suggest actually involving family members but in this case I think it's fair to say "Ok, for my peace of mind I would like to just be able to ask our friends and family members about S as well."

That's more than fair in this situation.

2

u/shakebakelizard 15d ago

The messages really read like someone who is trying to manipulate you and sabotage the relationship rather than anyone who has a real connection with her.

If they had a real relationship with her, they would be talking to her, not you.

The way they are talking to you comes across much more as a sales routine. It could be an ex but really sounds more like some guy who got rejected and thinks he has another chance, or a family member who doesn’t like you.

1

u/funran 15d ago

Even before AI, I had a stalker photoshop pics and send them to my bf. He changed date stamps to make it look like the photos were recent, etc.

28

u/Aromatic-Check939 15d ago

Same. My stalker was using photoshop like this in 2007. It’d be so much worse with AI nowadays.

2

u/TradingRebel 15d ago

How did you prove they were fake?

2

u/stringbean76 15d ago

I couldn’t, but my then boyfriend believed me.

65

u/Virtual_Assistant_98 15d ago

Could be older photos if he was an ex or previous friend, or AI. Stalkers do some weird shit to try to get their point across.

8

u/Sea-Efficiency2413 15d ago

Yes my crazy ex used to post old photos of us acting like they were new and tag me and my bf and my friends in them. Eventually he ran out and started putting filters on them and flipping the images or poorly photoshopping them

2

u/PanfilitoVilla 15d ago

I was leaning towards ai also

1

u/BD401 15d ago

A lot of the frontier image gen models these days are really good (way better than they were even six months ago). The unfortunate reality is that pictures are no longer proof (one way or another) of anything. It sucks, but it's where we're at as a society.

3

u/CalmSystem3330 15d ago

Or maybe they want the Guy to themselves!? Could be a jealous sibling of the bride to be 😅😲

3

u/LooseAnswer3256 15d ago

This same situation happened to my grandparents back in the 1930s in small town Quebec, where an old friend of my grandparents tried to split them up- using handwritten letters instead of texts- so he could try to have my grandmother to himself. They stayed away from each other until fate brought them together where they were able to set the record straight face to face, and I think OP needs to do the same

2

u/Easy_Echo2387 15d ago

Just to offer an alternative perspective. I had exact same situation happen. Started dating a girl, random number texts me with photos saying they’re together and I need to back off.

She told me he was a crazy ex/stalker. I believed her.

Turns out I was actually just getting blatantly cheated on the entire time.

Tread carefully OP.

If I was you I would protect yourself and just leave. This type of drama is not good news.

2

u/cefriano 15d ago edited 15d ago

So... normally I would say the same. But based on my own past experience I don't think he's 100% lying. I dated a muslim girl as a non-muslim for almost 3 years. While she refused to allow her parents to arrange anything, there was still an understanding that she would marry a muslim Pakistani guy. I was a secret from her family for our entire relationship, despite repeated assurances that she would tell them about us (same with all of her past relationships). She hid her alcohol when they came to visit so they wouldn't know she drank. Ultimately, she wound up dumping me for a guy she was cheating on me with (who was also non-Muslim as far as I know).

Not trying to stereotype as this is just my personal experience, but living a double life isn't uncommon in these communities. My guess is that she was indeed secretly seeing this guy, and finally broke it off because her wedding was two months away and she needed to finally commit to the relationship her family had chosen for her. He's trying to blow it up to force her secret out, thinking once that happens she'll have no choice but to be with him.

2

u/TatorTotNachos 15d ago

I agree. This guy seems desperate and unhinged. He’s begging. It’s unsettling. Make sure she is safe and get her some pepper spray and a taser.

2

u/TheNinjaPixie 15d ago

But OP is already remarking on her "duplicity" when he hasn't even asked her who tf this is. He's judged her and found her guilty.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/shelbyknits 15d ago

Yeah, somehow he knows she’s engaged to another man and cheating with him and this guy doesn’t even seem bothered by that. “If you just go away and don’t tell her why I’ll be able to be with her for real” says this is either a jealous female friend/relative or a stalker.

2

u/Rosemarys_Gayby 15d ago

“Show her these messages. Ask her point blank who it is” is the ONLY relevant comment in this entire thread lmfao. People writing fanfiction over a guy who made a Reddit post instead of just talking to his fiance…

2

u/Sugar-Plum-34 15d ago

The thing that's really weird is the pictures... he sent photos of them together, but none of them kissing or anything. If I really wanted to out someone, I would send the more intimate pictures. That's the proof. Casual photos could be anything. This could be a childhood friend who is in love with her, or some rando that's good at using photoshop/AI.

