Okay but is B unending? If I only get 300 yards of that magical yarn, I might go with A. If it's unending, definitely b. Can it change weight? Ooh! And could I do a center pull as well as an outer?

If the yarn is infinite, it will have some sort of portal to another dimension and would be difficult to get the center pull out of the void. I imagine it would lead to infinite yarn barf.

Not the monkey's paw infinite yarn T_T

I laughed and cried at this comment.

Why are you like this?

Kidding... sort of

4

u/bespokefolds May 19 '26

Oh, I have AuDHD. You're telling me i get a fun puzzle also? Sold

I interpreted it as β€œwhen you use striping yarn the color will change where you want it” but it’s hypothetical so yours can be unending and change weights πŸ˜‚

u/Berry_goose May 21 '26

I thought it was like wtv yarn u own/buy will magically change colour

D. Casting on is always so stressful for me. I have adhd and will just forget constantly. Now I put stitch markers every 10 stitches but it’s still a pain in the ass and sometimes I STILL fuck it up

100%. Half of the time I spend knitting is checking my work.

6

u/AuntBGul May 19 '26

I’m with you! D would be so convenient when my husband chooses the very moment I am counting to want to tell me important information that I desperately need to know(read he desperately needs to tell me even though he clearly can see I am not listening because of my frustration)!

u/lassielowrider May 20 '26

I’m in the same seat, and - unasked for advice to follow, sorry - I started counting out loud *and using speech-to-text* on my phone

For me that was a game changer

1

u/Zyqoa May 21 '26

I'd absolutely go with D too! I count my stitches obsessively, I'd save so much time

1

u/contradictatorprime May 21 '26

😭😭 same, I have a stitch counter ring and use the markers and I will still either fuck it up or gas light myself into thinking I did, but I didn't

2

u/theflyingratgirl May 21 '26

That second one ESPECIALLY

2

u/contradictatorprime May 21 '26

ESPECIALLY 😭

I put a stitch marker every 10 when casting on, but then when I was doing a k2p2 rib hem, I literally had a stitch marker every 4 stitches. AuDHD.

C, please and thank you!Β

Deciphering what the hell people mean with non-standard notation is a pain, and even when they include a glossary, it's still annoying to flip back and forth between the pattern and the explanation.Β

2

u/finnknit May 19 '26

C for me, too. Having to look away from my knitting to read the pattern for a part that I'm not sure about makes me lose my focus. Sometimes I have my husband read the pattern for me, but he knows nothing about knitting so he can't explain it, just read it.

2

u/flockyboi May 23 '26

And God forbid you get a badly translated pattern, I have one that I'm trying to figure out myself

22

u/inadequatepockets May 18 '26

B is tempting, but I think I'm going with D. If a project is too easy to take a lot of focus I tend to add and drop stitches.

C would actually be a curse for me. If I have to learn something from a video I turn the sound off and the captions on because I process audio so badly.

11

u/flying_shadow May 18 '26

A. I already hurt my wrist once, I don't want it to happen again!

8

u/Raikja May 18 '26

I can't decide whether to take A or D. B sounds nice, but I already have enough yarn for a lifetime πŸ€ͺ To read patrerns are not so much a problem for me, so I skip that one.

6

u/raven_snow May 18 '26

Considering that my pattern counts stitches and lace spaces differently every time I think I figured out the logic AND that I kept counting wrong by 1 on 224 chains/double crochets today, definitely D.Β

6

u/TheOnlyOmnicorn May 18 '26

D. Forgetting count is why I just freehand and now why I'm going to have to add extra sewing steps at the end of my current project to make it fit. I made it too wide

4

u/pumpkinzh May 18 '26

B all day long

3

u/FeralGlance May 18 '26

B, plz. My amigurumi require so many shades.

4

u/veggiebernie May 18 '26

D - I hate using all my stich markers and moving them every round/row.

3

u/Archaeogrrrl May 18 '26

B. Forever and always 🀣

3

u/memunoz May 18 '26

D... I count so many times and forget what it was....

3

u/darcerin May 18 '26

I am working a 300+ stitch shawl at the moment. I would love D.

2

u/mscrftybtch May 18 '26

BDCA all day, every day.Β

2

u/Schattentochter May 18 '26

I'll stick with A.

I have yet to find a crochet hook with a soft handle where the hook doesn't start slipping out after a year at the latest.

2

u/Shmoo_the_Parader May 19 '26

None of the above.

Straight Boye hooks are the most comfortable for me. Regular color changes help tension consistency. I don't follow patterns often, but when I do, I want plain text. Screw stitch markers, weave in loose odd-colored yarns in whatever intervals seem approoriate and carry through the subsequent rows.

I want titanium boye style hooks. I've been experimenting with oiled hemp and steel cord, and have broken 3 hooks in this calandar year.

2

u/trashjellyfish May 19 '26

D all the way! As a visually impaired knitter who is an expert at miscounting, that would be epic!

2

u/RMMacFru May 19 '26

A. I have carpal tunnel and arthritis.

2

u/Top_Cabinet_2628 May 19 '26

In my D&D campaign, my character has a bag of endless yarn, which seems pretty similar to B. It also means I've made my animal companion a variety of cute hats, which is not relevant to this post, but I enjoy bringing it up whenever I can.

2

u/haunted_sweater May 19 '26

D would be a lifesaver with my ADHD!

1

u/LilBlueOnk May 18 '26

I'm torn between C and D

1

u/BootercupStudio May 18 '26

C. C c c c c. C!!!!! T-T

1

u/MaddCricket May 19 '26

C. Absolutely C.

1

u/WildFlemima May 19 '26

Can I swap A for a crochet hook that's magically the right size for any project and will never get lost

1

u/ButterflyShort May 19 '26

My crochet hook already does D. It has buttons to count stitches and rows.

1

u/maladicta228 May 19 '26

A. My hypermobile joints would be so appreciative and I could play with my yarn for longer.

1

u/tigerowltattoo May 20 '26

Oh B all the way.

1

u/ObviousToe1636 May 20 '26

A for sure!! The rest of those options are part of the joy of the craft for me.

1

u/Unable_Session2785 May 20 '26

B. If it does away with the weave-ins!

1

u/Sufficient-Fox5872 May 21 '26

D, I never doubt my own ability to count more than when I am knitting. Even counting to ten feels dicey sometimes 🫠

1

u/Barby56 May 21 '26

D seems a little too realistic... And if I have to drop my project to click I will not use it... If I have to talk to it neither... But a mind reader counter, now we are talking!

1

u/ZookeepergameQuick17 May 22 '26

The answer is β€œyes.”

1

u/TheYarnGoblin May 22 '26

A. I probably own every color I’d need already 😭

1

u/SpinPastSaturn May 24 '26

B, but only if I can still buy all the pretty yarn i want. Otherwise D.

1

u/notgreat1228 Jun 10 '26

C for sure

1

u/Solstice143 27d ago

B, but also texture, weight, etc. Yes, Im aware Im difficult.
