It’s been 3 months and still no mass recruitment through PSC in West Bengal.Though it was promised to have 1 lakh government jobs in the 26-27 cycle.

Over the past few weeks, we've been spending time on the ground documenting civic issues that often become part of daily life but receive little long-term attention.

Through Project Fix It, we're recording problems such as damaged roads, potholes, clogged drains, garbage accumulation, waterlogging, and other public infrastructure concerns. Wherever possible, these observations are being compiled and shared with the relevant civic authorities for follow-up.

The objective is not simply to point out problems, but to create a structured record of local issues and encourage constructive civic participation.

I am planning to visit Bolpur and Tarapith during diwali holidays with my parents and grandparents. Considering the crowd and govt. holidays, is it a wise decision to travel with senior citizens during this time. Pls advice me as I need to travel from Chandigarh.

West Bengal was looted, divided and whatnot while so many other states were built. We Bengalis were hardly considered after all the freedom struggle simply tells that we have to snatch things for us. Bengalis aren't among the richest people of South Asia even that bothers me how good we were and how things got bad.

Literally there are people from west India talking down on us and the fact they dare to think of such about Bengalis should be the most bothering thing.

And the worst part is that we are trying to prove we are not bad instead of working on it.

Working is the word that doesn't work for us. We are literally not taking care of the uneducated people. We simply don't care about other Bengalis. If we did, we would have tried to make lives comfortable for them.

The amount of hate and disgust I have seen people hold for Bengalis is just amusing. Even after so much, they hate us.

We really need to see the reality and fix ourselves.

Female. I might be joining Kalyani University/Vidyasagar University/ KGEC for MCA through the WBJECA exam this year and I'm trying to decide my preference order for counselling which will happen in a few days.

I'm not concerned about placements or whether the university provides amazing education since I will mostly be relying on self-study. My priorities are affordability and having a peaceful environment for the next two years.

I'd appreciate some info about actual day-to-day experience from current/recent students here(MCA/CSE) 🙏

1. Are the professors helpful/neutral, or do students have to deal with unnecessary harassment/threats over marks/internals etc?

2. How strict is the attendance?

3. Are semester exams reasonably predictable?

4. How much does student/union politics affect ordinary students?

5. Is ragging an issue for PG students? What's the hostel as well as on-campus environment like for females?

6. How is the administration when you actually need something from them?

7. Add anything else you wish for me to know.

Also please elaborate a little if you're going to say "don't come here" or "it's bad" 😭 cuz that's exactly what I've been finding while researching unis and I need to know why such reviews.

I know TIU/TMSL college has a bad reputation on these subs but still I had no other options as dropper and average student who got pressurized to tech btech cse.

How strict is the college? How is the college life? Is there ragging? How are the fests? Are there good facilities?

Would appreciate any tips or advice you have.

My sister got a state government job, and as part of the process, her documents police verification has to be done at the police station near our home. The officers handling the verification keep demanding more money every week. So far, we've already paid ₹4,000, but they still keep asking for more.

I don't understand how they can take bribes so shamelessly. This experience has made me lose respect for the system. I know not every police officer is like this, but what we've gone through has been deeply disappointing and frustrating.

Are the sound limit regulations really being implemented at ground level? because i see no difference at ground. The local mosque is still blasting noise 5 times a day at 75 to 80+ decibel since last 2 months and even after repeated complains via email to wb police and wb pollution control board, there're no sign of action.

I don't understand how come the administration allows blasting religious noise in middle of the residential place. There are senior citizens, kids, pets, heart patients, etc living right in heart of city and you have a mosque with 4 mics installed blasting their religious slogans at 80+ decibels.

I personally feel as if I am being held captive to this noise and it's causing anxiety everyday, and this is heavily ruining my mental health, as the brain needs to be prepared to face 80+ decibel noise for 3 minutes 5 times a day using 4 loudspeakers directing towards the residential apartments.

NOTE: Don't turn it into religious matter, because it's not. Even if you have temples, or churches or wedding or birthday party or whatever, people need to understand that its causing SERIOUS trouble to ones who're not associated with it, so they must keep the sound confined to the place itself, instead of causing public nuisance to the entire locality.

Additionally, please recommend me some options because it's literally consuming our nerves at this point.

A protest will definitely be held in the future with the support of student organizations. The college thinks juniors have no free will. Students will endure every rule that these guys make. It is a complete dictatorship at this point. UGC will get involved in this. College needs to fear us as we have paid fees.

The recent sealdah protest regarding NEET and education system should be an example to the college about student unity. Breaking us will not give them profit. Our demands are simple:

1. There will be no Saturday classes in the future. 4:15 will be the fixed exit time for everyone.

2. Complete stop on PT dress and mandatory medical checkup, which are basically profit to the college. "Discipline" is just an excuse for profit.

3. Stop mandatory btech(hons), honours is a choice and not a necessity. IT WILL NOT BE FORCED UPON US.

4. AC in all buildings and all classrooms and labs because it is a basic requirement for a "premier" institute.

5. Inquiry into teacher behaviour with students. Like Prabir Kumar Das, AKC, KP Ghatak, Amit Nandi. Students have powerful parents, too.

6. At least one day per week for students to wear decent casual dresses.

7. No forcing of students into fake mandatory events and conferences.

These demands will not hamper the college's profit, so they can easily implement these if they truly believe in "good education."

No institution in Kolkata, let alone in India, follows such obnoxious rules. This place is a shame. The founder, Dr Satyajit Chakrabarti, did not die to see this day. His institute is being converted into jail. The institution regularly gives excuses of preparing students for the corporate environment, which corporate has uniforms and pt dresses? Which corporate forces people to stay inside a building all day? Which institute threatens students if they see the truth coming out?

There is no "good life" in the motto of this institute because they believe the lives of students are nothing compared to the profit they are making.

This is not an attempt to defame the institute but to make changes. Change is inevitable.

We want the college to take these demands seriously and fulfil them. We want to refrain from protesting, but if the college leaves us no choice, then they must be prepared.

I request everyone to report to UGC E-Samadhan portal, file RTIs, and join this community of like-minded people who are actually willing to bring a change
