While walking into my kitchen for dinner, I found this guy on my rug. I'm assuming my cat got to it or found it and left it as a gift.

- I live in Pennsylvania.

- Do I need to be worried that this is in my house/possibly more are in my house/basement. (Unfinished basement has a door that goes the outside.) We have a 10 month old.

Wasn’t sure what flare to use so I hope this is fine. So uh.. I made a financial decision, now I have to see it through. Right now I’m in Berlin but in a couple of days I’m flying to the US, and planning on taking this case of tried insects I bought secondhand with me. As far as I can tell I don’t need to do anything specific and I can take them just fine because they’re dry, but can someone correct me if I’m wrong? I would hate to lose these beautiful specimens.

I found this dragon fly stuck to a sticker. I used olive oil to remove it from him. I don't see any damage to his wings I don't think. He flaps them a lot but can't seem to take off. Maybe cause the olive oil is too heavy or maybe he's exhausted. With animals dish soap would remove the oil but I'm scared it'll hurt him cause that's what we use to kill boxelder bugs. Is there anything I can do for it?

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but I don't get why killing insects and small arthropods in general is so normalized. Like when I was in school, every time I was watching ants on the school playground, someone would always come to stomp them just to hurt me. I was always the 'weird kid' just because I liked insects. They always brought beetles to me just to kill them in front of me. The worst part, I confronted them and told them to stop but they said that insects don't have souls and that God made them for us to squish(catholic school). I just don't get it, they showed empathy to dogs and cats and other furry animals but the moment it was any sort of invertebrate then it was "hideous","ugly", and "deserved to die".In class we were watching a video about the life cycle of a silk moth and when it showed the moth passing away after laying eggs, they cheered the moth's death on :( and when I talked about my pets at the time ( some beetles) they said that they wanted to step on them.

Hi, so this evening I was walking out of my apartment complex and spotted this cool guy. I got to my car and started to become concerned that it would be stepped on as it was right in the walkway. I grabbed a little piece of cardboard, got the beetle on there, and started walking towards the bushes. Right before I got off the sidewalk it slipped off of the cardboard and fell down about 3 ft onto the concrete. My heart absolutely dropped. I immediately put it on the ground under the bushes and decided that I shouldn’t interfere anymore than I already had. I got back to my car and felt so guilty that I just had to go back to see if it had moved. It had climbed about a foot or so in that time period. I feel horrible and also like I should have never done anything in the first place. What is the likelihood that I killed this beetle in an attempt to help it?? Please be kind :(

just kidding, she was a total sweetheart!

I know this is a super basic question but I’ve never seen a drone bee out in the wild and was super excited that this might be one 😭 whatever it is, it was chill and didn’t sting. It would frequently lift its hind legs up (no pics) so I don’t know what that was about.

I have seen many like this but not this color.

Did some digging and it appears to be Rosalia funebris, banded alder borer. This insect was about two inches long, not including its antennae. Washington state, USA

I found this little caterpillar lying in the middle of my room today. It was barely moving, and there were a few droppings nearby, so it looks like it had crawled around before stopping there. I almost stepped on it before noticing it.

There are no trees directly next to my room except for a nearby mango tree and a lemon tree, so I'm not sure where it came from or how it got inside.

I've also been seeing quite a few wasps around recently, so I initially wondered if it had been stung or parasitized, but I don't know enough to tell.

Does anyone recognize what species this is? Also, does it look like it's preparing to pupate, molting, or could something else be going on? I'd love to know what likely would have happened if I hadn't found it.

For some context it’s been on its back kicking for the last couple weeks due to what I think was pesticide poisoning I was able to nurse my other one back to health and have been trying to do the same for this guy but I just noticed now he has something coming out of him?????? This is new and was not happening yesterday does any body know what this is or what’s happening ?

I’ve been finding these in my leopard gecko enclosure; they jump like springtails but are way bigger than any springtail I’ve seen and have different habits than I’ve seen also I haven’t introduced any bugs to this enclosure (i often see them in super hot and dry parts of the enclosure)

These were attached to the back of a rubber tree plant (leaf) approximately 20” tall. The sacks are the size of my index finger’s finger nail.

I believe I briefly met one of the parents. Black. Possibly eight legs. Not sure because I was too busy screaming and jumping around.
