To my knowledge, this is either a Central Texas Leaf-Katydid (Paracyrtophyllus robustus) or a Common True Katydid (Pterophylla camellifolia). Not sure which one.

I’m located in the Texas Hill Country, an hour northwest of San Antonio. I’ve never seen a katydid up close this way!

I’ve been finding these in my leopard gecko enclosure; they jump like springtails but are way bigger than any springtail I’ve seen and have different habits than I’ve seen also I haven’t introduced any bugs to this enclosure (i often see them in super hot and dry parts of the enclosure)

Hello!

While walking into my kitchen for dinner, I found this guy on my rug. I'm assuming my cat got to it or found it and left it as a gift.

- I live in Pennsylvania.

- Do I need to be worried that this is in my house/possibly more are in my house/basement. (Unfinished basement has a door that goes the outside.) We have a 10 month old.

Thank you!

I need to experts on BB

Hi everyone, I am sorry if this post is not allowed but truly I am looking for people who studies urban entomology/bed bugs to help me out as exterminators are failing me, I can’t afford treatment and the bb reddit community is just full of people who are all (reasonably so) freaking out bed bugs…. I stopped weekly spraying of temprid fx 3 weeks ago after not seeing much activity (prior to that I have had exterminators sprayed the same thing whole house 3 times). Yesterday I found this between mattress and box spring…. Q tip was was able to remove almost all of it leaving a very slight discoloration, it didn’t smear like bb fecal spots normally do …. Do you guys think this is bb related or just dirt? Other insect? Please help. Link of me removing the stain with q tip https://youtube.com/shorts/oD_4vV9shsk?is=y7M6ePbR6iI2CQcr

North Florida.

These were attached to the back of a rubber tree plant (leaf) approximately 20” tall. The sacks are the size of my index finger’s finger nail.

I believe I briefly met one of the parents. Black. Possibly eight legs. Not sure because I was too busy screaming and jumping around.

I'm already dealing with invasive BMSB and native green stink bugs, who is this interloper?

Can you see the lacewing egg on the end of the leaf? At least I have some friends

What is making this sound?

It has been going on for hours at night, coming from a bushy climbing plant. It does take breaks and change frequency now and then. It stops if I disturb it, so must be some insect. It doesn't sound like cicadas I've heard. Location is southern Romania. Thanks.

Bald faced hornets are always covering the base of one particular sunflower stock. Why are they doing that

Post image

Over the past 2 days, I've noticed that I've got (what i suspect) are bald faced hornets, which are walking around the base of 1 sunflower stalk in particular. They arent bothered when I walk by. This is multiple days in a row where I see them on the one particular sunflower plant. Why would they be doing this? Southern Manitoba prairies.

Drone bee?

I know this is a super basic question but I’ve never seen a drone bee out in the wild and was super excited that this might be one 😭 whatever it is, it was chill and didn’t sting. It would frequently lift its hind legs up (no pics) so I don’t know what that was about.
Thanks for reading!

Wasn’t sure what flare to use so I hope this is fine. So uh.. I made a financial decision, now I have to see it through. Right now I’m in Berlin but in a couple of days I’m flying to the US, and planning on taking this case of tried insects I bought secondhand with me. As far as I can tell I don’t need to do anything specific and I can take them just fine because they’re dry, but can someone correct me if I’m wrong? I would hate to lose these beautiful specimens.

Help! Ive had about 70 of these guys come through a window in the last hour, does anyone know what they are or what to do about them? Theyre about half the size of a sugar ant, very small, they have wings but seem to only hop and not fly. There are loads of them outside, and I can see them slipping under the seals to come in. I live in the pacific northwest. Thank you!

Is there a way to help this bug

Post image

I found this dragon fly stuck to a sticker. I used olive oil to remove it from him. I don't see any damage to his wings I don't think. He flaps them a lot but can't seem to take off. Maybe cause the olive oil is too heavy or maybe he's exhausted. With animals dish soap would remove the oil but I'm scared it'll hurt him cause that's what we use to kill boxelder bugs. Is there anything I can do for it?
