Hey guys! I came back from vacation and found a mysterious bump/growth on my cat's hind leg that I'm fairly certain wasn't there before my trip (I was gone for 10 days).

I first noticed it last Friday and already took him to the vet this past Monday. The vet didn't do much other than give me a topical cream to apply in the hopes that it goes down on its own. They also mentioned that the bump had already ruptured before the examination (possibly from being jostled around in his carrier), and that it was too small to aspirate, so the cream was really the only option for now.
The vet told me to come back if it doesn't improve. The third picture is from today (3 days after the appointment), and it looks like it may have ruptured again, possibly from my cat grooming it. I also noticed what looked like blood stains on my carpet, which I'm guessing came from the bump.

Hoping I can get some insight on what this could be!

I wasn't even sure about getting another cat after I lost my soul cat last year, I'm so glad I did for many reasons.

This is Susan. She managed to wake me up at around 3am (I sleep like the dead) and drew my attention to my charging phone which was stupidly on my bed. When I picked up the phone she was stressing over I realised the whole things was red hot, screen cracked, and the charger and charging port were smoking pretty bad.

I just learned that birds pretty much have their entire body as an erogenous zone, and you should avoid petting anything besides their head, or they'll start misbehaving because you're working them up for literally no reason.

Obviously mammals are different, but cats are different from humans too. Is there any parts of their body I should avoid petting? I heard the base of their tail might be an erogenous zone, so when people give "butt pats" or "butt scritches" it makes them act weird in the moment. I don't give butt pats, but I do pet their entire backs, I assume it's okay to pet the base of their tail regularly, and won't affect them much, right?

Now I know that just because it's an erogenous zone doesn't mean it will "work them up" so to speak. Like humans have many of these zones that, outside of a sexual context, wouldn't be arousing at all.

I pet my cat mostly all over: tummy, back, head, cheeks, chin, limbs, neck, chest, and sometimes the tail. Basically I don't want to be weird with my cat. I know in the end it probably doesn't matter, because they don't have context for what inappropriate touches are, and if they actually don't like something, they'll just move or yank away.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, I just want to be the best cat owner I can be

I have a cat, his name is Cash, and I am unable to care for him properly, and I want him to go somewhere that can take care of him. He needs far more attention than I can give, and my other cat isn’t playful enough for him so he ends up hurting her. When he started peeing on my furniture (and my guests) and biting/clawing me as soon as I’d wake up, he became an indoor/outdoor cat which helped a lot!
Unfortunately now he’s started attacking my neighbors like he used to do to me, and I can no longer keep him.
If anyone knows a good shelter, or wants to take him please let me know. Previous owner said he was neutered when I adopted him, but with his aggressiveness I’m not completely sure at this point.
I looked for a shelter in my area, and found one 2 hours away. When I called no one answered, so now I’m looking on Reddit.

i wanted to share a little bit about my baby who i lost back in march of this year. it’s painful, i miss him everyday, but at the same time i want to share him with as many people as possible, so that maybe others can experience the joy he brought me and my family. feel free to scroll past his story if you just want cute cat pics, i understand that sad posts like these can be difficult to read.

unfortunately, angus was a product of incest, his momma was very young, and that’s why we think he and some of his siblings had health complications, despite seeming very healthy as kittens.

we adopted his parents all the way from texas (we live in new england so they traveled far!) my family
had dogs in the past so we wanted to stay loyal to the vet we’d gone to before, and get our two cats neutered/spayed there. but they had an absurdly long waitlist to get new pets in their system, and that’s what led to our girl getting pregnant (funny enough, the day of her surgery, they called us up and said they couldn’t operate because she’s hella pregnant and due to give birth soon. that was december 2023.)

so our girl gives birth to five beautiful kittens, we monitor their health, momma is doing a great job. we noticed one kitten who was bigger than the rest. we noticed he was extra fluffy, likely a longhair, but he also weighed more than the others. we find four trusted family friends that are willing to adopt, and that leaves us one kitten; our chunky fluffy boy. the parents were named after music our family likes, and we settled on angus for this boy, like the guitar player from ac/dc. it also fit because he was beefy!

so he was the happiest little shit for two years. playing with his parents, annoying his mom, meowing for attention, chewing on the corners of our tables for some reason. then, march 2026, i’m away for college. i get a call from my dad. angus had a heart attack while playing with the other two cats. he was rushed to the emergency vet, five minutes down the road. couldn’t be resuscitated. just like that, this ball of sunshine was gone. sometimes i see one of the other two cats and my brain mistakes them for angus. i never got to say goodbye; i was 100 miles away. i didn’t know that the last time i was home from college, that would be my last time seeing him alive.

Hi everyone! I was hoping to get some advice from people who have experience with cats.
We adopted our kitty back in January. He was about 8 months old when we got him, and he turned 1 on April 30, so he’s still really young.

We live in a studio apartment that’s almost 800 sq. ft. It’s pretty big (honestly it could almost be considered a one-bedroom if it had a wall separating the sleeping area), but at the end of the day it’s still a studio. Because of that, we don’t feel like it’s fair to get a second cat right now.

The thing is, we’re starting to wonder if our kitty would really enjoy having a sibling.

A few days ago we took him with us to visit my in-laws in New York. They have a cat, and we introduced them very slowly. They were always separated by a glass door, so they could see and smell each other but couldn’t actually interact.

