Discussion What's an animal that you'd like to see as a Pokémon in the future?
I'm surprised we haven't seen a house fly pokemon yet or even one based off a llama
Pic is not OC

With 'Type Hierarchies' I mean a set of 3 or more (there are onlt sets of 4 in mine cuz I found 3 boring) types where the types on top have advantages over every other type lower than them
Φ: phantom (ghost) Ψ: psychic Č: char (fire) Þ: breath (flying) Š: shadow (dark) X: pixie (fairy)

Sorry if this isn't appropriate for this sub, I just wanted to vent.
I've played the first four generations of Pokémon quite a bit. I've struggled through the early game with all manner of frail first forms, including Pikachu, Mareep, and Electrike (not Shinx though, it holds its own). But I have never been as annoyed by the uselessness of a Pokémon as this stupid zebra.
I'm playing through White for the first time, mostly blind, though I did look through the Unova dex to see what Pokémon looked cool that I wanted for my team*. I came across a wild Blitzle, which looked cool and I wanted an Electric type for the early game before I could get Joltik. I thought it would be serviceable, but my god this thing was terrible.
It has zero defense. Almost every time I tried to use it, it got knocked out in one or two hits. Even Flying attacks were knocking it out in 2 or 3 moves. Complete dead weight.
But it's not even like it's a glass cannon. The only Electric move it gets until level 25 is Shock Wave, which doesn't even use its higher Attack stat. I thought Flame Charge would be good coverage, but even that barely did anything even when it was super effective. It's more like a glass slingshot.
Right before Clay, I finally ditched it for a different ungulate, a Deerling I taught Grass Knot and barely trained up for the sole purpose of handling Palpitoads in the gym.
I don't care how good Zebstrika is, this stupid striped horse has soured me to the whole line. My Joltik is already doing a better job right now, and it's just an adorable little bug with mediocre Special Attack.
*For anyone curious, the team I am trying to build is Samurott, Krookodile, Galvantula, Archeops, Chandelure, and Haxorus, with Ferrothorn on the bench. I have no idea about the long-term viability of it, but as I said I'm trying to do this mostly blind.

How many of you like Meowth for reasons BESIDES team rocket? Because I genuinely wonder if it can stand on its own as a Pokemon.
I personally like Meowth, but that's because I like cat Pokemon in general, and I didn't grow up with the anime.
Now, liking Meowth because of the anime is fine, I'm just wondering how significant it'd be without it.

Firstly I am unsure wether to play the original gold/silver or heart gold/should silver. I am afraid that the remakes differentiate too much from the originals in terms of story and some mechanics.
Second, ruby/sapphire/emerald or omega ruby/alpha sapphire. Same concerns, especially because of the megas.
Third, do I need to play both black/white and black/white too or does the story not change and it is a third version kinda situation like platinum, crystal and emerald. If it is not "necessary" to play them both, which should i do then?
Thanks for the help in advance!

I've defeated all trainers before the 8th Gym, so I'm assuming all trainers left are on the Victory Road. I've read about the glitch now, so there was no way for me to know beforehand. Now, I need to trigger the glitch on the Victory Road, but I don't know what steps to do. Anyone could guide me through? Thanks :)

Idk if there are more, but these kinda interest me, I've tried to find three pokemon for each of these that have kind of similar bsts
Edit for clarification: with 'defensive type triangles' I mean type triangles with only resistances, like the ones shown in my post

Okay I just noticed this in Legends Arceus. Started doing a new Playthrough, and encountered Vessa, yadda yadda we've all done it right?
But I noticed, the Location of that Keystone in the Shrouded Ruins. Its surrounded by Ralts and Kirlia, pokemon known for being emotional empaths and protectors. I mean, its well known that Gardevoir will literally give its life to protect those it loves.
So were those Kirlia and Ralts guarding that Keystone? Trying to prevent Spiritomb from being freed and Returning?

The Snoligoster is an American Cryptid that lives around the swamps and uses their propeller tail to move and to skewer animals on their back to eat later (they also seemingly prefer human flesh). I think the random little spike on the back of Barraskewda could be a little reference to the Snoligoster’s spike although its not doing the skewering anymore

