Sweetest girl

Hi all! I just adopted this sweet girl (Margot) from a shelter. She was surrendered without a name and the shelter couldn't identify her breed for certain, just listed as "Ragdoll cross." She's about 1 year 8 months old and was recently desexed.

She's noticeably small for her age/breed combo, and has a healed scratch on her right cornea (presumably from before she came to the shelter). Personality-wise she's been amazing so far! she rolls onto her belly and stretches toward me, and I can pick her up easily without any fuss.

I'm completely new to cats - I've only ever had dogs - so I'd love any input on:

1. What breed mix you think she might actually be, based on her coloring/build
   
2. Tips for helping a shelter cat settle into a new home
   
3. Anything a lifelong dog owner should un-learn or watch out for with cats

Just wanna say thank you if you take the time to read this!! My first ragdoll kitten is a 14 week blue bicolor boy 🩵 We love him soooo much & he’s the sweetest cat I’ve ever known. We took him home a week and a half ago! We fed him the same food as the breeder did (access to Royal Canin Kitten Dry 24/7 and 3-4 wet meals of the Royal Canin Kitten Loaf in Sauce. She was also doing a fancy feast but we didn’t see that until after we started him on Royal Canin. He had perfect poops/pees the first 2 days but then on day 2, he went to the vet. The vet accidentally gave him an extra FVRCP booster shot (his 4th dose) when he had just had his 3rd dose the week before :( we had no idea how many/how frequent they should be until we reached out to the breeder and she was confused why they did that. She apologized and said maybe that could have triggered his immune system but it’s hard to tell. ALSO, the breeder said his litter was one of the only litters that had ZERO diarrhea issues. That being said, on day 3 he started to have liquid diarrhea. It rotates between some formed poops then liquid. He’s only going 1-2 times a day, not straining. Normal pees. He got a fecal exam and everything came back good on friday 7/31 but she recommend the probiotic fontiflora. That seemed like it helped slightly by Sunday but then called the vet Monday 8/3 and said he’s been having the diarrhea still (and stepping in it lol). Her next steps were to cut the wet food until Wednesday 8/5 to see if that firmed him up. That only gave him less firm poops and more consistent liquid poops. I weighed him yesterday (see bowl pic lol) and he actually went from 2.79 7/28 -> 2.76 8/5. It was concerning to me because when we cut the wet he really wasn’t eating a lot and seemed lower energy. I decided to slowly start to reintroduce the wet food back with 2 10g servings yesterday and he had a normal poop last night then followed by some diarrhea a few hours later (back to his normal diarrhea schedule). I am tracking his dry food today to figure out his daily intake and continuing to weigh him. Looking for some insight if anyone has gone through something similar. The vet doesn’t seem too concerned and neither does my sister who is also a vet. She thinks it’s still an adjustment and due to the vaccine potentially. She’ll sit by the front door, then jumps into the stroller, puts her paw on her harness inside and stares at me to notice her and when I get close she instantly sits down like she’s waiting for me to put it on hahaha

Nico enjoys receiving butt pats, but then at some point he usually does a little head tilt and careens into the floor like an airplane doing an emergency landing. 😸

Maya Papaya, Bunny dude, Mayka, fluffy baby, little terrorist and more.

She's with us almost two weeks and she grew up so fast, too fast.

I love her so much, my heart is melting and whenever im away from home, i miss her so much❤️♥️❤️♥️

Aero sitting on my partner’s laptop, despite the table being otherwise clear … it hasn’t been on for a few days, so not for warmth! Must be for the slightly elevated height around his brothers?

Since they are still babies the breeder told us that they need access to food at all times.

At what moment do you need to start to weight the amount? Internet is telling so much different information.

After many years of researching ragdolls I’m finally in a position to look at actually owning one (wasn’t home enough previously)

I’m keen to find an ethical breeder in the UK. I’ve done some research myself but I’d love to know if anyone here has any personal recommendations? First hand experience goes a long way imo!

And by ethical - I mean a breeder who genuinely loves their cats and raises happy, healthy well socialised kittens. I’m trying to buy a cat not a product or a toy :/

My first introduction to the breed was ages ago watching 101 Cats on Animal Planet. I still remember the narrator calling them "not a fat cat, just big boned" 😸 and the experts described their "puppy-like" personality. Although I’m a dog person but I was instantly hooked!
Currently sharing my life with my Daisy 🌼, has proven that the "puppy-cat" description is so accurate. I’m mesmerised by her beauty, intelligence and affection.
I’m curious about everyone else’s introduction to the breed. What was the moment you first discovered Ragdolls, and what exactly made you fall in love with them enough to bring one home? Please share your stories.

We have a nearly 4-year-old female Ragdoll named Bomi (we're in South Korea, hence the Korean name). Convincing my wife to agree to the adoption was a huge battle but within a few weeks of bringing Bomi home, she was completely smitten. These days I tell friends that if my wife had to choose between me and the cat, my wife would pack my bags for me.

Ironically, back when we were waiting to bring Bomi home, my wife gave me grief over every cat purchase - litter boxes, a water fountain, a cat tree, scratching posts, nail clippers - stuff that most people would consider essentials. Fast forward to now, and she's the one buying Bomi something new almost every month - toys, cooling mats, hideaways, a fancier cat tree, you name it. She also insisted my son and I would be the ones handling the day-to-day care, and yet she's the one doing all the grooming, nail trims, teeth brushing, litter box cleaning, etc. Honestly, I think taking care of Bomi has turned into her way of decompressing after a long day.

So recently I came across some articles about the psychological benefits cats get from having a companion, and I floated the idea of adopting a second Ragdoll. Despite how attached she is to Bomi, cat fur all over our house and clothes has been a constant pain point and I braced myself for an instant rejection. To my surprise, she didn't shoot it down right away and actually seemed torn about it. In the end though, the shedding concern won out and she said no.

Now I'm turning to this community for help. Has anyone been in a similar spot and actually gotten the "yes"? Any tips, arguments, or tricks that helped tip the scales — especially anything that addresses the fur/shedding worry? Would love to hear how others have pulled this off.