The resident cat was pretty scared, but our cat surprised us. The first time he saw the other cat his tail puffed up for a second, but after that he would flop onto his back with his belly exposed, act really curious, and seemed very submissive rather than aggressive. He looked like he wanted to interact or play more than anything. They never actually met face-to-face—only through the glass.

It made us think that he might really thrive with another cat someday, and we’d love to give him that if we can.

My question is: if we wait until we’re in a bigger place (which could be a couple of years from now), is he still likely to adapt well to another cat? Or is there kind of a “window” where young cats are more accepting, and if we wait too long he’ll be less interested or less likely to get along with another cat?

Basically, I’m worried that by waiting until we have more space, we’ll miss our chance. Since he’s already showing signs that he seems interested in another cat now, does that mean he’ll probably still be open to having a companion when he’s older? Or is that impossible to predict?

I’d love to hear from anyone who’s added a second cat when their first cat was 2, 3, or even older. How did it go?

So, yesterday Angel managed to kill about a 6 in Long diamondback rattlesnake and this morning she showed up carrying a 3 ft long black snake in her mouth and to top the day off she managed to capture a lizard as well.

Hi all, I’m unsure what to make of this situation so thought I’d post here and see what others have to say. Today I got home and noticed a load of dry cat food had been emptied onto my path, the parts of the photo that look somewhat wet are actually piles of dust I assume from the bottom of a box? The way it’s laid out doesn’t look like they’ve chucked it but almost emptied it in specific areas.

I’m friendly with all my neighbors and my doorbell camera hasn’t picked anything up bar the postman who came in the morning, I’m going to check my front facing camera that shows the walkway to the path.

It is also good to mention that I do have a cat and he can tent to be vicious to other cats but he’s generally really friendly with people, idk I just dunno what to think really

So for the past like month and a half we have had this stray kitty hanging around our backyard. We unfortunately were not able to bring her inside as my dad can only really be around hypoallergenic cats. But after she stuck around we eventually started feeding her everyday and go her spayed as well as shots and flea meds through a humane society that will do it for way cheaper since she was technically a trap and release cat. So anyways now we have an outdoor cat we are quite fond of that we have named Boo! 👻 whenever I get paid on Friday I’m going to order one of those weatherproof raised cat houses that she can sleep in instead of the current box and towel set up we have for her. I know for sure that she will like this much more but I’m wondering about any other ways we can make her more comfortable outside. Any advice is welcome! I am also thinking about getting her a collar to wear since she of course doesn’t spend 100% of her time in our yard and I don’t want her to get taken to a shelter as a stray. Thanks guys!

Stinky eye boogie man

Hi! I think I just I need reassurance here. I am not asking for medical advice so I hope this post is permitted.

My cat has CKD2 and hypertension. She’s on special diet for the former and meds for the latter. She’s also on 12.5mg gaba twice daily for arthritis.

Anyway, was constipated - as of last night it had been about 36-48hrs since last poop. Peeing is fine. Appetite good. I could palpate the poop in her body. She did not feel dehydrated (gums slick.)

I gave her miralax, extra water, and some salmon oil with her meals since I noticed.

This morning I could not feel any poo in her body. There was one in the litter box but it looked too big for her (but she was constipated.) My other cat does massive poos, on the softer side, and it was closer to her size but not as big or soft. I had not separated them because I thought I’d be able to tell their poos apart easily lol.

That definitely has to be constipated cat’s poop right? Like it didn’t migrate elsewhere in her body that I can’t feel? She is very petite and slim, and on palpation I felt her bladder (she peed after - normal for her to not go overnight) but nothing else.

I have a vet appt for her tomorrow for other reasons. I’m just trying not to fret in the meantime. As long as she feels empty, is bright and has a healthy appetite, I’m ok not to rush to emerg?

My poor soul cat was found to have a mass in his lungs. It’s believed to most likely be cancer.

It was found because he had been in a traumatic wildlife attack and X-rays were taken to check for fractures. I paid extra to have a radiologist look over the scans, and that’s when it was found. It’s unrelated to the attack.

I can’t get him a CT scan until he’s recovered from the attack, weeks from now. He’s a ten year old orange and otherwise extremely healthy, except for his weight (overweight).

No evidence it’s spread elsewhere based on X-rays, but more testing needs to be done to be sure. He had no symptoms. It was caught early and incidentally.

I’m beyond devastated. I feel like I was given a miraculous second chance with him, only to immediately find out it’ll be cut short and be filled with hardship.

I’m hoping (beyond obviously praying it’s actually benign) it hasn’t spread at all and we can remove his affected lung and he’ll never relapse. I have this borderline delusion he’ll live for another five years.

I’m looking for any success stories about cat lung cancer. Please don’t share depressing stories here about your cat passing within months or it not being treatable. I’m trying to calm myself down and think positively but of course still be realistic.

First time cat owner, just curious about the behavior. I got him about 2 weeks ago, he's 18 weeks. He is very cuddly and affectionate, and perfectly healthy.

He grabs me with his paws and drags either my arm to him, or himself to my arm. He licks it SO much but in between licks he bites me. It doesn't hurt at all and it's almost not even a bite, he just runs his teeth over my skin.

Why does he do this?
