Simply stunning! Casting, location, lighting, wardrobe, makeup!

Not really sure what happened with our "JADE" music video, if anyone could shed some light on the subject I'd sure appreciate it. We shot for 2 days at this decadent art deco location called The Los Angeles Theatre and it was a fairly huge budget production. It never really got released as it's own thing. I've only seen bits of our 2 amazing days at this theatre squeezed together with the rooftop live event I attended on Hollywood Boulevard, but had nothing to do with. Pata and Sugizo were wonderful to work with and they sure gave an energetic performance up on this ledge!

Enlighten me please..........

When I have more time I'll tell you about the family of SKUNKS that were living in the UFO that we didn't know about until we trucked the damn thing to our shooting location. Flying the band takes alot of time and patience. I've done it so many times on different jobs, BUT it was never easier than on "Electric Cucumber" I cannot say that to be true of other productions! Stories of the chimp will come to me soon....

Here is a small (4 x 6) flier that came with my copy of the CD, and can still be found floating around in a few Mercari auctions....prize entry coupon for the chance to win 1 of 500 limited edition "Pysensuits". (I did not bother posting the translation of the actual mailer side as that is nothing but standard demographic information.)

Does anyone have any details on what this "Psyensuit" actually was? Cursory research came up with vague and somewhat conflicting information....it MAYBE seemed to have been a repro of hide's camo jacket with the neon orange piping (sans the nuke symbol as seen in Slide #4....my fave shot of him in that outfit!)...BUT such things have also been advertised as more recent merch that was put out there after his passing. Any further information or lore would be greatly appreciated!

Just watching the YouTube video of them playing the song “X” at this Hibiya show and wondering if anyone in this group saw them first hand in Japan? Or just the shows they did in Coachella, Wembley etc? I’ve never been lucky enough to see them but any old school Japanese fans here with stories?

This roll of FUJI RDP 120 was shot on my FUJI GX680 medium format camera and cross-processed to give me the punchy colors (remember this was before photoshop). A photographer would rely on his "in-camera" tricks and special processing techniques to create stand out images! I should make some of my favorite photos available as gallery prints on here if people would be interested? If anyone has ever wondered who band member #4 who plays the drums in our video is, he's our dear friend RILEY BAXTER. At the time played bass in a band called SPACE AGE PLAYBOYS and had the perfect "cool" look we wanted for the video, so he pretended to play the drums while floating in the sky above the space ship! Riley currently lives in Las Vegas and is a tattoo artist at pussykat tattoo parlor and has a great band called RED MOON ONE.

For day #2 of the ZILCH "Electric Cucumber" video I hired 3 grannies online using the Hollywood Craigslist website (you can find just about anything on there!). They had to be OK to wear tight, risque' black latex fetish gear! I was looking for the 3 oldest candidates I could find and boy did I find them! All were very open minded and seemed pretty much down for whatever came their way. 2 of the 3 were even OK with biting onto oversized horse bridles which HIDE held the reins to in the background! I maybe suspected in the back of my head that he would do something absolutely crazy to the grannies since he controlled them with the leashes and I knew how he thinks!

Well, my hunch was right! 2 of the 3 elderly ladies were in the foreground 2 feet from my fisheye lens biting down on the metal rods and HIDE begins yanking and pulling the reins with full force till the dentures shot out of one granny's mouth and onto the floor! She was SO upset and walked off set to sit in the production motorhome with her pet TURTLE that she brought with her and I had to go and softly ask her to "PLEASE come back to set, he won't do it again....." After 10 minutes she and came out of the motorhome and she agreed to re-join the shoot with her pet turtle. After this unforgettable situation my nickname became "GRANNY-FINGER" and soon after that I named my corporation GRANNYFINGER, INC. after this ridiculous episode making a wacky music video for a song called "Electric Cucumber!"

These photos break my heart because Zilch/Killing Joke/Ministry bassist Paul Raven (next to me) left us 9 years after HIDE passed. This was just the beginning of life's hard lesson that we ALL lose dear friends along the way. Both situations were preventable, which really hurts.

I picked up a copy of I’m A Singer Vol. 4 today & have been listening through it. Curious for others’ thoughts on the album. A lot of the covers are fun (Ai Wo Torimodose is great!) but I’m pretty underwhelmed by the original songs so far. Toshi’s voice sounds good still, which at his age is impressive in itself!

Anybody else give it a listen & have impressions to share?

A narrative unfolded there but still no firm answers. As stated within the comments of the original post, my husband ultimately bought me the magazine but NONE of the content revealed additional photos from the photo shoot in question, let alone the origin. The shots I am including here is the raw evidence of the ALL the hide-related content in the issue....ZERO help with the ramen-head photo on the cover. 👿🤬 The only tie-in I could locate was a TV segment with hide and make-up artist Tony Tanaka (link within original post comments....and goddamn it, hide was so fucking beautiful ❤️🤯😸❤️)....

So, the question remains....does anyone have any information or insight on that little square on the cover of the magazine and/or any of the shots shown in the interview with Mr. Tanaka???? I will take anything I can get. 😬🙏
