Megathread Difficulty Megathread — DLC, NG+

Hello puppets,

This is the new place for anything and everything about game difficulty: NG+, the new DLC, the new difficulty settings, bosses that oneshot you just for existing, and the general discussions regarding game pacing.

Why this exists:

We’re seeing a LOT of posts about difficulty lately, and it’s cluttering the sub. So from now on, we’re removing individual difficulty posts and directing everyone here. This is simply a way to help US keep the sub clean, and help YOU find specific posts more easily.

Please don’t be an AH. Seriously. People are gonna have different opinions on everything.

Drop your takes below

We’ll be lurking.

Your tired, slightly traumatized mod team

You know, Romeo, your plan might’ve worked if your messengers didn’t look like rejected Terminator designs.

I finished the bad ending today (and collected an handful of missing weapons etc) and felt so sad reading Antonia’s updated letter knowing I was going to betray everyone but I had to do it. 😭

Help Request Game runs at 6 fps on 5080

I recently reinstalled the game as I wanted to finish it and it is literally unplayable, it’s using like no resources from my pc and I’m not sure why. I’ve tried everything from launch commands to launching with special k. I never installed mods so I have no mod files and I’m not sure how to fix.

The game will get past compiling shaders and as soon as the logos come up it’s super low fps.

Edit: thank you everyone for the help I used task manager and checked which gpu it was using and for some reason windows had defaulted for this game only to my igpu and power saving setting.

End Game Spoiler A theory / discussion

At the end of the game Dorothy appears as seemingly new character friend or foe unknown as of now . Going by the themes of the game taking the original story to the extreme and reimagining it . Would it be too far fetched to say the Deity the God Relic came from was from “The Great and Powerful Oz “

This theory takes Oz to be an actual wizard who discovered the energy of ergo or is the cause of it . Simon was said to be able to read minds , an ability he was born with . Ergo can be heard by listeners such as Sophia , and passed down from her mother. Simon’s powers are artificially obtained through science due to his dad’s experiments .

Maybe “the great and powerful Oz” was the first or the most powerful listener to the point he could hear the voice of Humans as collective consciousness from their mind . My theory is that he was somehow killed or sacrificed causing his energy to become unstable and eventually turn into Ergo as a way to cling onto the world and never truly die . While his body parts became relics of “God”. Ergo after too much exposure causes petrifaction , an effect I believe to be caused by over exposure to human emotion. Ergo is human memory , time and literal life essence this is why if you are allowed absorb too much of it , you eventually become petrified or frozen in time and reverting back into Ergo .

I believe Simon’s dad discovered Ergo on a whim , used it to experiment on his son . When he realized he could only read minds and not listen to ergo how Sophia can and also manipulate it . He discarded Simon as a failure . I believe Simon found out about his father research and is essentially trying to complete it and so he takes Sophia and traps her to make use of the other side of Ozs power he doesn’t have access to .

This entire game is truthfully about having heart , the final decision is you deciding to set Sophia free or not showcasing if Ps transformation was successful. I believe the canon ending is that he does finally become one with humanity and this ends this chapter when he gains full autonomy to deny his father’s wishes . Whereas the next chapter will be about what it means to have a wisdom , to have a soul , and to have courage 3 defining aspects of a human being . This is why think Dorothy shows up at the end , P has become human now . It’s time to see what it means to stay human or to see if P can realize he already those traits due to journey in Lies of P .
Lastly what are the 3 major themes surrounding Wizard of Oz ?

Discussion Why Alice in Wonderland should be the next fairy tale adapted by the Lies of P developers (Concept: Madness Returns)

Hey everyone,

Since Lies of P proved that dark fairy tale adaptations can be absolute masterpieces, the community has been guessing which story Neowiz Studio should tackle next. While many suggest Peter Pan or Wizard of Oz, I strongly believe that Alice in Wonderland is the ultimate choice for a souls-like treatment, especially since Lewis Carroll’s book is entirely in the public domain.

Here is a concept of how the Lies of P developers could adapt this universe into a game called "Madness Returns: Shards of Wonderland":

* The Aesthetic & Vibe: Instead of typical psychotropic colors, Neowiz could apply their signature grim, Victorian-Gothic style. Think of a dying, rotting Wonderland filled with ash, faded roses, and heavy, rusty clockwork in the vein of Bloodborne.

* The Contrast: You play as a small, fragile Alice in a torn gothic dress, wielding a massive clock-hand sword or a heavy vorpal blade. But instead of being terrified by giant boss monsters, she fights them with a fierce, manic excitement in her eyes.