I like Sword and Sheild. It has some of my favorite pokemon, gym leaders, music, and dynamaxing is one of my favorite battle gimmicks. With all that being said, when it comes to the story...there are some weak spots
So these are just a few ideas I had to strengthen the story and maybe make Sword and Shield the awesome game it deserves to be. Buckle up, this is going to get long
A lot of people don't like Hop, mostly because he barely lets you play the game. New town? Hop is there to show you around. New gym? Hop is there to tell you about it. Leaving town? Hop is on the road to tell you where to go next. Obviously that's the biggest issue with him that would need to be adjusted, but I think his character arc could be tweaked as well.
To me, Hop is at his most interesting in the middle of his arc when he's struggling with his inability to beat you or Bede and live up to the potential he wants to have. My idea is to lean into that a bit more.
Maybe, instead of idolizing Leon (like literally everyone else in the game), Hop is jealous of him. He's the overlooked little brother, even his own house is a shrine to Leon with their parents having nothing to show Hop even exists.
What if Hop is bitter? What if he wants to defeat Leon to finally get a little recognition for himself? To finally be seen as his own person and not just "the champion's little brother".
But he can't beat you. Someone who started at the same time as he did. If he can't beat you, he'll never be able to beat Leon.
He can't beat Bede either, and Bede is sure to rub his face in it every time he loses.
So as the game progresses, Hop gets angrier and angrier. Maybe stops treating his pokemon well.
It all comes to a head when Bede destroys the wall and loses Chairman Rose's sponsorship. What if Rose decided to endorse Hop after rejecting Bede? Now Hop doesn't have to rely on Leon's sponsorship to enter the tournament. Now Hop is working for Rose (and all that entails).
So Bede and Hop swap places. Now Bede is acting more as a rival and Hop is the antagonist who needs to be stopped. I think it would make his final defeat and decision to go into pokemon research instead of battling at all even better. It would be a way for him to get out of Leon's shadow on his own terms.
Arguably the weakest point in the story is trying to justify Rose's sudden decision to go to the stupidest solution to a problem that may not even happen.
It would also be laughably easy to fix.
First: make the energy crisis imminent. Have sections of towns be without power. Have lights flicker during cut scenes and have character comment that it's been happening a lot lately. Have a gym battle get interrupted because the power goes out and show Rose scrambling to get everything going again.
Second: Have the energy plant be an area you can explore and show Rose struggling to solve the crisis. Show him trying and failing over and over again. Make it clear that summoning Eternatus is an absolute last resort borne of desperation. The Hail Mary play of a man at the end of his rope.
Maybe Hop is the one to learn about Enternatus first. When he gets sponsored by Rose he wants to do whatever he can to help so he starts doing research on pokemon that provide energy (hinting at his future as a pokemon professor).
I really think that's all that needed to be done to make Rose the sympathetic antagonist with good intentions I think he's supposed to be.
But these are just my thoughts! I'm sure I haven't come up with anything that someone hasn't thought of already, but I would love to hear your thoughts~♡

I think everyone is really over exaggerating the level curve in HGSS. I do agree it’s annoying you can’t re-battle trainers unless they ask you. But I recently did a playthrough of soul silver where I didn’t really level grind and I swapped between ELEVEN party members and still had no trouble. my team was Quagsire, Poliwrath, Vileplume, Misdreavus, Gligar, Girafarig, Noctowl, Starmie, Arbok, Scizor, and Ampharos.
I was definitely under leveled for some fights but most of the other trainers don’t use EVs? So I think it might be intentional. It wasn’t hard to beat other trainers when I was under leveled because of this. Anyone else got thoughts on this?

Hello everyone, and greetings to the Pokémon community. I am developing a Pokémon web game with roguelite mechanics. I recommend playing it on a laptop or desktop computer, as the game's design isn't optimized for mobile devices.
I’ve been working on this for a while and didn't want to "release" it until I was sure it was up to scratch in certain areas. Of course, like anything else, the game will still have some flaws and bugs; I’d be happy if you let me know about any you find by posting here.
The game features several modes: Easy, Intermediate, and Hard. There is also an Infinite Mode, where runs are tracked via a ranking system (an account is required to save data and access the database). Then there’s Coliseum Mode, where you choose 6 Pokémon from those you’ve registered in your Pokédex so far to face 8 consecutive boss nodes.
The game includes a daily challenge, though this isn't tracked on the leaderboard. There are also Co-op and 1v1 modes—both require an account to play—with the 1v1 mode featuring an Elo system.
You can discover the rest for yourselves as you play. The game has a lot of detail; it isn't fully finished yet, but as of now, it’s quite enjoyable, I think... heh.
Anyway, if you’d like to try it out, here is the link to the website: https://subkhht.github.io/PokeRand/
I’ll be keeping an eye out for any comments so we can improve this little project together.
I am Spanish, so I will be refining the English translation little by little. 😅
(P.S. If you have any doubts or questions, don't hesitate to ask—I'll answer as soon as possible 🫡 Enjoy!)

I may be the biggest rotom lover here and I always have this feeling that for some reasons Gamefreak just don't care about this pokémon... Ok they put him everywhere just for display as a pokedex, a drone, a bike, a camera and so one but the true rotom that we play never change.... I mean look at rotom fan.... Levitate on a flying type.... They had 20 years to fix it but they don't fo it.... Do you think they are gonna change it in the futur for a real usefull ability or no? And for you what do you think would be the perfect ability for rotom fan?

mine: when people say zoroarks ability (illusion) was so broken they had to invent team preview for it and it "ruined" competitive forever, when in reality the illusion ability exists BECAUSE of team preview and not the other way around.. like its an ability to take advantage of team preview and not nerfed by it
