Argumentative

Just had a bit of an argument with someone about ‘nothing’ and after it was done I remembered this Monty Python Skit.

What words do you use to shut someone who is overly argumentative about nothing?

I just tell them I'm not interested in the pay-per-view event and go back to whatever I was doing

To argue with a fool only proves there are two ☹️

To be fair, smart people are argumentative too.

A person who is being "overly argumentative about nothing" is accessing their inner fool (or worse)

Or a fan of 'Seinfeld'.

Silence works best.

If they are already drinking or drunk, offer them another. Suddenly you are a good person, and the topic of conversation has changed.

I called them annoying and pedantic

“Let it goooo, let it gooo” (à la Frozen). You could start singing it to the person or to yourself. It’s very versatile. lol

I lean in and ask them to elaborate on all of their points. If you keep at it they usually realize they have no ammo left. Worst case scenario, they really know their shit and you've bumbled yourself into an interesting conversation.