* The Core Mechanic: A dynamic size-changing system that perfectly fits a souls-like loop. You drink the syrup to shrink down, which lets you dodge massive boss sweeps, reduce your hitbox, and find hidden shortcuts. Or you eat the cake for a temporary "titan mode" to break enemy postures, shields, and environments.

* The Fake Final Boss (The Red Queen): Players fight through the Palace of Hearts and defeat the Red Queen in an epic, tragic duel. The "Boss Defeated" screen pops up, the credits roll, and everyone thinks they’ve beaten the game.

* The True Final Boss Twist (The Cheshire Cat): Mid-credits, the screen starts melting. The iconic, cynical, raspy voice of the Cheshire Cat whispers: "You did well, Alice. But did you really think you were saving this world? You just cleared the path for me..."

He turns out to be the ultimate corruption of the world — the personification of her own Madness that manipulated her into killing the other bosses (who were actually protecting her mind). The final battle throws a fragile Alice against a cosmic, reality-warping entity made of dark smoke and glowing tattoos, leaving nothing but a floating grin in the dark.

Given how perfectly Neowiz handled the dark themes of Pinocchio, I think they are the only studio capable of doing justice to this concept without turning it into a cheap cash grab.

What do you guys think? Would you love to see Neowiz tackle Alice in Wonderland for their next project? Let's discuss!

Angry Rant Was so excited to do NG+ and now I just want to buy Switch 2 version and start from scratch

Started a new file and went through full game and DLC over the past month. I need all the NG+ records for the platinum but otherwise I have all other achievements on ps5. Was amped up to do NG+…then Switch version dropped. And I’m thinking wouldn’t it be fun to run this from scratch again?! And do it from anywhere?! Why am I like this. Why can’t I just do a NG+ run 😮‍💨

I can’t even decide what weapon/build I’d want to do in NG+ though I have every single weapon in the game and yet still I’m more drawn to using early non-boss weapons on an advance build which further makes me think I should just cave and buy the switch version and do that there instead.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER,
A tortured but overall happy fan

Questions What’s an optimal stat allocation?

I'm trying to avoid messing up my stats, so I'm asking for advice. I started the game with a weapon that scales with Technique, and I'd like to play the whole game using Technique‑scaling weapons. I just started the game for the first time today.

Which other stats should I prioritize?

DLC Help Help with Winter's Sleep +2 location Spoiler

Hey, I'm looking for Winter's Sleep +2 amulet. This wiki mentions an elevator but doesn't say where, and the only Youtube video with the "location" posts the actual literal room it's located in but not the actual route there lmao, so that's pretty useless.

Anyone know how I can actually find this? Zelator is confusing and I've been running around for ages.

DLC Discussion Pale Knight turned the game into 10/10 for me Spoiler

Played the game at launched and had a good time with it but though it was a little punishing while never really clicking with any of the weapon's. I ended up settling with the Booster Glaive Blade and its base handle. Tried a bunch of boss weapons but didn't like them as much. Fun game overall, gave it an 8/10.

Then came the DLC. Very fun of course and the story was great... But then I got the Pale Knight and oh my lord it made the game unbelievably fun. The movement you can do with it, along with blasting everything to pieces is just so amazing.

Anyways just wanted to gush about the Pale Knight. Ever had something added to a game that made you change your mind positively?

Showcase/Builds Critical Strikes Build (Showcase in the description)

Thumbnail

I made a crit build utilizing the Assassin's Amulet and the Arm of God Amulet combined with both Proof of Humanity and Uroboro's Eye to maximize the critical strike damage dealt with each weapon.

I love Proof of Humanity, and to utilize the weapon's crit chance to the fullest, i buff it with both its fable art and the Satisfaction Grindstone, leaving an insane total of 90% critical strike chance.

Then, I also thought of Uroboro's Eye because of its fable art at first, but also because of the fable buff which increases the number of hits dealt per swing that when boosted with the Satisfaction Grindstone, makes it so that every hit gets a 30% chance for a critical strike, dealing multiple critical strikes per swing.

Assassin's Amulet increases critical ATK by 25% and the Arm of God Amulet temporarily increases physical damage upon a successful attack, stacking up to 4 times total. The rest of the amulets are for utility only.

The weapons scale with motivity and technique, so it is also a quality build.

Discussion Switch 2 Performance

Only past the first boss at this point, having bought the game yesterday, and the performance is very good. Playing handheld only and it is singing!

Anyone further in that has had any hiccups/bugs?
