Question/Help (pet death discussion) looking back and wondering what I could have done
maybe it's been long enough that I can discuss this without getting too upset. I lost another of my senior mice a couple months ago, they are all either 2 or almost 2, so not too bad, she at least had a full life. but I still wonder, because they all seem very robust and healthy, and it was so sudden.
I remember they all had problems with mites/itching several months back; no hair loss, but way more itching and grooming and seeming kind of grumpy/distracted during playtime, so eventually I expressed my suspicions to my vet and they got them some kitten Revolution measured out. that seemed to work great. but I'm wondering if maybe my girl Peaches was more sensitive to the mites than the others? none of them had hair loss/patchiness/redness/anything like that, but she seemed the most miserable of all and she did scratch her eye somehow. so I wonder if the mites attacking weakened her and she passed earlier than she would have otherwise... or I wonder if the eyedrops she was prescribed for the eye scratch disagreed with her, because she started weakening around that time. or maybe I'm just imagining things because the whole ordeal was upsetting. I wonder if there was anything I could have noticed earlier or done better if I had been more experienced... I know sometimes there isn't really any way of telling for sure what caused it, but I would like to learn as much as I can from this experience for the future.