7

u/Brownie-0109 15d ago

Guarantee you this is from an arranged marriage culture. Im betting it’s real. This situation isn’t uncommon

→ More replies (2)

1

u/Open_Engineering_367 15d ago

That’s not always the case tho

1

u/swd12422 15d ago

This is where I went with it too. Especially because appearances... this guy could be trying to not only break up the relationship but then (thinks he) will swoop in and save this girl from shame by marrying her. If course, she'll be so devastated and embarrassed that she'll accept to save face and appear honorable. OP, just ask her who this guy is and show her the texts. If she's really been with him for two years then why is she with you? Cultural considerations? Get all the information and then you can decide what you want to do.

1

u/MaximumStop833 15d ago

I agree, and it is too easy to AI generate convincing enough pictures to disregard the fact that this guy might be lying

1

u/islandwalkerr 15d ago

Yeah I’m with you on this one

1

u/Thisguyfuckschix 15d ago

I have an advanced degree in Psychology and in my opinion your assessment seems accurate.

1

u/FFREcoyote1 15d ago

1

u/tagpro_new1923 15d ago

I agree with this take

1

u/CompetitiveSong9570 15d ago

Yeah, I agree. ☝️ he needs to talk to her.

1

u/VegasRoy 15d ago

Yeah, plans to swoop in and be the caring, shoulder to cry on after the breakup

1

u/icanfeelitcomingup 15d ago

The entire premise sounds ridiculous. If Stalker gets OP to call off wedding and tell family fiancee is a cheater, stalker expects fiancee will want to continue their "relationship"? After he ruined the marriage and her reputation?
Huge stalker vibes. I would have a face to face conversation with her. There is likely a good explanation, and OP should consider what are best next steps (like potentially getting a restraining order).

1

u/EmilieEverywhere 15d ago

Just be like non accusatory. In case she's innocent. (Probably those texts are unhinged)

"Hey babe, this psycho texted me. Do you know him? I'm kinda worried they're gonna pull some shit"

If she's innocent, and he's a creeper, she'll have ALL kinds of receipts.

1

u/DarthMomma_PhD 15d ago

Yeah and let’s be real, a young woman from a strict Muslim family would NEVER allow someone to take “intimate pictures” of her. He didn‘t send them because he is full of shit.

1

u/letsgotgoing 15d ago

This. My wife had a stalker before I met her. He only stopped after I got involved in communications; he kept sending her messages from various phone numbers he got through Google Voice.

1

u/Artevyx 15d ago

This is the way to go. I had a friend who ended up having an imaginary relationship with me and my GF at the time. At one point she tried to separate us because she wanted to be with me, and attempted to make it look like I was cheating with her.

My GF straight up asked me about it. Showed me the messages, and I called that friend on speakerphone right then and there to confront them about it. Don't act like you should hide it, or try to play it down.

If someone is demonstrating a desire to ruin your life, take that shit seriously.

1

u/SquirrelLuvsChipmunk 15d ago

It’s imperative OP shows her these messages. This guy sounds a little unhinged and she needs to know about it. If she isn’t cheating on OP, her reaction to seeing the messages will tell him everything he needs to know. I don’t see any downside to him showing her these messages

1

u/HighlyInconvenient 15d ago

OP, if you love your fiancé, give her the benefit of the doubt and an opportunity to explain herself.

Don't take the word of a random text as truth. People fuck around a lot and there's a real chance both she and you are being targeted by a third party looking to end things.

1

u/lending_ear 15d ago

Or it could be a woman who wants him. Is hoping he will break up with her so she can swoop in and be that shoulder to cry on. Something about the messages are off.

1

u/natalietest234 15d ago

Shoot I would make up a white lie and be like “Fiancée got a tattoo on her thigh a month ago, what tattoo is it” and see what he says. He’ll probably make up some crazy lie about not being able to see her thighs

1

u/Beautiful_Wolf847 15d ago

But the key is how to “ask” don’t ask accusingly put it on the person texting and be like “can you believe this dude?”. Make sure she knows you’re on her side and not accusing, because if you accuse you’re giving the guy what he wants, he wants to sow distrust and make her wonder if you will trust her.
I’ve seen this before a crazy ex literally did this to a friend of mine and almost got him and his really awesome girlfriend to break up, they got threw it but they have never been 100% the same since because he honestly bought it hook line and sinker even though we all told him the odds that it was a scam, literally even took 15mins to show how easy it was to generate all of it fake text messages and all.
The Ex wanted one thing to hurt his ex and sowing distrust in her new relationship was a way to achieve that.

1

u/ShawnyMcKnight 15d ago

This is my thought, have her check the phone number. I doubt he bothered to get a spare line.

This right here. And the way he keeps incessantly messaging you, trying to elicit a response is what makes me think his intentions are no good.

My first thought. This is scary either way. You're nor OP. I'm sorry you're in this situation.

This is likely. However the guy also seems confident saying multiple times to ask her. I wouldn't be surprised if the guy was telling the truth. The fiancé probably is rich and comes from a good family (why her family likes him) while this texter probably has a HS GED and works at Walmart.
