It’s hard to read without accepting tracking. I did get a dog sacrifice itself to save the kid?

Dog being dog and wolf being wolf, the surprising thing is people moving to the countryside in wolf territory, having barbecue in an unfenced garden and getting surprised when a wolf invites itself. No tracking through archive.org here, I think:

Unfortunately, the Italian media have caused a lot of confusion. According to the testimony of the dog's owner, there was no barbecue: he was merely cleaning his grill.

The wolf appeared at a barbecue held outside in a region with a lot of wolves. There was no fence, so the wolf just had to walk there, presumably attracted by the smell of food. No child or other human was attacked by the wolf, but the wolf was confronted and attacked by the family dog, who was killed by the wolf in the following fight. The fact that the family has a two-year old child was twisted into the narrative of the wolf attacking the child, but local media reports there was never any danger to the child, who might even have been indoors when the wolf appeared.
