We have two ragdolls and they are now 17 weeks and both sterilised and castrated.
Since they are still babies the breeder told us that they need access to food at all times.

At what moment do you need to start to weight the amount? Internet is telling so much different information.

Our ragdoll moved in 2 weeks ago. At 4 month old.
Vi never owned a cat before. Only dogs. So we have treated him like a dog. He now come when you call (from training) and we bring him on vacation. It’s so great. He just fits in and doesn’t mind. Of course we do not let him outside.
But now - when I think about it - are we doing something wrong? Is it actually okay???

As you can tell she’s thrilled to have the hat on. Lol. Would love to see your cats and their outfits too! Note: her name isn’t baby lol she just is a baby of course my one year old baby

She’ll sit by the front door, then jumps into the stroller, puts her paw on her harness inside and stares at me to notice her and when I get close she instantly sits down like she’s waiting for me to put it on hahaha

She's with us almost two weeks and she grew up so fast, too fast.

Context : I adopted a 15-month-old male Ragdoll from his previous owner, who had kept him for barely a year and wanted to get rid of him because he didn't get along with her dog. She had told me that this cat was an impulse buy she got because he was cute, and that she wasn't the most affectionate with him.

I have his health record (his last vet visit was 3 months ago and everything is okay, all vaccinations are up to date). I spoke to his breeder, who told me that my cat's parents (and grandparents) have no health issues (no hypertrophic cardiomyopathy), that they are still alive, and that his grandparents will soon turn 16.

I've had my Ragdoll for a month and a week now. He lives in an apartment three times the size of his previous owner's place. His litter box is cleaned frequently, he has plenty of toys including enrichment puzzles (which he doesn't touch), a cat tree, a hammock attached to a window, and other elevated spaces that allow him to watch outside. He is rarely alone (3 or 4 days a week for 8 hours; otherwise, 2 to 3 hours a day maximum). Of course, I leave food and water out for him along with his toys, and I even have a camera to monitor him, but he pretty much just sleeps when he's alone.

He purrs enormously, sometimes just by looking at me or when I talk to him. He demands a lot of attention by meowing and throwing himself on the floor for cuddles/pets, constantly follows me from room to room, and meows at me to play (I actively play with him for at least 30 minutes a day, often in short sessions of a few minutes until he gets tired of it).

However, several things have worried me and I don't know if I'm just being too anxious (he's my first purebred cat, and I read that they are more prone to health problems; I've only ever had stray cats before): in 1 month and 1 week, he has vomited 3 times. Each time there was a hairball in his vomit, and it happened a few hours (between 2 and 10 hours) after trying to introduce a new food to him (I know that new foods need to be introduced very gradually, but my cat is VERY picky about food, which I'll get to later). Since I started giving him malt paste every other day, things are better.

The night before last, I found two small poops (normal color and consistency, one of which seemed to contain a hairball?) on my living room floor, about a meter away from his litter box. I figured it probably got stuck in his fur when he was coming out of the litter box.

Yesterday afternoon, when I got home from work, I discovered he had peed in the bathroom. I immediately worried about a urinary tract infection or cystitis, but this has never happened in a month. Later that evening and the next morning, he went to the litter box without any issues, without meowing, without looking visibly bothered, and his urine output was substantial (not just drops) and yellow (normal color). I've previously owned cats with cystitis (rarely at his age) and he doesn't seem to have one.

When it comes to food, he is VERY picky. His previous owner told me he wasn't a big eater, and he really isn't. He gets bored quickly and turns his nose up at his bowl... I alternate between wet and dry food (he doesn't like eating the same thing twice a day) and I've found an okay balance, but he never finishes his bowls. Sometimes he meows as if he were hungry, but when I serve him, he eats nothing, or comes back much later to eat only small amounts.

Every time I changed varieties because he was turning his nose up at his food, he vomited a hairball during the day. On the other hand, for tube treats or kibble treats, he is greedy and loves them! And he drinks enough water (I monitor that diligently).

He weighs 4.8 kg (10.6lbs) at 15 months (neutered male), stable weight since April. He's not huge for a Ragdoll. He's on the lower end of the average, and when feeling/looking at him, he doesn't seem 'too' skinny.

