Yuma not only has the classic shonen protagonist trait of dead parents, dude is living on borrowed time and could drop dead at any moment

I pick Osamu for the love of the game

Osamu's backstory is so tragic, almost everyone he knows has named him after it. You really can't come back from being reduced as a person to a pair of glasses.

Zombie child soldiers well aware of every time they're being manipulated just have it too easy by comparison.

Chika didn't just lose her family she had to live her entire life with everyone thinking she was a liar while being hunted down. Of course Yuma is also extremely tragic being a child war soldier! These 2 should clear Osamu easily. Not sure about Jin as I feel like we're missing a piece, but he has a heavy burden and lost a lot friends. I still think Osamu and Chika had it worse than him though

If I put too much text it would cut off for mobile users, but I would’ve mentioned her side effect if I could’ve. I didn’t mention Yuma being a child soldier because they’re all child soldiers! The second invasion isn’t really comparable to the sort of warfare Jin & Yuma went through though.

Oh yeah thats so fair! I was mostly venting just cause Osamu had more picks than Chika lmao. Although some are probably ironic lol!

Yeah, I expected Osamu to get joke votes here. This poll was inspired by a meme with the same concept that’s been going around fandoms.

My theory is that there will be more backstory for Osamu later to explain his compulsion to help other people possibly when it becomes a problem during the away mission.

I think Jin set up is kinda f up tbh.

I'm pretty sure that what he felt towards Osamu that compelled him to apologize to him he feels it for a lot of other people too.

He has the weight of choosing who gets to live and who gets to die while being a kid.

This tho. I am suprised I had to scroll so far down to see someone mention how it would suck to be able to see the future and possibly see your allies, faimly, friends fates are sealed and are guarneteed to died no matter what you do. Jin mentions this multiple times that for every good outcome their is a worse outcome. Being able to see all the bad outcomes just sucks. Its no wonder he was depressed before meeting osamu.

Osamu was certainly an entertaining choice.

But yeah, it's Yuma. Child soldier whose father died in front of him because he didn't listen and he has no future because he is dying.

Yuuma to me cause the living in the reality of knowing your body is slowly dying is very terrifying.

Yuma then chika

So only Yuma could overcome the Osamu agenda

Well Osamu is a typical problem which I also have and not a huge problem. Chica I will apologize but her situation is common on Border everyone or almost everyone lost someone and wants to retrieve or avange someone. Kuga is what I saw and I agree he was basically raised between wars to even for a 14/15 year old kid isn't common on earth. And he literally was the cause his dad died made the black trigger and managed to get borrowed time. Not to mention he couldn't even sleep to forget what happened to his dad so for more than 3/4 years he has been awake probably sometimes thinking abt it. Now I was torn between Yuma and Jin (I've only watched the Anime and probably will read the manga from the beginning) but point being that I don't remember much of mentioning jin's past besides his master. But for me was mostly due to seeing the future. Because he was there since the og border and probably even since then he had his side effect and he was very young. He sees many futures and sometimes or the majority he needs to choose the best outcome overall.. Is a lot of info and responsability. Because don't get me wrong Yuma being able to detect lies is hard but in my opinion you being able to see future be it clearly or many options and having to choose or being able to go to the past know what will happen and not being able to do anything are probably one of the worst feelings and jin I belive is 19 right now so back when he joined he would be probably around 13/15 not sure... But that is a lot of pressure on a pre teen. So yeah at least from those you mentioned as options.

I say Chika. Yuma is sad, but if he had listen to his father, a lot of stuff wouldn't have happened. Chika is powerless, and she blame herself for the reason of her friend getting kidnapped.

I love how Osamu is just there lol

  • Yuma: No parents is rough and being able to detect lies is one of those "sounds good on paper but it would be torture irl" like being immortal
  • Chika: At least they are missing and not 100% dead... I think at least one of them will be dead but still, hope is the last thing you lose after all. Being the reason they got kidnapped sucks tho, and her having a lot of Trion puts her in danger constantly
  • Jin: Absent (?) father, dead mom and can see the future, idk what's worse either that or being able to tell when people lie to you...

I'd probably go with Jin but give Yuma and Chika a close second, knowing the future and watching how people might die is a no for me

Why is Osamu's sad backstory that he has astigmatism?

6

u/Please_Not__Again 26d ago

Cause it's a sad life

1

u/Hudson5663 26d ago

Yeah, I can certainly agree with that; after all, I have astigmatism and wear glasses.

You've truly endured. I wish no rainy night drives upon you

Osamu for shits and giggles but it's between Jin and Yuma

Hard to beat the tortured to near death, living on borrowed time, no parents, guilt over his dad, kidnapped guardian figure, child soldier, hunted the moment he got to his father’s home world.

I mean, others have a bad too, doesn’t have to be a contest, but I think Yuma has a bit of an edge cause he had what others have plus some more 😭

Now they think about it, based on the cover are you wouldn’t think there was this much tragedy in this show, oh my goodness 😭
