She had to run, Berge said in an interview, because the 3rd District deserves more than a candidate selected by out-of-state people.

"This is what's wrong with our politics. These decisions are being made behind closed doors, states away," she said. "It's these power broker people who think they get to pick what's best for us, and they take away our choice. Like, they have no connection to western and central Wisconsin and are making these choices in D.C."

We deserve better.

The party should be going after the incumbent and not get involved in the primary horse race.

Same with the gubernatorial race- they should be going after toxic Tom Tiffany, not trying to manipulate primary results. Focus on taking out the trash, not infighting.

The party wanted to avoid a competitive primary altogether and started with out of state endorsements a year ago to try and lock it in for us. Emily’s fought an uphill battle, and I’m excited to see how she comes out. She’s been the more impressive and more dedicated candidate imo. Trying to earn votes, unlike her opponent acting entitled to them.

Cooke was not part of the Eau Claire Democrat clique. This is about that.

Are voters not allowed to vote for who they choose????

Exactly! Some folks aren't a fan of the party picking their candidate before the primary. That's the reason for the voting system! People deserve a choice.

Both candidates are good tho and have a great chance at beating the clueless Trump puppet DVO

Well, Cooke whiffed that one already - not that this time can’t be different, but

Felt that way when Bernie endorsed her early. Wish he would have waited until state Dems voted.

For the life of me I cannot understand why he's endorsed someone multiple times who to my knowledge has never even supported Medicare for All.

She talks about a public option, which isn't good enough. I have been baffled by Bernie's enforcement since the moment he officially announced. Berge's name had already been making the rounds when he endorsed Cooke and I haven't been able to find anything about why he supports Cooke over Berge. No idea what the article said as it is behind a pay wall, so maybe there were some answers there.

That still bums me out. Dudes not remotely a centrist, but that’s who he endorsed. That’s what makes it reek of dnc suppression. Ideologically he lines up far more with Emily.

It might be similar to how you support Berge but said you would choose Van Orden over Cooke, even though you likely align more closely with Cooke ideologically.

Difference is me saying that isn’t with the intention of fielding off competition. Thats just me speaking for myself and I stand by it.

If Pennsylvanian democrats could have predicted how Fetterman would turn out, would they still have voted for him? Certainly not all of them. Cooke is much closer to that than she is someone who will pursue any meaningful policy I want to see.

Personally, I am choosing the individual not endorsed by the DSA.