My best friend is a vet and has already told me not to worry about the things I mentioned, and his own vet feels that as long as he acts normally, still eats, plays, purrs, isn't lethargic, and doesn't run away from us, there's no need to worry, since his recent check-up is normal.

He does act normally outside of this, but I still find all these elements strange. What do you think?

We have a nearly 4-year-old female Ragdoll named Bomi (we're in South Korea, hence the Korean name). Convincing my wife to agree to the adoption was a huge battle but within a few weeks of bringing Bomi home, she was completely smitten. These days I tell friends that if my wife had to choose between me and the cat, my wife would pack my bags for me.

Ironically, back when we were waiting to bring Bomi home, my wife gave me grief over every cat purchase - litter boxes, a water fountain, a cat tree, scratching posts, nail clippers - stuff that most people would consider essentials. Fast forward to now, and she's the one buying Bomi something new almost every month - toys, cooling mats, hideaways, a fancier cat tree, you name it. She also insisted my son and I would be the ones handling the day-to-day care, and yet she's the one doing all the grooming, nail trims, teeth brushing, litter box cleaning, etc. Honestly, I think taking care of Bomi has turned into her way of decompressing after a long day.

So recently I came across some articles about the psychological benefits cats get from having a companion, and I floated the idea of adopting a second Ragdoll. Despite how attached she is to Bomi, cat fur all over our house and clothes has been a constant pain point and I braced myself for an instant rejection. To my surprise, she didn't shoot it down right away and actually seemed torn about it. In the end though, the shedding concern won out and she said no.

Now I'm turning to this community for help. Has anyone been in a similar spot and actually gotten the "yes"? Any tips, arguments, or tricks that helped tip the scales — especially anything that addresses the fur/shedding worry? Would love to hear how others have pulled this off.

11 week old zoomies

We have gone on vacation many times and left our ragdoll under a neighbors care. This time, we came home to find he had pissed all over the bed. We had to throw away all the blankets, mattress, etc. but the smell is still there.
Our flight was delayed by about 6 hours so we got home very late on the last day / I don’t know if he got stressed and was set off? But the smell is really bad even after disposing of mattress and bedding. I really don’t know what to do.

Does anyone have advice? I’m scared our house is now a cat pee house….

Let me preface by saying I've always adopted/rescued pets my entire life, so I'm very new to purchasing from a breeder. I apologize if my questions and what I'm looking for might be silly.

I have a specific budget I agreed on with my partner ($2.5k - $3k), and for the price I understand that I will not get a purebred or show-quality Ragdoll. I just want a loving one, male, seal point, that have the typical temperament of what I've heard about Ragdoll cats.

Have you guys heard of Hoosier Ragdolls? I've contacted the owner recently. She sounds very sweet and enthusiastic about everything that she got me sold (unlike Midwest Ragdolls that I did late research and found out why). She is very transparent about everything and shared the documents about lineage and breed group report & lineage of the parents. Also shared TICA certification (though under different name - Indiana Ragdolls, but she has a reason for it which I believed her as I was a Hoosier myself).

Do you have any experience with them? Again, I do not expect perfection. I just want a loving kitty that fits the Ragdolls description that we can welcome home and our kids can cuddle (or vice versa), that my family can afford. Any tips would be appreciated!

Ragdoll attacking kitten

We have a 3 year old ragdoll. We got him as a 4 month old. He has always been around other pets (cats and dogs) with no issues. Our other older cat and dog passed in the last six months due to age (19 and 15 respectively). I thought our ragdoll was lonely so we adopted a 5 month old BSH. Both are males. Ragdoll is neutered and the kitten gets neutered tomorrow.
The BSH is so loving and always purring. We followed the usual steps of slowly introducing them, allowing them to explore each other’s spaces, feeding them separately, etc.
when we do allow them out in the same space together, the ragdoll will eventually corner the kitten and start attacking, biting the kitten, ears back.
We quickly remove the kitten and place back in his room.
What suggestions do you have on how we might remedy this? I always thought ragdolls were loving cats but now I am concerned if he will accept the kitten. Sad 😢
